Rooftop Dinner Date

I kind of love painting cityscapes. It's probably only because I don't often get the chance, since I run a fantasy webcomic. They're a lot of work to draw, but there's something about a nice city landscape that feels relaxing and melancholy, to me at least. Particular after dusk, with all the windows lit up. There's a certain dichotomy to it: the chaos of a busy city, but quieter at night, especially when seen from far above.
I rarely get the chance to be in cities personally (usually only when I go to conventions or on vacation) but I enjoy it, at least in small doses. Every time I look out at a city at night, I tend to find myself picking out a random window or car driving by and wondering what's going on with them. When I paint backgrounds like this, I try to invoke that same feeling. I attempt to add enough details that hopefully someone can look at it and wonder what might be going on back there.
That might just be me, though! :D

In the backround is s skyscraper but with a crystal sepwrating the bottom and top half of the skyscraper. BUT HOW DO PEOPLE GET UP OR DOWN?!

Good grief...I already gushed so hard about the sketch so I'll try not to go on too long here, but it looks even better in colour now! I adore Raine's purple jacket, it suits her quite well! Zen really, really likes black, doesn't he...and the city, you've given it a wonderful colour, fromt he gold of the TKNX tower to the distant glow of the mana tower to the far left, and the lights fading out to the mountain tops. I am sure that for both of them, it is a splendid date with a splendid view!

My only question is whether "exclamation lines" from Raine's mouth indicate a laugh after a witty line or an accidental belch after a good meal?
As always, I loved the sketch so the color is drop dead gorgeous! I can't help but wonder if Tom sees a ship as more likely between Raine and Zen or Raine and Red. I always seemed to think Red was more 'in love' with Raine and therefore more flustered and socially clumsy around her. It was sweet. Besides, Zen seemed more interested in Maren. I liked that ship as they each learned the other was a good person and worthy of affection. I apologize! I got the charachter names twisted in my memory! It's Sythe that is with Maren. Zen is flirty with Kat....

I ended up looking at the background for so long before I looked at the pair once.
I honestly always love seeing modern cityscapes that evolved from a fantasy world, seeing small hints of magical things like the glowing tower and all.
It is very VERY beautiful. I live in the near of two cities (Augsburg and Munich) and go sometimes in the cities if I need a new troop of Fire Warriors or a vehicle. Only a few times I saw the cities in the night and I really love these memories because I love the rain in combination with the lights of the stores. So… very beautiful picture :3.
I don't know if anyone noticed but if you look closely at the TKNX building, you can see the inside of it... THATS INSANE! TOMS INSANE WAAT

I see radio station TKNX in the background. At first, I thought the KNX stood for Knoxville until it hit me that the station's call sign started with TK. Now, all I have to do is figure out what NX stands for.
Tragically, in this timline Tommy James and the Shondells' "Tknx Tknx" never did take off.

There's something just just feels...unreal? Maybe that's not the right word, but whenever I see images or even movies with a well shot city scape, I tend to get lost in them too. I don't think I could ever live in a city though. Just imagining what it would be like is enough for me. Well done, like always tom. 💙
