The Man In My Basement Takes One Step Closer [Ad-Free]

this is apart of a greater universe of a ton of EXTREMELY solid short stories, the stories that paul explains sometimes reference them
this reminds me of "The Hidden Webpage" although a little less dream like
7 steps I think represents the 7 stages of grief of him losing his childhood friend
Santa Clause is my favourite tulpa
Am I in the minority in thinking that this is a better story than "we used to live here"? The setting and the entire vibe is just so much more vibrant and harrowing
Yeah I agree it's much better than we used to live here in my opinion. The story works much better with the horror elements hitting much harder . Definitely one of my favourites they've read
That sneeze had a bit extra at 26 minutes
Okay am I missing something? I really don’t like the ending of this. I get it’s a metaphor and everything but It felt like all the build up led absolutely nowhere. All these connecting points and through lines are just scatter gunned out with no end point to any of it. I get that is the point but to me it feels cheap. Not saying every monster/entity has to lose in a final battle or anything, just saying it felt like the author had a bigger idea and got bored with it at the end and just decided to end it. I know he can do endings well, I absolutely loved the ending of “We Used to Live Here”. Just felt like the weight of the story fell flat to the metaphor of the ending to me
I agree it fell very flat to me.
The how to survive a bear speech seems to be explaining how to survive the intruder.
this is such an important story/episode to me. it gave me the courage and inspiration i needed to step away from an abusive relationship. im about a month out and it's hard, but i know it'll get easier. one step at a time. thank you for reading this story, boys. what you do has more of an effect than you may realize<3

Howie in the begininning reminds/give me the same vibe as Reed, the neighbor in I Live in Your House by Patrick McDonald. Maybe it’s the voice, but he just gives you this uneasy feeling while being perfectly “normal”
Super late in commenting but it is giving generational trauma and the fear of becoming what your parents were, yet the issue is, we have to accept they are a part of us. Maybe not our interactions but while I hate my mom, I know some of my little ticks are just like hers. The way I speak, the same I worry about small things, the need to make things happy when it is not, and the fear of being alone. I am able to accept that I am so much like her yet I am not. She's an alcoholic and I drank lately and thought "you're just like her" but that isn't true. It reminds me of Brandon's thoughts here. This is a story about carving your own path into a happy life and not having it be made for you by the cards you're dealt.
This is just like that movie The Time Traveller's Wife
So interesting how the protagonist finds himself in Paul’s house, this to me seems like this paranoia causes them to act in this way and inadvertently become the “intruder” yet it may really just be the fact that the more they feed into this story the paranoia grows and the more they talk to one another it repeats like a cycle and whoever gets looped into it continues it. Very interesting, great story.
The recurring number of 7 stands for days of the week
late, but this story was a rollercoaster
Supernatural isreal
I love you guys, but it is so funny how often you guys miss read scenes 😂😂 like the whole jumping into Paul’s part
As a gay, I need a Mr. Widemouth shirt that says "don't be gay."
If you guys like the movie "I'm Thinking of Ending Things", you truly should check out h The book it's based on of the same name. It carries a LOT more weight than the film does and does this run thing where re-reading the chapter introductions after finishing the book tells a completely different story than what you first experienced, based on new context. It's a pretty short read, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
honestly one of the most powerful and moving stories they’ve ever read
Probably the best one since Stolen Tongues!
Not afraid to admit that the end of the story was very beautiful and made me tear up. This story hit at the right time for me. Currently been feeling stuck in old habits and addiction all the while telling myself that I'll be fine without actually confronting my issues at all. Hell of a story fellas.
🥲
What a solid story streak
My bedroom door is all of about 3 feet from my very very creepy basement door. Love this story. 🙃🙃🙃
Late on this but there’s 7 days in a week and a lot of bad stuff happens when 7 repetitions of something happen at once which is akin to rushing through instead of the whole positive spin on “one step each week”
zero y
1:10:30 it'd be cool if maybe theres a jogger or someone who runs by every day and wears this hat while doing so and one day they just stop showing up and he goes downstairs and its wearing the hat
This gotta be one of the best episodes of the show. This story was just so good.
🙏
after some research i've found that polterkites has a whole cinematic universe! most of their other stories are in the same universe with links between creatures and characters so reading one of the other ones or a bunch of the shorter ones would be so awesome to see from you guys. loved this one and your guys' reactions
It definitely would be cool 👀
To me the 7 steps referred to one step a day, 7 days a week. So 7 steps. But maybe thats too simplistic.
Damn this was some good creeping
Great username.
how dare wendi complain about the lord of the rings reference that line banged
paul saying he’d rather kill himself than try to hide him killing someone drunk driving in the psych ward gave me CHILLS
Omg! And then the driver who hit the kid ended up killing himself because he felt so guilty too!!
