Victorian Labor + Video Suggestion Thread
[Patreon Exclusive]
Hello Patrons,
Read the description for this one!
The winner of the last poll was a video on Victoria Labor. This started as the housing video we released last week which was heavily focused on Vic Labor. After that we weren't quite sure what we could do specifically do on Vic Labor that would still be relevant. So here are some of Jordan's thoughts on their current state. This video is just for the patrons because it's a more behind-closed-doors type of vid. if you have anything you'd like us to focus on let us know in the comments.
This also just applies for any video topic, not just Vic Labor. Put any of your next video suggestions here because we want to start making polls again so we can make more videos that you patrons want to see!
We should have the big China video mentioned here ready for you over the weekend too. You'll be getting it early, of course.

Late to this but my take is that Dan Andrews is a sick cunt, and it was clear because he had a national profile as high as Scott Morrison. I wonder how Scotty felt, to be playing second fiddle to a Victorian premier? Nah but Victoria is pretty good, if they can inject some more cash into the country to fix some roads which is all I ever hear anybody whinge about, they'll keep getting elected for the next century
I’m a Victorian. Truthfully can’t thank the Labor government enough or even process the amount of work they’ve done but weirdly enough I think the exhaustion comes out the most with those urban developments. You said there it’s like outer space, here it’s like Ctrl C. There’s a tad less character (which I by no means saying that a Liberal party would effectively) in each of our suburbs. The most opinionated and dare I say beloved suburb of the lot is Frankston because a lot of it is a shit hole. It’s funny. It has character (and not the type “character” that Mr Bandt had been proclaiming the CBD has). The most interesting thing that’s happened in my suburb for a long time is that a new restaurant was built in suburb next to mine. Our suburbs grow by us claiming a new thing (shit or not) outside of it because everything else within the suburb is already good. I don’t know whether half of the suburbs people talk about actually exist. At a social level, suburbs aren’t designated by zones, the things in the suburb end up preceding the identity of what the suburb is. It’s not the KFC in Newscastle, it’s “Chelsea Heights? that’s the one by the GYG right?” and the GYG WILL BE IN THE SUBRUB OVER. It’s stupid and hilarious. I know that there’s the whole “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mantra, but the one thing I’d like to see more of from Victoria is innovation. I appreciate now knowing what they’ve been doing to the electricity grid.
Victorians think you never talk about them? Try being South Australian!
The libs have had 4 leaders in 4 years they can't organise themselves little lone the state. thier policies is no Labor is fucked isn't really a ticket to be backing. The danger for them is the "anyone but them vote" that is a lazy way of voting but one that will cost seats. Grey vote is tired of the spending probs because the benefits will be realised when they are in the ground so like holding onto generational wealth they don't want it to go to the youth off their pay lol
Rabbit reveal? 😍🐇
A video adjacent to digital privacy in the my health record rollout. Excellent idea but not very well implemented, there was an amendment in 2018 that improved some of the concerns. This could then segway into the new social media ban for <16 year olds and how everyone will have to prove their age and (possibly) identity online.
Analysis on the Vic Libs was shonky here. Deeming was not a Neo-Nazi, but a conservative TERF who was gatecrashed by neo-nazis. Persutto effectively cooked up the defamatory nazi slander to try and isolate her and her supporters from the party, and courts found it was defamatory. That's what his undoing was, he made a daft decision to succumb to pressure from key faction backers to defame her and effectively got his arse handed to him. Having access to an inside perspective on what happens inside the Vic Libs, this is what has happened. Initially, a reactionary religious right suburban group of members started doing mass recruitment drive into the party and taking over. This freaked out the rich wets, who didn't want these sort of Abbot types dominating the party. Hence they orchestra faction counter attacks to purge those members and isolate that growing conservative membership base. The problem for the wets was, they needed numbers and a new constituency to counter act that (arguably legitimate) recruitment. So they started appealing to South Asian migrants, who now effectively out right pay people to turn up to branch meetings and branch stack. Effectively the wets had found people who aligned with their values - money, above all else. In a rather unsettling way, these people are importing corrupt developing world style politics directly into Australia, with the endorsement of these old guard wet Libs. Having also heard how some of their old guard ministers think and see the world, absolutely makes me shudder and spine crawl just thinking what would happen if these people somehow got into government. I think the electorate sees through this though. Just look at Julian Hill's opponent last Fed election 😂
I'll admit, I was hoping for a few obvious nitty gritty things with stats about VIC so I could more easily make memes for the next VIC election.
