πŸ“± Smartphone Widget v2.5.0: Music and Flashlight Settings

v2.5.0 adds a Music app for playing audio files and YouTube videos from the phone, with options to share playback nearby or with everyone. Each phone also gets its own flashlight settings.

🎡 Music App

GMs can make the Music app available through App Store settings.

  • The library lists tracks from Foundry playlists you have Observer access to. You can also save audio paths and YouTube links; these are stored separately for each phone and user.

  • Audio controls include seeking, volume, previous and next tracks, shuffle, and repeat. Playback continues when switching phone apps and stops when changing phones or closing the widget.

  • YouTube moves into a draggable mini player beside the phone when you switch apps. Returning to Music brings the video back without restarting it. Closing the mini player stops playback; hiding the browser tab pauses it.

  • Searching, editing tracks, and updating the library keep your current list position.

πŸ”Š Shared Playback

Three buttons below the volume slider choose who hears the music: Only me, Nearby, or Everyone.

  • Listeners follow play, pause, seeking, and track changes. Anyone who connects partway through joins at the current position. Shared YouTube tracks open a small player on each listener's screen.

  • Nearby music comes from the phone owner's token in the scene each listener is viewing and gets quieter with distance. Listening position follows a selected token, or owned tokens when none is selected. A GM with no selected token hears it at full volume.

  • Hearing distance defaults to By volume: half volume reaches half the configured distance. Fixed keeps the same range at any volume. Blocked by walls, enabled by default, stops nearby music at walls that block sound.

  • The sender's Music app volume is multiplied by each listener's Music volume in Foundry's Playlists tab. Personal playback also follows that Foundry volume setting.

πŸŽ›οΈ GM Music Controls

In Smartphone GM Settings > General, Players can play music for others controls player sharing.

  • Choose Not allowed (the default), Nearby only, or Nearby and everyone. GMs can share both ways regardless. Lowering permission immediately narrows or stops music players are already sharing.

  • The Master Phone's Music playing for others panel lists each sharing phone, its owner, track, reach, and playback state. Stop returns that phone to private listening. Player sharing permission can also be changed from this panel.

πŸ”¦ Flashlight Settings

Under Settings > Flashlight on the phone, the GM can adjust bright and dim radius, emission angle, light color and intensity, luminosity, and light animation.

  • Players can set up their flashlight in Smartphone GM Settings > General lets players edit their own phone's light. It is off by default; players see the settings locked until enabled.

  • Changes apply to tokens whose flashlight is already on. Reset to defaults restores the light settings used before this update.

  • The flashlight now uses the phone owner's token in the current scene, preferring a selected one. Phones without an owner Actor still use the selected token.

πŸ“± GM Master Phone

The Master Phone always has every app installed, including add-on apps, regardless of App Store installs. Apps cannot be uninstalled from it. Player phones keep their usual installation choices.

Bug Fixes

  • Token light after flashlight use: Turning off the flashlight now restores the token's previous light instead of clearing it completely.

Requires: Foundry VTT v13 or v14 and GlitchSmith Library v0.13.0 or later.
