That first story obviously had the thing that happens too often with nosleep. The author realized they were writing for redditors, so they couldn't have the birth mark be the reason she was fired. So she picked some issue that redditors wouldn't get angry about, but left the setup for the other ending in it.

I feel like they would enjoy a story called "A Fig for All The Devils" by C.S. Fritz. I'm pretty far into it and I can kinda see them enjoying it.

I think the last story is meant to be an allegory for cult CSA. The girl gets taken to a figure of religious authority by her willing parents where and is violated, learning in the process that the "god" they worship is nothing more than a withered, decrepit figure head that preys on its offerings. So much of the language and imagery is sexually tinted or phallic, the gushing probiscus down her throat, the creatures "pushing" and "throbbing" inside her, the fact that she sees "sticks with bells at the end." It all builds the image that she was abused by the cult, and her moment of clarity at the end is not her becoming god but in reality its her seeing through the lie and realizing that everything is built on it.

I don't mind if protagonists are gay but if your going to draw attention to it I just think that it should matter more for the story. In the first story it felt a bit heavy handed when there was no significant reason to even mention it you feel me
Imo her relationship with her wife was in there bc it shows a different path that could be taken. Her wife also did the sketchy pictures but had the wherewithal to be like this is a bad idea, and not go farther. The protagonist, even though she has a support system of someone who knows exactly what she’s going through, who tells her they should back off, goes through with it anyways. So, I guess the addition of the mother’s hatred of Dorian gray, and the homoerotic themes and gay author was drawing attention to lgbt issues and the censorship of books in schools, and that wasn’t rlly relevant to the horror aspect, nor did it rlly get explored (other than the devaluation of education, which is a theme seeing as the main character is a teacher that has to sell her ass for money despite working a full time job as an educator). But other than the Dorian gray thing, I am kinda confused abt why you didn’t like that the main character was LGBT?

I think the idea of the ending is that this company knew she would be back because they were going to do the hit and run. 1. Stops the wife from talking about the illegal stuff going on 2. Gives our main character a motive to do these vile acts for the company

Stories don't all need to "break the mold" in order to be compelling, good stories can and do come from predictable or worn out plot beats. I liked the simplicity of the first story's main plot, even though I could predict the next part it was still interesting. What knocked it down for me was the hamfisted social commentary that really had no bearing on anything else. IMO, it would have been much better incorporated with the idea of her students knowing it's her and that getting out to the parents. I mean if the author then wants to strawman one or both sides of whatever current issue, then that's their prerogative. But for that story specifically, I think the teacher giving in to the more gruesome parts of that job and having to reconcile her reasoning against the complaints levied against her would be more compelling than the driving force being a strawman.

Baaack in the day hunter and Isaiah were joking about having a majority male fanbase, riffing on the small amount of girls who listen and the term "the seven sisters" was uttered in an ENTIRELY non serious way. At the time a few girls started doing a cute little homage check in on every episode. Was very genuine and like legit 7/8 girls would "check in". Was a harmless and tbh wholesome little "thing", esp Seeing as there are SO MANY WOMAN who are major fans. Idk what in the hell happened but it was not even a "look at us!" Thing for the whole time UNTIL recently, inexplicably "they" (god I'm losing braincells tryna honestly frame this dumbness) anyway, 'the 7 sisters" suddenly weren't their harmless selves and maybe via takeover? Idk. But 👇✨check-ins🙄 started multiplying in every comment section. Making it feel annoying, cliquey (these are adults) and pick-me combined with quirky/we're not like other girls. The entire story of The Picture of Dorian Gray is "sensitive" material. It is entirely about hedonism, the denial of God, and the cost of an immoral lifestyle. It is by no means something inappropriate for highschoolers though. I can definitely see a conservative Christian mom bitching about it. Oscar Wilde was also gay, hence the character saying "California loves the gays". It is a damned good book that I read in high school though. The main reason the picture gets "hideous" is his immoral actions (along with his age).

