The TK Sims - Modern Trio

I started learning Blender for the first time earlier this year, and since I have a lot of nostalgia for The Sims, I used this suggestion as an excuse to try and improve at the software. I had to figure out many, many things in order to put this together, including modelling, texturing, lighting, materials, camera setup, etc. It was a fun project! I was able to learn a lot from it.

(I've never uploaded a 3D model before, so hopefully that works.)
All objects in the apartment were modeled by me except for the doors and windows, which were generated from Blender's built-in architectural add-on.

Two things I just noticed: a) the spaghetti is still in the box, b) the fire is smack in the middle of the range top.

As someone who's been trying to pick up Blender as well, can I just say how inspirational this is? Any estimates on how long this took you, what the hardest parts were, etc.? Also, I love how the Modern TK 'verse has expanded from a few side sketches into a gradually fleshing out universe all its own.
It's hard to say exactly how long I spent on it, since I worked on it on and off casually during my free time. The project was first started on August 9th, so it was about a month, though a lot of that was going through Youtube tutorials, figuring out how to do specific things, learning what tools do what, etc. The difficult parts was probably figuring out how to work with textures such as those on the laptop keys, getting 2d characters to look nice and cast shadows for the camera, and modeling more curvy shapes like the gaming chair. Getting the lighting right was the most difficult part. It's very tricky to get everything lit right with nice shadows, without being too dark or ugly. Good luck with your Blendering! It takes time to learn, but it's pretty fun once you get the hang of it.

That is really nice, now if we could get a mod that lets us have Two Kinds type Characters I might actually play Sims.
This is definitely some of my favorite work Tom has ever made. I've never had so much fun doing a "virtual walkthrough" of a floorplan before! I don't know if Tom will do any more stuff like this in the future, but his skills with 3D modeling are certainly shining here!

My personal favorite detail is in the living room. You need to go over that in the 3D model to see it, but when you do, I know you're going to laugh.
This hits me in the nostalgia! Incredible, you certainly captured the feel of the game. So many cute and silly details, too! Speaking of, our girls' outfits are super cute.

It's just wonderful that we can not only see this sketch in colour, but also take a room tour with the modern trio. I wonder why Laura has a leash in her wardrobe. Probably the three of them want to get a dog.... Yeah, that must be it.
I mean... it's Laura. In any universe, I'd be more surprised if there WASN'T a leash in her closet 😏

it looks like a great home to be in and i bet they love it and like living together hopefully i could get invited every now and then if so i'd happily invite all of them to my home which is tardis like trailer
How deep does the Sim-ception go with Laura's computer?
She's probably done what most people do in sims style games, try to make a model of our own current home/dream home
Impressive work! The first image I actually thought was 2D and colored until I read the title and saw all the extra pictures you posted. Is this going to become a regular thing now or reserved for special pieces?