The fact I was looking for that book the DAY before this come out having no idea it was based on a creepypasta is actually kind of insane.
3:12:07 “6,7”
Why did Hunter start describing the coatrack and ticcitobbi and how it would scare him, I’m crying
The seven sisters did NOT appreciate that comment Isaiah 🙂↔️
my name is zach and my brothers name is brandon this was crazy
They need to make a movie of this story
Ugggggg patreon restarting every time I go back to this is hitting hard with this episode
Remember that paul/“Paul” didn’t remember the conversation in the woods they had about the bear…but Brandon was the bear, Brandon remembers that conversation with “Paul.” I think that was future Brandon speaking through Paul to give him the tools and skill for his interaction. It’s future Brandon looking out for past Brandon, the bear he’s talking to is future and past him. Hence him stepping forward. Love this story.
Just when I feel like we had wrung out most of the good older stories, we get this banger
The way these characters and scenarios are laid out is so insanely Lynchian.
Bingo
SPOILER COMMENT (read at own risk): I'm two weeks late to the convo, but wanted to add: the seven steps refer to the seven stages of grief, often associated with traumatic events. And my second point, to address the bear in the room, the main topic follows joint grief surrounding Covid. I think Covid primarily plays a roll in addressing grief as the primary subject of the story, but also provides an equal footing for everyone reading.
What I got from this story is that the monster is an allegory for a conspiracy and the characters are allegories for conspiracy theorists. The monster was able to take root in the main character's mind from the note the one character left on his door, like a conspiracy theory being fed to you. Once the monster got in, it used all the others to reinforce its hold on our main character through this web of conspiracy, like an echo chamber where you might find conspiracy theorists bouncing their wild theories off each other. By our main character separating himself from the echo chamber the others are in, he effectively breaks free from the monster's control. Always been split on stories where the monster is or isn't real, but this story makes that very problem the core of the story. Very much a story of its time being written during the COVID pandemic and taking place in it, which I recall brought about a surge of conspiracy theorists.
I think the story is about having a weak mentality. For example, him wanting to drink and smoke at the end gave the monster the influence over him. I think the getting over the coat rack is by working on yourself I know a lot of people that has mental problems And I like how they represent it by their paranoia becoming the reality.
who up being gay af
my dad’s name is howard so i’m just seeing my dad in like a seymour from little shop ass costume and it made this episode infinitely funnier
I kinda wish they talked more about how Brandon literally became the new Paul. Paul tells Brandon to not meet again then disappears completely. Brandon is speaking like him, smoking the same packs as him, and even having blackouts.
👀
don’t come at me for depressed zillow searches.
100% a allegory for ocd, been I therapy for ocd for long time, it’s clear as day to me.
2:38:42-2:40:33 pov of the guy sitting on the toilet next tome last week when I got Explosive diarrhea mid work day barricaded in the bathroom stall next to him *change the thwack noise to farts*
This story has reignited my inspiration to finish my own story. So good! ETA: this sounds like a story meant to represent the obsession that comes after a sudden and traumatic loss. You want to find out 'why?' because nothing makes sense, there's no way it was just an accident.
The moment a tulpa was mentioned, I recalled the Pinkie Pie story.
Sound design was peak, loved this one!!
As much as you love to see hunter being tortured by bad stories, you love to see this man actually loving his job 😂
What if the man in the basement is death? So many characters are dealing with death and their fear of it that they became paranoid until they finally accept their fate
The only steps ik are the 2 steps
Isnt the diner the same one at cedar point
u guys should read we used to live here
👀
possibly one of my fave episodes! 💚 well done!
Creeped my cast so hard to this story
ISAIAH
Was anyone else screaming GREYLOCK! When Isaiah was explaining Tulpas to Hunter?
2:36:06
A2 prodigy!!! The gooners of creeping our cast will be 100% the next Kane pixels of creepy pastas
I can’t keep creeping it like this it’s taking a toll
Nothing to do with the story but I really want to hear Wendi talk about the anime Kaiba
Ever since I listened to this episode, I haven't stopped using COATRACK as a curse word
i literally just started we used to live here after finishing the caretaker. i had no idea this was based on a creepy pasta.
On a plane
I was waiting for a good long scary story and this one was it.
Petroleum…
Every time the story mentions some kind of cryptid I always think of Supernatural. And the moment word Tulpa flashed on the screen I just heard the opening notes of Don't Fear the Reaper by BOC.
I feel sad seeing the subreddit posts now. The mods of reddit have made me hate the app so much i fuckin deleted that hoe
Ahhhhh I’m about to Creep 😫
Just got dead space spoilers in the middle of the vid bruh
The seven stages of grief
Bit personal, but it reminds me of when I first started having generalized anxiety and panic attacks, without knowing what was happening to me. I started following "rules" to be safe, tried to avoid it, trying my best to ignore and get back to normal. Ended as well as you can imagine. It only got better when I started therapy, facing what "haunted" and finally realized it was just a part of myself, that wanted to be acknowledged. But I guess the story can be interpreted in several ways.
