Weekly Progress Summary — Game Direction, Development Challenges & Patreon Update
Hello everyone!
Today, I'd like to take some time to explain what NEET: Survival is going to be, what I'm currently working on, and where I plan to take this project in the future.
I also have some updates regarding The Asmodeus Eyes Remake, Patreon, and a few things I'd like to share with everyone who has continued supporting me.
Story Lore: The Fall & The New World
*When the old world falls, a new civilization is about to rise.*
*Judgment Day — The Day of Reckoning*
Two massive asteroids strike Earth's North and South Poles, triggering the greatest catastrophe in human history.
Gigantic tsunamis devastate coastlines across the globe. Polar ice melts, sea levels rise by more than 10 meters, and the world's geography is drastically reshaped. More than 90% of all living organisms are wiped out.
Before the apocalypse, governments around the world join forces to establish *Project Noah*, a massive evacuation initiative designed to preserve the human race.
Among these projects is *Yamato Noah*, a warship belonging to the nation of Mihon, converted into a temporary floating sanctuary for those selected to survive.
But surviving Judgment Day does not mean escaping the cruelty of humanity itself.
As food supplies begin to run out, fear turns into violence. Law and order collapse, and the survivors begin turning against one another, fighting and killing for what little remains.
*Rindo Akira* and a group of more than 30 survivors decide to escape Yamato Noah aboard a small vessel. However, the merciless storms of the post-apocalyptic world tear their boat apart.
When Akira regains consciousness on an unfamiliar beach, he discovers that only five survivors remain.
And there is someone else...
A mysterious man, unknown to any of them, who had already been lying unconscious on the shore before they arrived.
The man has lost all memories of his past, including his original name.
The only thing he can tell them is that his name is *NEET*.
He claims to have been chosen by God to descend upon this ruined world and rebuild civilization from nothing.
He even declares his intention to establish a new kingdom called...
*"NEET Land."*
In a world where simply finding enough food to survive another day is a struggle, who would believe the words of a complete stranger who doesn't even know who he truly is?
*Who is NEET? Where did he come from? And are his claims the truth... or merely the delusions of a madman?*
Will their struggle for survival on this isolated island mark the beginning of a new civilization?
Or will it become the final chapter of humanity?

