High Elf Great Eagle - High Res Gallery
After our gaming session the other day I really felt the need to add a bit more flexibility to my High Elf army. I’ve spent a lot of time building and painting plenty of infantry units, but my army was lacking when it came to flexible units that could perform specialist roles such as warmachine hunting and charge redirection. Since then I have painted up a small squad of Shadow Warriors, which I’m really happy with, and have just finished a great eagle to join the army.
The great eagle was such a nice change of pace from every other unit in the army. The approach I’ve taken with my High Elves really focuses on bright colours with a pristine finish, which means they take a really long time to paint. The eagle was the complete opposite of this. Usually I reserve dry-brushing almost exclusively for painting bases, I find it too imprecise when it comes to painting the actual miniatures. The eagle is 90% dry-brushed, and it was so nice to just quickly knock out a model with minimal effort. All of the feathers are dry-brushed and then black-linned with Nuln Oil Gloss, and the only actual brush work I did was around the face and beak, and on the legs and talons.
Hopefully he will be the bane of Adam’s bolt throwers for many years to come.
I hope you enjoy the high resolution pics!