More Picking specific sky news political points and dismantling then
Victorian Socialist seem to be the burgeoning whinge merchants.
Living in rural VIC for over 1 year and damn that's accurate, the people just do not understand the government here and simplify it like it's all shit, they're all corrupt etc... And really most the people vocal about it aren't just not voting for Labor or Liberal, they're not voting at all or for the fringes that will never gain real power. I also moved from Adelaide so I've really been beaten by both ends of the stick.
Hi ya, QLD LNP is seeking to change up the boundaries of electorates in a return to some Joh level tactics. I've included the link to the submissions LNP's is 110 and Labor's is 115. LNP straight up asking for a whole seat to be removed but for two to be added. Labor is basically asking for the QRC's independence to be respected but also for districts to be resized to maintain quota rather than ripping apart one seat that is currently held by labor to add another two in other areas of the state. I'd love to see another "where are they now" looking at Marc Di Stefano, because of course he works for the AFR now
I, too, am smart enough to know that I'm stupid, or at least ignorant. I look forward to this video on China, because I don't know much about China and I've never been there and I'm scared of China. I mean bureaucracy works beautifully smoothly when you crush dissent under tanks, doesn't it? (I look forward to Jordan quoting this in his best Greens-voter-Guardian-subscriber voice). I think if you want ruthless efficiency, you'd better get the Spanish Inquisition - unexpected I admit, but ruthless. I'd rather elect people with ruth :)
Oddly enough, the Spanish inquisition was not unexpected at all. It was created after a Papal Bull issued by Pope Sixtus IV in 1478, and lasted until 1821.
"I seem, then, in just this little thing to be wiser than this man at any rate, that what I do not know I do not think I know either." Socrates (https://quotesexplained.com/wisest-man-alive-i-know-nothing)
Koala National Park It’s just been announced by the Minis government
Seen the Tom Tanuki video RE. August 31st? (to get your interest, it shows Avi Yemini getting kicked out by Nazi's in Melbourne)
Coverage of the breaking news that NSW will finally establish the Great Koala National Park, and has placed a moratorium on logging in all of those forest areas assessed for the park: all 176,000 hectares!
Can we get a video breaking down the labor factions?
How can they ban gas in new builds (awesome) and then just try and tax all EV drivers? you with the future or against it. thats about my knowledge of VIC politics haha As for china, they are absolutly the winner, they are a great global citizen and people need to look at America how they are being told to look at china. As long as we have AUKUS, we have a target on our backs.
Because we need to pay for the fucking roads those EV drivers use, who also create more damage to the roads due to the higher average weight of the EV vehicle. They literally aren't currently paying for the maintenance of roads. It's a long needed change.
I'd take an exhausted, semi-comatose Labor government over a fresh LNP government every time.
A video on the proposed pause to NCC (National construction code). I know you’ve made videos with Zeher (site inspections) in the past about the shortcomings of trades and regulatory bodies in the industry but this is genuinely concerning. The code is probably 10 years behind where it should be and non compliance is rampant. I’m a construction manager with over 10 years carpentry experience and the industry is the worst I’ve ever seen it. Pride, skill and industry experience is evaporating. My concern is that the duration of the mortgage is longer than the life span of the homes we are building.