This story is up there with the classic CreepCast episodes for me. Every time I listen to it, I notice something new in the story.
Man this is the most beautiful and accurate representation of OCD and obsession… my mouth was agape the whole time, every part of the story is so masterfully crafted. I really relate to the narrators struggles and the acceptance of the entity as well as the unknown of it. It really hit OCD on the head. I feel represented!!!
This is great story and the ending doesn't suck. Absolutely an all timer
This is by far my favorite story read on the podcast. It’s so beautifully written and really inspired me to be more creative and write more
This was incredible. So scary
Or at the very least, accept the fact it bothers you and that’s okay too 🫶
I’ve read We Used to Live Here and absolutely loved it, it’s still in my top 5 favorites. So hyped to hear another one of his works!
Thanks for reading :)
4 hours in and I feel like Brendon is a mental patient and this whole thing is a shudder island situation
I’m 1:50:11 seconds in so light spoilers: my theory is that the entity in the basement is more like a species of something and the father is the entity that took on his form or maybe even body and another one is in the protags house
I LOVE THIS. The vibe of the intruder kind of reminds me of the Lady in the Lake from the Haunting of Bly Manor. In vibes alone really but I love the vibe.
Just got back from vacation, saved this for my first day back at work. Ngl, it's getting me through the day. Obligatory "creeping one step further every cast" joke
This whole thing reads to me like a beautifully written analogy of OCD and intrusive thoughts
That was my exact thought!!
I would say the 7 steps are for the 7 stages of grief, since the Brandon is dealing with so much loss in the story with his father and his best friend.
Some stories really just stand out. This was amazing
💛
i really loved how this story would gently bring back ideas from earlier in the story, like talking about death and the fog from its nose and then with the bear. i think the seven steps could relate to the bear maybe? and him taking the step forward was accepting rather than running away
Moral of the story if you let it bother you for a day it’ll bother you for a week, if you let it bother you for a week it’ll bother you for a month, so just don’t let it bother you
This is some of the best voice acting yet. Jesus
The Seven Sisters have been remembered and celebrated
I always appreciate a random segue into shitting on no sleep.
Wish people would actually talk about the story and not all memes.... but that was such a good story, one I enjoyed in a long time had to stop what I was doing to listen several times.
Beautiful story. Kept me entertained for my trip to and from my camping trip this week! First half Monday, second half just now.
Wtf is at 5:10:24 LMAO
7 stages of grief
Oh hi
Switchblade, cold blue eyes and red sun mentioned
Wait, when is the red sun mentioned?
Hello fellow seven coat racks
This was perfect for my 6 and a half hour drive ty
new favorite for sure
Not sure if you guys will see this but hunter dropped Isiah’s baby’s name again and it wasn’t censored!
Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴
This is an insane thing to say out of context but the "invincible pedophile" bit has to be one of my favorite recurring jokes on the show. Gets a laugh out of me every time.
The story was very good but I don’t understand what happened
Never mind. Wendi’s explanation made it make sense.
I'd honestly love if this was adapted into a movie. Kind of gives me "Talk to me" vibes where it's a scary premise with this great theme about grief and trauma
This crazy timing I just read both mentioned Markus Kliewer’s books oh my god
**SPOILERS** Howie, a fat little goofball possibly being connected to the intruder, and even the name Zach is sooooo Deadly Premonition
Blessed with a full work day creepin it
this was an amazing story!! going to go pick up one of their books now
I may type this all out and decide its not worth posting. A little over 2 years ago I began smoking weed every day to manage my more severe symptoms of anxiety that had cost me my job. At first I was better off and able to live more normally, but slowly it took over my daily life. Every waking second spent planning when I could smoke next. While cannabis is not widely considered addictive, I find it hard to label my relationship as anything else. Mother Horse Eyes was a story I re-listened to many times and even read on my own. Its now one of my favorite horror stories in all of fiction and it helped me identify my dependency and how deep I was. Ten days ago I decided to change and I've been struggling with sobriety since. I know I'm only just starting. I listened to the first half of this story earlier this week and today of all days I finished it. This morning I woke up from nightmares, craving release, I wanted to smoke so bad (a feeling until now fortunately absent over the last 10 days) and it scared me. I thought I was getting away. But the bear took one step closer this week and I noticed. In my most insecure moment, this story laid out a beautiful analogy. A reminder that the bear will move one step closer, but as long as I take that simple step, I can stay ahead of it. In my mundane repetitive life my struggles give me purpose. "One must imagine Sisyphus happy" Albert Camus Also who are the seven sisters I missed this lore
🫶
WE USED TO LIVE HERE GOES SO FUCKING HARD IM SO IN
I haven't finished it yet but I believe the sister must have gotten burned and she's the one that keeps sneaking into his house.
