Dev Log #11

Hi everyone, and welcome to my 11th Dev Log!

These past 2 weeks have been incredible! I managed to get a ton of renders done, I made some music and SFX, and continued writing Dialogue.

Also enjoy this Render with Tiffany referencing CSM's Reze in the swimming pool:

The things you don't know or can't do...I'll teach you everything.

I've seen fellow Developers post their take on it, and couldn't hold myself back from making it too.

What did I achieve these last 2 Weeks?

Rendering

I've managed to do more than what I had set myself as goals, and while I did work almost non-stop, I found it to be extremely satisfying. I've already completed 126 renders!!! To put into perspective, the first 3 scenes are complete.

Renders are being both posed and done more rapidly, my lighting skills are becoming better and better. In general, I'm super happy how Chapter 1 is turning out already. With a building tension, I am reaching soon the scenes that will, hopefully, make this game unique in this genre. With the willing descent into the Realm of Darkness of the MC, the Game will start to really tell its tale. I'm beyond excited to start rendering this. But I will also give myself time to make each render have all the necessary story-telling it needs.

Have a little Sneak Peak into how Chapter 1 begins... lost, in crumbles, not knowing where he is. Someone stands before the MC. Who? That remains to be seen...

Music Production

Moreover, I actually made progress with learning music composition! I'm so happy being able to make some music that I want to have in the game, and I believe it sounds incredible too. I also made a "soundscape" that will be played in moments of psychological horror in the story. It sounds exactly how I want the player to feel like when the MC finds himself in rather odd and scary places...

Now... Prepare your headphones!

Here a Sneak Peek into how the RoD will sound like... when you lose yourself in its emptiness:

And here to the music playing in the Game Menu:

Alone the feeling of actually being able to create music from scratch is a huge win for me, as it was a skill I always wanted to learn, and now I finally am learning. It's an even bigger win now that I'm finally able to capture the exact atmosphere I've always envisioned for this project.

Dialogue & Story

Dialogue has been pushed to 75% too, which gives me more and more idea of how the renders will also look like. Also, I made a small change in the story to add a scene that I believe is very special and beautiful. Initially, I planned this specific scene to appear in Chapter 4, but after consideration and re-reading the story multiple times, it made more sense to have it happen in Chapter 1 instead. So... I'm very excited!

Goals for the next 2 Weeks?

Well, if I can, I want to continue pushing as much as I did until now. If not even more.

  • Push to a total 250 Renders for Chapter 1

  • Fix all Grammatical mistakes in the Prologue

  • Finish fixing the SFX (ambience sounds) in the Prologue

Well that's all for today's Dev Log. I am very happy with how everything is turning out. Thanks everyone for your continuous support and love!