I could go on and on. I have heard from managers of very large established companies who have operated for 50+ years that they are moving away from residential apartment building due to not being able to compete with companies who “phoenix” meaning a company who will operate for a short time or a few builds before being dissolved to ensure no liability or obligation in the event of issues. Personally I’m witnessing an influx of imported building products these are not codemarked and they don’t have MSDS (material safety data sheets)
I'd love to see Jordan react/talk about Gary Stevenson from Gary's economics.
wHy wOz DAn aNDreWs iN CHOINA! Seriously though. What was he doing there? How does it relate to whatever he's doing these days?
Look up the sloan zone
Do the Hobbits live in Tecoma, still protesting the McDonald's that's been there over a decade? 😜 Video suggestion 😆😆😆
Every new Estate in Victoria is more and more cramped. I know this because im in them delivering to the construction. People won't park in their own garages, or their empty driveways. But we still have to build in there
Higher density is okay if a trade off for centrality. Those who already lived there beforehand get cranky, but coming in from, I dunno, the Dandenong Ranges, it's brilliant near a real train (no offence Puffing Billy) and where surrounding suburbs are also useful and mere minutes away
People are seeing massive results here in Victoria. But there's still News Corp. Talking mad shit about every little thing. And of course there's an election coming so the "youth crime epidemic" has returned to front page of the Herald Sun
More reality TV reacts to appease my inner swine.
IDK if China's in the ascent if they're still copying stuff and have to invade their neighbors for resources.
Copying stuff? Have you been to China? Big cities like Shenzhen make Melbourne look backwards
Do a deep dive on how majorly the Liberals fucked over the Sydney Metro
React to this video on the nazis at the immigration rallies: https://youtu.be/GLRoFdeI_5Y?si=zoDTdvVGh2F9VuJK
Are you slow? He has 2 already
a video on the WA Labor party would be interesting they go under the radar but they've achieved a lot in the 8 years in govt they've had, and still another 4 years before the next election and nearly wiping the liberals out of WA is huge
That one goes under the radar how dominant WA Labor were what a route.
I'd love to see jordies do an investigation into the LNP's handling of the Sydney Metro and the contracts involved in it.
I think for Victoria just a video about how the Victorian liberals are just so incompetent and they’re self sabotaging themselves
Do a video on the liberal party essentially becoming QAnon because all that questioning in question time just sounds like conspiracy theory shit all cooked up by Sky News after dark
80s Vic Labor had a liberal held senate. We don't want a repeat of that. We want to increase the numbers of Labor senators somehow. Great behind the scenes though.
I was going to say, the grift of people like punters politics, he's now a lobbyist to snark. And honest government has now done a video attacking Norway now. And therefore the workers. I'm glad Jordan mentioned the article from Minnie and snark, I am glad I have a word for the whinge merchants now. And it was funny how Shane used to say how much he was earning from Patreon then one day just went quiet.
Honestly Alex, Jordan should talk more about the specific Big "Whinge Merchants" Like TheJuiceMedia and how they operate and go into detail on why how scummy there are. I promise I'm not making this up but hear my rant for a second; A month or two ago (I don't remember) I made a Vid Suggestion of them and it gotten 20+ Likes or something around that, and i was pretty positive that it would definitely be included in the voting, but it didn't made it in the polls, and it felt weird for me because i definitely know that it should've made it in the polls and look, it's Jordan choice if he doesn't want to make a video on them now or yet, but it doesn't exactly makes sense to me, it's not a secret what you think of those guys so why have you said nothing yet? I'm pretty sure it be doing a public service if you go into detail in an essay video like 50 minutes or something about their ethics and truly pointing out why their shit other than disproving some of their points, as i felt like just leaving it more and more will have them get more unnecessary influence in the populace and the faster this gets countered the better, not to mention his pervious association with them and why he cut ties with them (He cameoed in at least one of their videos) so I don't understand why he'd still be silent on this, at the very least I'd think it be fair if i was at least told why he hasn't made a video on them specifically yet considering i'm helping to financially support him and i'm not trying to like use that as to put myself morally high i just feel like that's fair to be a bit transparent on the situation, I'm not even writing this in a demanding tone I'm just confused regarding the situation and whenever or not if it's going to be addressed because it definitely should be.
