Harpies - High Res Gallery

Hey All,

Today I'd like to present my completed unit of Harpies. These creatures were a real slog!

Some of you may have seen the WIP a few weeks ago, of the early stage conversions. They were made from the Warcry Chaos Furies and the heads from the plastic Daemonette kit - something that I thought was really fitting for not only bringing the Harpy models closer to their traditional WHFB artwork, but also giving a cheeky wink to the Slaaneshi influence that permeates through the Dark Elves.

I find that Harpies in WHFB and TOW can sometimes fall into the trap of being quite silly or comical, so it was a great exercise to try and create a paintjob for them that was a little scarier and menacing.

It was also great fun to add lots of features to the pallid skin, which I will prepare a tutorial for very soon. The tutorial will cover concepts and recipes for not only the skin, but how to add subtle details to help add lots of character (including lacerations, blood effects, colour transitions etc). So keep your eye out for it soon!