1. What Is NEET: Survival?
During the early stages of the game, when the story focuses on the main group of survivors, NEET: Survival will be a 3D Survival Simulation RPG.
It will retain much of what defined my previous project, The Asmodeus Eyes (TAE).
Storytelling will still play a major role.
Expect plenty of long conversations, character development, personal histories, dark secrets from the past, and the changes each character goes through after Judgment Day.
I want every character to have their own story, their own struggles, and their own reasons for surviving.
However, there's one major difference this time:
I want the gameplay itself to be enjoyable, even for players who aren't particularly interested in reading long stories.
You should still be able to have fun simply by playing the game.
Survival Gameplay
The core gameplay will revolve around survival activities, including:
Gathering firewood and starting fires
Building shelters and improving living conditions
Searching for food and managing supplies
Crafting medicine and treating illnesses or injuries
Fighting dangerous wildlife, such as snakes in the early stages
Managing time and daily activities
Developing relationships with other survivors
These activities will form the foundation of the survival experience.
Character Relationships & Storytelling
Relationships will be a major part of the game.
Each main character will have their own storyline exploring their life before boarding the Noah, what happened during their time aboard the ship, and how they ended up in the wilderness after Judgment Day.
The characters won't simply exist to accompany the protagonist. They'll have their own personalities, emotions, backgrounds, and relationships with one another.
And your actions will influence how those relationships develop.
A More Complex Attribute System
Another major addition is the character attribute system.
Unlike many survival games that focus primarily on physical abilities, NEET: Survival will include several interconnected categories of attributes.
Core Attributes
STR, AGI, INT, and other character abilities.
Mental Attributes
Concentration, determination, diligence, and other psychological traits.
Relationship Attributes
Love, Trust, RP, Feeling, Lust, and other values that influence how characters perceive and interact with one another.
These systems will affect both gameplay and story progression.
One of the most important design decisions is that story branches won't be determined solely by dialogue choices.
Instead, the story will develop based on your actions, behavior, and the way you treat the other survivors.
Your everyday decisions will gradually shape the relationships around you, eventually leading to different story paths.
Think of something somewhat similar to The Sims, but with a single playable protagonist and a much stronger emphasis on survival and storytelling.
How Will Character Control Work?
You may have noticed that in many of my previous development clips, I'm directly controlling different characters.
Those videos are primarily tests of the character movement and animation systems.
For testing purposes, I've temporarily been using other characters as the playable character.
In the actual game, however, you'll control NEET.
The other survivors will be managed through conversations, interactions, and assigned tasks.
For example, you can:
Give gifts and build relationships
Invite someone to explore with you
Ask someone to gather food or firewood
Assign regular responsibilities around the camp
Manage how the group spends its time and resources
Some of these mechanics will resemble idle-management systems, allowing characters to carry out assigned duties while you focus on other activities.
Of course, managing people isn't always easy.
Poor decisions, whether in storytelling or gameplay, can have serious consequences.
If things go badly enough, the game may branch into a Bad End storyline, much like the original TAE, or lead to a Game Over.
The Simplest Way to Describe My Vision
Actually, the original idea behind NEET: Survival was much simpler than all these explanations.
What if The Sims and a fully 3D survival RPG had a game together?
A game with the freedom, survival mechanics, and engaging gameplay you'd expect from mainstream survival titles on Steam, while also retaining the storytelling, character relationships, and other familiar elements from my previous work.
The goal isn't to make those additional elements the main attraction.
The goal is to build a genuinely enjoyable survival game that can stand on its own through its gameplay.
That's the direction I'm aiming for.
2. Current Development & Technical Challenges
Right now, I'm still working on building the fundamental systems that will eventually come together to form the game.
Most of what you've seen in my recent clips and devlogs is part of that process.
However, there's one challenge that's proving especially difficult.
I want NEET: Survival to be playable on mobile devices.
At the same time, I want the characters and overall visual quality to be comparable to what players experienced in The Asmodeus Eyes, except this time everything will be fully 3D.
To put that into perspective, it's almost like trying to achieve the visual quality of HS2-style characters on mobile devices, while also allowing them to move and interact freely in a fully 3D environment.
And that's a completely different challenge from working with pre-rendered visuals in Ren'Py.
The biggest obstacle right now is optimization.
I need to find a balance between visual quality, performance, character rendering, animations, and the limitations of mobile hardware.
That means a lot of time is currently being spent on systems that might not look particularly exciting in development videos.
But they're necessary foundations.
Once I can overcome these technical challenges, I believe development progress will become much more visible and significantly faster.
That's why I'm focusing so heavily on these systems at the moment.
3. The Asmodeus Eyes Remake — PayPao
A quick update regarding The Asmodeus Eyes Remake, which is being developed by PayPao.
I haven't seen him online on Discord for several days, so I don't have any new information to share right now.
I assume he's still busy working on the project.
If I receive any updates, I'll share them with everyone in next week's report.
Weekly Progress Summary
Development Goal: • Performance target: 30 FPS on lowest settings for budget devices (~$150–$180) • Optimization priority: Minimize character visual degradation while heavily scaling back environment assets
Visual update: Enhanced skin textures and softer lighting. (May increase system load; awaiting mobile compilation and performance test.)

林堂 綾乃 — Rindou Ayano
Here's another look at one of the characters currently being tested in NEET: Survival!
Ayano is still a work in progress, and there are quite a few details left to refine.
Her current outfit doesn't fully support the game's clothing damage and tearing system yet. Her accessories and makeup may also receive some adjustments before the game becomes playable.
We're continuing to refine her appearance and in-game presentation to make sure everything comes together as intended.
But who exactly is Rindou Ayano, and what role will she play in NEET: Survival?

5. New Patreon Membership Tiers
Tier 1 — Pioneer
$1.50/month | Limited to 50 Members
This will be a special early-supporter tier, limited to the first 50 members.
Members who join this tier will eventually receive benefits equivalent to the planned $4.99 membership level while keeping their original Pioneer tier.
Benefits include:
Exclusive Pioneer role on Discord
VIP Level 3 status in NEET: Survival
Access to the latest Beta test builds with every update
The general release system will work a little differently from the Patreon releases.
Patreon supporters will receive access to newer builds first.
Public players and players on other platforms will receive the previous build when a newer update becomes available.
In other words, public releases will generally remain one update behind the supporter version.
A note for my existing supporters:
If you're already supporting me through any of the current tiers when this announcement is published, don't worry.
I'll make sure to record your membership and contact information so I can provide access to the game through both DM and email.
You won't be forgotten.
Tier 2 — Faithful
