Another thing I posted on the subreddit is that I've pondered the Natani question in this AU and may wish to address that in a future suggestion :)

K: "Is it because you think about what's going to happen AFTER the marriage? My, my, you were undressing me with your eyes!" A: "By the law, since when you got so... s-so..." K: "Dominant? I... had some expierience in Mekkan. But don't worry, those stupid pamphlet aren't worth a paper they were printed. I can show you *everything* you need to know" A: "A-Alright...." K: "Shh... look at me, Nick. You're the smartest, most handsome and the greatest person I've ever met. You matter to me. That's why I said yes. I will guide you through our first night togheter. Promise" A: "Yeah... Yeah! Let's do it!" An hour later, after the ceremony... A: "I changed my mind! I don't want to!" K: "You signed the documents. There's no way out of this, darling~" A: "But there was nothing about me being blindfolded and tied up and you being in a... black, tight, leather..." K: "You're shaking again, fluff. Didn't I tell you to I will guide you?" A: "But I-" K: "Shhh... calm down, love. Stop overthinking. We're now at the level higher than any tabboo, higher than any law or document. This is time you will finally act on your instincts, to listen to your heart!" A: "But I don't like this!" K: "Nick, I can see your tail. Both of them" A: *whimper* They had a great time and Alaric begs his husband to do it again

Theoretically, would basitin law allow this if they were able to defeat any objecters? It involves a general (possibly two) and it's obviously sanctioned by the king. Would they need to keep it secret other than to dodge the drama?
Possibly? I'd like to imagine there is a deep trust and friendship between Alaric and the King, so she's there to lend her royal endorsement and attend as a friend. Plus, as much as Alaric does love sticking it to the orthodoxy, this is such an intimate and sacred moment for him and Keith, so they probably agreed it's nobody else's damn business
See everyone's joking about what Lynn is saying, but knowing what we know about the Basitin from previous sketches, and the book he's reading from, it's more accurate to say he's actually reading a very long chain of legal clauses that in any other context would be sleep-inducingly boring, but everyone present is hearing them and crying with joy.
I'm just noticing that detail for the first time. "Big Book of Basitin Law," lol

Since I'm reading "The Hurricane Wars," I needed a moment to realize it wasn't that Alaric.
This woulda been an interesting ending for Keith, maybe he wouldn't have gone through as much suffering, or maybe the opposite