Every time papa meat does the Howie voice, I picture tuttle from american dad. Man acts basically the same lmfao
I had to go back and relisten to the conversation with Paul in the maze, they totally skipped the part where Paul said to take the coat rack out past city limits and burn it and that’s why I was so damn confused.
spoiled dead space for me 😞
Please read the cell phone game
5:26:26 the subtiles read “ OK now I immediately don’t trust a bitch”
I love the car-talk music interlude lmfao
i listened to this while high, and once THE part happened, i had a spiritual experience. 100/10
The 7th step of recovery is all about letting go of control....of ego. Hope that clicked for anyone else out there.
7 steps, 7 steps of grief.
7 SISTERS MENTION
Dude. This story was great. I got both his books on audable. I listened to first one already. We Used to Live Here. Fantastic. And Im creeping into the second one, The Caretaker. Great author.
A few hours in, not finished but I hope this comment doesn't age like milk. One of the best long form stories with interesting characters in a while. I love the goofy shitty ones too but episodes like these remind me how good it is when the hosts lock in with some genuinely interesting shit
I read his book first and I actually enjoyed the No Sleep way more!
7 steps could also be 7 stages of grief The last one is acceptance.
We need more long storiesss
Just finished this, all I have to say is wow. Incredible story! I was captivated the whole time!
Hi
Hey so one extra video a month is still kinda bullshit btw
It's so peak
Enjoying my homer slippers
Scariest piece of clothing to be on the coat rack would have to be like a butchers apron
Isaiah I love you dearly but my god have you got to start adding spoiler alerts. You spoiled dead space AND obsession. Now I’ve played dead space, but many haven’t. I’ve not seen obsession. We need some “skip to this time stamp spoiler alert”😭
Going back to happy appy after this for a palate eviscerator
I’m surprised at Isaiah’s not understanding the Lord of the Rings reference.
This episode had me SAT
i love how mr whitemouth has become such a fun skit all around
6 hours of Hunter correctly guessing every bear trap
Definitely one of the best stories IMO. I really enjoyed not knowing what's next, because often things can be predictable
7 steps sisters
A book recommendation for a future episode would be Wormwood
Belisarius approves of this story
You know we are suckers for the long episodes ❤️🖤
Goon started frying some chicken towards the end
Can you put mother horse eyes on the patreon please
Wendigoon needs to do a video on this story
Their memory of what happened during the story is worse than mine and I watched this over 2 days
also the note about the bear as a metaphor for mental illness reminds me of the beginning of the song "running" by elohim. she says "imagine you're running through the jungle and a lion is chasing you, you're running your ass off and you can't get away. the lion is anxiety, you're going to learn how to go through the jungle, see the lion and tell the lion to sit down."
7 steps could mean the 7 steps to renew your mind, or eludes to the 7 steps of buddhism. im leaning more towards the mind renewal because its more of a direct correlation. this story was so awesome, very well written
1)Identify negative thought patterns: Pay attention to your emotions and words to recognize the lies or self-defeating narratives holding you back. 2)Take thoughts captive: Instead of letting every thought run wild, evaluate them against your goals and values to intercept self-defeating loops. 3)Feed your mind with positive truth: Intentionally focus on constructive, encouraging input rather than dwelling on limitations. 4)Confess what you believe over your feelings: Speak your goals and truths aloud, even when your emotions are telling you otherwise. 5)Write it down: Keep a journal to identify your triggers, track your progress, and write down countering statements. 6)meditate: Take time for quiet reflection or prayer to ask for clarity and to set a positive, grounded intention for the day. 7)Be patient and celebrate progress: Mind renewal is a daily practice, not an overnight event. Celebrate your small victories to build long-term habits.
Moments after the protagonist says hes just like a silent hill character wendigoon gets annoyed that the protagonist makes a LOTR reference
bro this story is so unsettling
hi im ebry
5:12:50 it seems like ice burg boy finally creeped his cast. They grow up so fast
My theory is that the creature is real. It’s literally if theorybait was a horror monster/entity. The way it works is it spurs on curiosity in your mind. It gets people to unintentionally leave little jibs of information like the repetition of the number 7, the odd focus on colours…the Morse code. The more people try to formulate this creature the further it gets its foot in the door. Everyone who is made aware is immediately part of this mind virus because the creature will play everyone to be as vague and odd as possible so people even us as readers/viewers are spurred on to search for the meaning/reason of this creature. To understand and theorise and to therefore make it far more powerful. Howie is actually both the anathema of this being but also works exactly in its favour unintentionally. He doesn’t theory craft, he doesn’t acknowledge it almost at all. And it’s almost sort of left him. But his connection to the creature at all and his weird mannerisms and the mystery around him make him perfect for spurring on the creature’s ends. By writing the story Brandon has become the prime vessel for this creature much like Paul. Like father like son.