Can we get Jordies to do a tier list of Auspolitcs content creators
Shit on the ABC. You've gone soft on them. Their coverage of Dan Andrews at a WWII commemoration is nothing short of disgusting. They completely obscured the fact that it was to commemorate Japan's surrender, instead plastering everywhere DAM ANDREWS ATTENDS CHINA MILITARY PARADE. Eta apologies if you cover the above in this post, haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet
I didn't realise they took the sky news headlines for that.
As a Victorian, the press is going after Labor like mad even by Victorian standards. I guess they're smelling weakness with Dictator Dan retired. The press at least believe Labor is in trouble and are capitalizing on it.
Yes. We have a messaging problem and also no positive cheer squad for them in the media. It's why Jordan needs to be that voice. He's mentioned good points to promote too.
And people his hyperbolic sarcastic comedy is why he can't run for parliament.
I'm sure Adu is on here and going to quote him.
Warhammer 40K vid
Yes, please come down here and take over the Tasmanian Gov't
ACT Labor video when
Or a video about how the ACT Liberals have consistently fumbled election after election for like 25 years
Warhammer players confess your sins Friendlyjordies intro tier list
Hey Jordies, would love to hear you on the Socially Democratic podcast. Run by Dan Andrews’ ex campaign manager and sometimes his partner (ex-chief of staff to Dan Andrews) is cohosting. Would be great to chat vic Labor with them and shoot the shit with them
Is Kev Rudd gonna make an appearance on the Ablo x China relations video?
For real
Vic Labor itself is great, but we have a messaging issue. The high rises that the greens love to point out that Labor is kicking people out of, they are literally falling apart. The people are being moved to houses, not apartments and they have to choice to move back, and most have said no. it's funny how the Vic socialists will attack bad landlords for not maintaining properties, but when the government wants to do that, it's an issue too. Otherwise Vic Labor is doing great, unfortunately the masses don't know and they need to know.
I would love to see a how it started / how it's going on the NSW council mergers.
liberals are hopeless in Victoria. The recent poll shows that they had a sizeable lead in the 2pp, but viclabor has closed back to within 1% of the libs. I agree with jordies on that there will be a correction, but hopefully vic labor gets a 4th term.
People love to complain about all the roadworks and train disruptions but I am constantly pointing out that we are building the biggest ongoing network in the country. Labor are not just doing a Gladys and haphazardly building a single tram line, they are planning decades ahead. No government has had the foresight to think about, not only a modern Australia can look like, but what Australia can be in 50 years.
Gladys also pushed a bs single deck train to spite the unions
I for one would like a WA glaze session
Update on future made in Australia 🇦🇺
Vic Labor is suspect they will hold government for probably one more term, the media have been hounding the living shit out of vic labor for literally everything, from machete bins, big build, SRL, Crime, emergency services the list goes on. Maybe a one term Tory just to show the electorate that the libs are completely incompetent so labor gets in and keeps vic in a solid position
But the damage from that we can't afford.
Labor’s NDIS reforms + how years of Liberal neglect put the whole scheme at risk by turning it into a source of easy cash for unscrupulous providers.
Yes. The autistic parents world are getting very vocal about potentially not getting funding for Thier child that has moderate autism. I've read comments from people claiming to be occupational therapists, suggesting that some parent groups use the NDIS as a baby sitter instead of spending time with Thier kids. I'd bet they are usually in inner suburbs and able to afford the diagnosis easily unlike working class outer suburbs going from the lack of specialists outside of the inner city of Melbourne or Sydney.
React to the Joh Bjelke-Petersen doco
The dan Andrews incident is too fucking funny not to atleast make a skit about.
