Dev Log #6
Hi everyone, and welcome to my sixth Dev Log.
In the last 2 weeks I have made major progress, as I redid all scenes that needed a re-work (because the MC changed too much in the meantime). That includes around 150 renders redone, and new 50 done. I am now currently working on the ending scene of the Prologue, which has the most impact on the story until now. It's the moment where Mike, the MC, finally enters the Realm of Darkness. It's the toughest scene I have rendered so far, as it needs to depict a switch in mood. Also,
To tell you the truth, I am still pondering on wether I should animate the transition as he enters the Realm of Darkness or to use cinematic renders. I am opting for the second one, as my animation skills aren't that great yet. But I want to make this transition as impactful as possible. If you have an opinion on this and you want to share, feel free to comment, I am always happy to hear some other perspectives. Following is an example for a cinematic render of Mike as he feels a strange sensation right before he enters the Realm of Darkness:
Outside of the rendering, I have been polishing some background stories about the characters featured in The Darkness Within. For you this means that I am continuing adding depth to each character. They all have their pasts and reasons to exist in this world.
Also, I made an upgrade and bought myself a new GPU, an RX 9060 XT, which gave me a positive performance boost both while making the scene and rendering.
Last but not least, I will be soon choosing a few testers that will play the Prologue in it's first Alpha version. Because the Prologue is short and an introduction to the story, I am tending on releasing a full finished Chapter 1 instead. While I would like to have you play the game as soon as possible, I prefer to allow for a fuller first experience and understand what The Darkness Within is all about, as the first Chapter will already have some dramatic moments.
In the meantime, enjoy Lena taking a selfie on a rainy evening.
Thanks again for all your support!

Eyebrow Man!
Will the game have Thai language?
Right now, I’m focused on finishing Chapter 1 to the highest quality. I’d love to make the game multilingual, but for now, that's outside of my focus. I will keep you updated in the future about possible translations!
Like all of your work, your Lena image is stunning!
Thanks Null!
Lena = smash.
Fellow Lena enjoyer!
Lena looks stunning oh my days. About the "ending scene of the prologue" I'd say you should go with cinematic if you don't feel confident animating it yet. You could always get better by trying with other "less important" scenes <3
Thanks for sharing your perspective Medma! My opinion too