Lee Cronin’s The Spooky Coat Hanger
The 2nd word Howie asked for was Petroleum. Making the two words that Howie asked about Filament and Petroleum. Light and Gas. Gaslight.
Alot of the scenes with the intruder reminds me so much of stolen tongues, along with all the misinfo and contradictory stories from the characters reminds me of how fayes parents would tell differing stories
But some of his shit is good so idk why.
This is worth more than $5 a month. Thank you gentlemen
why is my frog shirt printed upside down
1:26:50. Something is going on with how they wipe their foreheads “with the back of their thumbs.” Unusual, why mention that specifically unless it’s some cult $h!t
1:23:30. So the creature doesn’t kill you? I feel like some rape type stuff is about to happen…..
THE 7 STAGES OF GRIEF THATS WHAT THE 7 STEPS AND SUCH MEAAAAN OMGG I NEED an interview with this author if you guys can make that possible🙏😭
This rules
I love stories with main theme learning to live with your truma, shout out possum, great horror movie 🙌🏽😤
2:09:00 i thought he was talking about Kayla for like a minute bro 😭
This is an all time great
Man in the basement? No thanks. I’d rather have the tiny bald man in the canoe.
We Used To Live Here isn't actually an adaptation of The Man in My Basement Takes One Step Closer Every Week, I believe it takes place in the same universe and has similar themes but it has a completely different plot and set of characters. I highly recommend checking out the book!
Didn't open/look at the video until like 3 hours in and Isiah's cutouts jump scared me
The pee break is diabolical
The Creep Crashout meta is fine and all but the Creep Glaze strat is slept on.
I interpreted this story as a metaphor for OCD The Bear at the end felt like the narrator using “radical acceptance” something you are taught in treatment. Similar to the “bee on your shoulder” thought, you acknowledge its existence and move on. Reacting or obsessing will only provoke the bee and cause further harm, representing the OCD spiral. Also the “rules” he was supposed to follow from the beginning very much parallel OCD rules or rituals that you think will keep you safe but just further that awful spiral and loop you can fall down Him also not being able to trust anyone even his own memory is how it feels to be stuck in a bad episode. You feel delusional and detached from reality. It had such an emphasis towards the end on him not getting “sucked back in” by little memories or thoughts he would second guess by choosing to stay grounded It could probably be a metaphor for a few mental illness struggles or addiction but this is how it resonated with me! It’s one of the top stories in my opinion, I plan on re-reading it myself and finding more connections!
Sorry for the bad grammar, had too many thoughts quickly lol
There’s a movie called Population 436 (starring Fred Durst) about almost exactly what Hunter was talking about with the town sacrifices. I spoiled it waaay too much so editing to hopefully fix. Lol
who else being gay af rn
It’s funny this just came out on Sunday I had just gotten back home from a grippy sock vacation.
Can we get a creepcast vinyl with the creepcast theme on one side and fairy queen by Hunter on the other side???? PLEASE
I’d love to see you guys cover dogs can lick too and other 2 sentence horror stories
Bro didn’t even wash his hands @5:40:16
A WEEK, 7 STEPS IS A WEEK AAAAAAH (in response to conversation at the end)
The intruder was always facing away like the wendigo did in Stolen Tongues
The ending felt like No Country for Old Men
This story really reminds me of Smile! The monster imagery in my mind keeps seeing the monster from that movie, especially with the whole pinkish skin and hands with too many joints thing. Super creepy and super cool 🤩
Oh nooooo the hot tall goth mommy is coming for me nooooo
This is really good! I want more from the author!
Bookmark 39:00
Me and my partner watched this in two days. Could not get enough !
The fart effect after Isaiah sneezes was needed😭
Im loving these stories that are analogous to mental health struggles. So much can be said about this story, but i really love it! Also interesting how the story perfected the feeling of intense paranoia and uncertainty in your sense of reality. Also the characters kind of represent different coping mechanisms of their situations
P I’ll
Would love for them to read "Tales from Uncle Henry's Farm" by TW Grim
By far one of the best! So good! And I loved how long it was!! Do another long one!!!! More. More. More.
Also came here to get pig roasted
Came here js to see the coat hanger joke 😅
Hiii pookies!
Just finished the episode and gotta say this is a top 5 for me
I didn’t get the seven sisters joke :(
Dude Isaiah needs to let hunter talk sometimes without him cutting him off. It’s annoying how he’ll just refuse to stop talking once he cuts off hunter
I'm sure its been said 200 times already, but the book "We use to live here" is not an adaptation of this story.
