DevLog: Day 5

Today's Progress:

• NPC Daily Routines: Started developing the daily cycle system for NPCs, enabling behaviors such as resting, foraging for food or resources, sleeping at dusk, and waking at dawn.

• Protagonist Controls & Camera Systems: Initially unable to settle on a single camera perspective, multiple styles were implemented for experimentation:

  1. Top-Down Perspective (The Sims style): Provides full map visibility to track other characters' locations and actions across 3 preset angles. Controls support WASD as well as mobile on-screen pads.

  2. Follow Camera (Long Distance): Tracks the protagonist from a wider distance with full 360-degree rotation.

  3. Third-Person Camera: Similar to standard third-person open-world action titles.

  4. First-Person Camera: Standard shooter perspective.

Current character models and on-screen UI buttons are temporary dummies used strictly for mechanics testing. Graphics remain unoptimized to ensure smooth performance during debugging.

P.S. After learning Unity for 4–5 days, picking it up sooner to build TAE from the start would have been the better move. It brings far more ideas to life compared to Ren'Py. Looking back, that past year feels somewhat bittersweet.