If you mean explicitly sexual, gay or heretical. It's all very much *implied. Also recall that the one guy (our narrator) who's trying to call him back to God is actually the only one who has, again , !implied! homosexual feelings. The guy is a terrible person and a murderer. It's Gothic 'horror'. From the 1890's. The only issue*** is Oscar Wilde was unapologetically gay and also a genius. In a time I suppose, not that different from now, sadly,is that people were pearl clutching false puritans. The book is certainly about how acting depraved reflects on the soul aka the portrait. But I had nothing to do with today's perception of what conservative Christian is. It was about morality, ethics, not destroying everything around you for self gain. And Oscar wilde making the one Voice of Reason whose trying to save the day, save dorian, remind him of how pure and wonderful he once was, THE MAIN religious and good guy, seems to be lost on everyone who calls it sensitive or against Christianity

Story 2 and 3 were great, favorite was the 3rd, personally. The 1st one really seems like it barely survived the cutting room. So many things were started and never followed up on, and the only work on the part of the reader being putting 2 and 2 together on who hit Wren (Howard). It isnt a bad story, but lots of missed opportunities. It would have been cool to see the moment of the student realizing who they were get expounded upon in the conversation regarding the reading list, like maybe she explains herself (DOESNT get in trouble for books, that was dumb) and when the parent leaves shes asked about the videos. Create a greater feeling of regret but also desperation. The relationship with her boss deteriorating as her desperation increases helps you to synpathise better than just having an SO in the hospital. You can tell thats where it was GOING to go, but for some reason never came around. Just wish it had gotten more polish and care, but otherwise the premise is perfect. The conflict of wanting to care for someone in need is such a great drive and a good challenge for our protagonists, its just odd how in conflict it seems at times when the desperation was already set up so well

I’m an art teacher and I did onlyfans in the past. I started when I was 21 and stopped a year or so ago when I was 25/26. I stopped because it was just way too depressing and even thinking about filming content made me so upset. The Picture of Dorian Grey hits like The Spire in the Woods. The supernatural elements are tangential to the actual horror of the story which is how all of the main characters little cruelties and selfish decisions kill and maim people around him. Then, at the end, it all catches up to him and he has to come to terms with the fact that he is a horrible person who has done horrible things. Actually, the fact that both of the stories kick off the horror with a jilted paramour killing themself should probably be taken as a statement of intention. Basically, the Picture of Dorian Grey is a psychological horror. While I think it's perfectly fine for a seventeen year old to read it, forcing an entire class of seventeen year old to read it is not a good idea. Most will be fine, but some of the kids will be traumatized and others will get entirely the wrong message. Not firing bad but definitely worth a having a talk about.

It can be found in the first version of the story - the 13 chapter publication, NOT the censored 20 chapter one. The 'indecent' parts of Basil's confession are removed in the 20 chapter version due to the Victorians not being cool with homosexuality; Considering this book was used as evidence against Oscar Wilde during his trial, you'd think it was incredibly vulgar, right? WRONG - these are the bits removed from Basil's confession in chapter 9 of the 20 chapter version: (found in chapter 7 of the 13 chapter version) "[...] It is quite true that I have worshipped you with far more romance of feeling than a man should ever give to a friend. But it certainly wasn't terrible, they have good writing ability, so maybe in the future as the author grows so will their narrative depth. Happy Appy was such a double edged sword. On one hand, im happy the boys read happy appy as the episode itself was really funny, the crash out was hilarious and a lot of viral clips came out of it. But on the other hand i curse happy appy as it has made the boys so hesitant to read long stories. To put it into perspective, in the past roughly 6 months since happy appy they have only read 3 stories over 3 hours long (doesnt help that 2 of the stories were pretty bad). Whereas in the 6 months before reading happy appy, they had done like 8 or 9 stories over 3 hours long.
Isaiah welcomed a baby into the family 6 months ago. So he likely just doesn't have time for extra long stories. The videos on his channel have also gotten shorter on average