This is why I always keep my spankin lotion on hand. Ready to creep tf out mah cast
We Used To Live Here is a completely different story with different characters and you should definitely read it if you liked this one
He tryna ignore it 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Seven sisters, how did you feel about the boys dress attire for you 😅
This one banged. Great job boys.
just wanna say props to isaiah for his narration, he’s really been knocking it out of the park lately. the boys combine so nicely in this episode to create a brilliant reading. thanks fellas 💚
The irony of y’all shitting on nosleep when y’all’s mods are almost as bad.
Oh hell yes a 6 hour episode, in this economy? Absolutely peak🤤😋
Haven't been hooked on a story like this since borrasca or right left game
Honestly thought this was a man in my basement is getting better at mimicking people sequel or something. The entire episode I was expecting a reference or the ball to drop and connect to the story. I’m glad it didn’t. Beautiful story.
I was kind of thinking something similar but more in line with "I'm blind, I'm not sure how many steps my staircase has"
please read more from this person, i this might be the best written story yet
@2:55:15 it sounds like Isaiah saying “i owe him one for fuck you instead of me” but it’s cause hunter talked over Isaiah again lol
It seems the use of addiction aids in the intruders means of getting them. On top of that, paul was right, if they’re together too long they urge eachother to talk about it and push themselves back into the “pit” which is WHY PAUL LEFT!!!!! HE KNEW MITCH WAS GOING TO NUTSO!!!! I think as well either the intruder takes you and uses you further or you, yknow die. Tulpas feed off of thought and obsession, as they move away from it, it loses power on them, the notes are used to keep them obsessed with it and believe its so much stronger than you think, hence why so many things dont make sense, strange “evidence” appearing from thin air, and loved ones “passing” when in relaity, its already started feeding on more people after paul left for a bit. It seems mitchs man in the basement, along with his family, was the intruder as paul
That story was amazing man. Special shoutout to the editors as well. I thought this story was well deserving of such a deliberate background music choice. It really added a lot to the overall experience and quality of the episode. Thank you creepcast and crew! :)
Motherhorseeyes is the sci-fi take of this idea of "evils against consciousness" trauma, addiction, other corrupters. This story is a psychological, even Lynchian (I imagined all the Howie scenes like it was from Twin Peaks) take
This one got me. Hunters voice acting gave me fucking chills multiple times. Brilliant reading, funny boys.
This better not be a fucking Jacob’s Ladder thing…
Best Creepcast Episode I have ever listened to.
3:59:08 in this feels in so many ways like a description of having OCD
"M-Mitch?" As it cuts to Wendi with 4 Kane heads behind him xD
It’s nice that Kane is hooking up Isaiah with stuff for his horror projects
I’m 2.3hours in and I instantly thought “I bet this is all just one giant psyop by Howie and his fellow 4chan friends to get free room rentals” .
1 hour an 30 minutes in what’s with howie, Mitch, and PT Carver all rubbing their heads with the back of their thumbs
Oh my god I’m creeping!
love the return of mr.widemouth in this one
Lmao wendi would buy a house with old man’s writing on walls in the basement. LORE
Just finished the episode, BECAUSE I MILK THEM!!!! But yea I think it's a metaphor for addiction 100% it's something you'll never be done with addiction due to it being a lifetime battle. However! In recovery we learn to accept this fact, because it helps us to combat or fight triggers that may cause us to relapse. But yea I think the man is addiction.
Hmmm yes I’m creeping it
What a wonderful story! I was thinking about Howie and his crossword puzzles, and I think that’s how the Intruder was learning new words. It was using Howie to learn how to interact better with people.
Why am I exactly like Mr widemouth? lol
Man that new background music is killer
Yes the heartbeats!
The thing in my basement is getting better at mimicking people - the good ending
Woke up and saw my creep at full cast
They must do a swamp horror ep, (and read my swamp horror on TalesFromTheCreeps its only a crisp hour or so read too)
Answer to the last crossword was petroleum. Also his dialogue said “nine words” instead of “nine letters” lol
As someone who works a full time boring desk job, thank you for the long videos. Def makes my mundane work day better.
Wow my hair now matches the bear trap shirt, like this bear trap: the narrator is actually dead
stavvy reference? in MY creepcast? more likely than you'd think. (get the boys on stavvy's world asap)
Pogging when I hear seroquel
As a Brandon myself these always clock me
5 hours in and Idk where the story’s going but if the fact that you’ve got a character whose always stuck finding the words in a crossword and “mimics” that sometimes also forget words when speaking isn’t somehow connected imma lose my shit, you can tell you’re hooked on a story when you start spiralling just like the main character lol
this is the second episode in a row where isaiah asks hunter if he has played dead space
this is an s tier episode
I genuinely don't remember a single beat of a story they've read ever hitting me as hard as the words 'they found him in a basement corner.' Genuinely chilled me to my bones. This story does such a brilliant job of imbuing the reader with the narrator's paranoia with all of these tiny repetitions in dialogue and the characters' actions, and setting up these icons in the narrative where a completely innocuous thing being mentioned can send you spiraling chapters later. Reminds me of Penpal in that way. It also feels very Twin Peaks (or just Lynch in general) with the absurd mystery thread that only spirals into itself instead of ever getting resolved, blurry lines between reality and dreams/delusions, nearly incomprehensible force-of-nature antagonist, etc. Best story since Mother Horse Eyes, deep in my personal top 10 probably. P.s. It's really funny how you can open up a story with one of these fuckass r/noslop titles and it could land anywhere between this and 'monster hunter huh'
“Each week one step.” EVERYTIME he started to panic when the intruder was close to him or was scaring him the intruder always moved 7 steps closer. 1 week 7 days, maybe it’s nothing just seems connected.
Just saw Mitch’s car parked outside again.
WHY DID WE, THE SEVEN SISTERS, CATCH A STRAY?!?
as someone with a history of severe mental health problems who has also been through a lot of therapy and healing for those problems... i found this story to be a near perfect metaphor for the way mental illness has been displayed in my life. its something that is always there, and i have to consciously and mindfully fight the influence of; if i follow the whims given to me by my mental illness, it brings me further and further down. but i dont have to follow those and let it take over my life. its always going to be a conscious effort to fight, and something that i have to remember not to let take over, but eventually it becomes easier and easier to resist, and life becomes better and better. i loved how this story showed so many facets of mental illness while also being such a fantastically written, engaging, mysterious, scary, thrilling, exciting, etc etc horror story. and i loved the sense of peace i felt at the end. sure, the intruder still lingers. but life in the present moment is okay. brandon is safe. and the scene with the bear felt like such a beautiful piece of closure. knowing that his friend was listening, who almost became a new and different version of the close friendship he had with zack, also always with him in a way, and the full circle of his earlier lesson on surviving bear attacks coming back around, idk, i cant even put it into words. the whole experience was engrossing and immersive and scary as a horror story, while also coming together in a beautiful and REAL way at the end. i just loved it. 10/10, and the episode was fantastic, the boys were hilarious as always, and i was happy to see them interested and engaged with a new long story. were so back. my casts are so creeped
honestly wendi explained my feelings better than i could lol
This story is amazing so far! The small intricate hints throughout a story that culminate at the end just always get me.
The coat rack in a 5X Taylor swift shirt and mickey ears would be enough to kill myself
Great episode, love the loooong ones! But, has Isaiah ever come off like more of a Zoomer than when they didn’t understand the “Fool of a Took!” quote? Papa Meat finally got his chance to shine with that one.
Over the last two years i've been dealing with chronic kidney disease. I was diagnosed in stage 3 and it's genetic. Even if I get a transplant i'll still have to deal with it for life. It was very hard to hear at first and I wanted to pretend it didn't exist. When I realized It was my "Intruder" and it wouldn't go away, I started dealing with it. I'm in a much better place now. It will always be there. But I've learned to "reckon with it and move on" and still live my life. This was a great read and story. It was especially interesting since my name is Brandon. Stay creeped y'all <3
Creepin my shi while melting metal together 🤪
So why did they bleep 7 sisters?
As someone approaching my 40s, yeah, if I’m in the middle of a crazy dangerous situation, I will make a lord of the rings reference. 100%
If your taking recommendations, I read truffle pig, good body horror.
OOHHHHHH a 6 HOUR CREEP SESH WITH THE BOYS 😫😩
Best episode since Mother Horse Eyes
I’m creeping my cast for 6 hours straight
If y’all enjoyed this you really should check out the authors books! We Use to Live Here is phenomenal in the same way as this story.
I agree! I loved We Use to Live Here! I swear I heard Isaiah say this story was an adaptation. But it’s not right?
SICK OCD STORY BRO!
20:41 they said the line, they said the line!
Eyyyyyyy I'm a metaphor fuh grief ovah here
This is my favorite comment
the ending of this story nearly brought me to tears man. what a masterpiece really. not only was it creepy and a mindfuck but such a great allegory for addiction, grief, mental illness, etc. i just lost my step father (coincidentally named paul) this february and the ending with the bear and the authors final thoughts just really hit home. what an amazing story, will definitely be picking up this guys physical copies.
Mr Widemouth always has me dying laughing
What in tarnation is a seven sister?
6 hours of creepcast? I'm gonna creep! I'm gonna creep!
Brb taking my "Creep Mandated Pee Break"
Whens the new Bonus Episdode its been a while
6 HOUR EPISODE LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
The 7 steps = The Seven Sisters!
I can’t believe the boys keep platforming Mr Widemouth and his beliefs, I feel like it may be representative of their views (I hope he returns next episode) :)
If you like the themes in this story, I highly recommend a game called “Who’s Lila”. One of the most terrifying and confusing horror games I have played
I was thinking that the whole time once the idea of Tulpas was brought up! absolutely loved that game
The cave encounter remind me so much of the empty man.
If you guys like the Im Thinking of Endings Things Movie you should read the book for the pod
So sick I love it when the story is awesome. The boys are feeling good and I'm feeling good
I forgot how much I missed long episodes THANK YOU LOVES
This story was beautifully written. I may have to revisit “we used to live here” now
i was thinking this while listening!!! i see so many people who didn’t like we used to live here in the horror lit community but i actually loved it
I wonder if Paul told him to go for the eyes of the bear so no one would have to see the bear's pov of mauling Brandon
this is correct in my mind
This has hands down been one of my favorite stories. I've never been so locked in from beginning to end! Thank you guys 😊
I'm glad this story ended strong, I was afraid it was gonna face-plant and ruin the whole story but it was beautifully done. I can see other interpretations, but as a crazy person myself I feel the parallels to mental illness a lot. It's not something I can fully get rid of or run from, it's not something I can understand, parts of it are real but it does warp my perception of reality. Sometimes I feel like I'm better, and then it comes back hard. It can even be enticing to give into it, there's kind of a sick comfort in sitting in it, like the nicotine affected Brandon, an old toxic friend. Even the switching perspectives ring true to me, obsessing over details and hypotheticals. I can get stuck in what-ifs forever if I let myself. I've been told by phychiatrists that I'm "mildly schizophrenic" so feeling like I'm not myself or that my perspective isn't my own is pretty common. You learn to live with it. It gets to you sometimes and maybe you metaphorically find yourself in the front yard one morning. But it's best not to try to rationalize it. It's irrational by nature. All I can do is deal with it and take everything one step at a time.
Dunno if others have noticed it, but the “random” words that Brandon hears while experiencing others lifes sre a collection of all the words people “forgot”. Examples “i’ll be LEAVING”, “3rd times the CHARM”, “filament and petroleum” both from the crossword. The ones i can’t place immediately are Aiden, Sal, Bastion, Coat-rack, and Renshaw.
Mia tulpa! Mia tulpa! Mia tulpa!
I feel like the “each week one step” both refers to recovery and dealing with the “bear”, but also he’s not just sleep walking - instead, Brandon became the intruder. Really great story and analysis though! This story is definitely an all around Creepcast highlight!
Give us Meat’s reaction to the r/tulpas subreddit. It’s hilariously delusional and cringe
Please read “Maggie’s grave” by David Sodergren 🙏
Well now the next episode is going to have to be a crash out from hell
Near the end of the episode and I'm at work and someone asks me a question and to think I rubbed my forehead with the knuckle of my thumb and yanked it away cus I scared myself 😭😭😭😭
Anyone get what Howie’s last crossword was? I think it was like 9 letters, third letter T, coloured water beneath rocks or something?
Petroleum
My god, what a great story
Absolute banger
Gotta be A24 right?
This story kinda reminded me of the show “the outsider”
Best episode in a long time
6 7 was said in the podcast and i will not say where
This story was an amazing listening experience and I would say I have not been this locked on since mother horse eyes
The editing with the knocks is really well done, but I find it quite difficult to hear what Hunter is saying as the intruder.
i’m almost halfway through the episode and just want to give some credit to the insane improvements that i’ve noticed in the production of the show. the sound design with the knocking effects and the little background noises as they happen in the story are mint. and (i’m assuming) Giorgi’s newest ambient track is fantastic. Hunter’s voice acting in this is really strong and this episode so far reminds me of when they read like Stolen Tongues and Left Right Game. absolute gem of an episode so far and it’s convinced me to pick up Kliewer’s books after this.
This is definitely in the running for favourite ep alongside Stolen Tongues
people who liked the aspects of this story might enjoy the 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle! time travel body jumping pov changing etc.
I’m
Please try to interview this author! The tension, the characters, the pacing.. so good!
Peak creep cast is back, loved this one so much
Can anyone tell me what the song is at 2:58:58
Yk the story is good when Hunter is quiet
ISAIAH CAN YOU HEAR ME
Beautiful. Symbolism, Layers, Character, Intrigue. What more could you want?
the creeps are kicking in guys im castin’ all over the place
It’s so floppy. It’s so floppy.
I love when hunter says he loves longer episodes me to bruh make em bruh im trying to creep my cast at work at home on the way home everywhere
I have the same name as the protagonist, Went to a psych ward, And played A LOT of Uno while in there, This story freaked me out so bad 😅
Y'all should really read this one, it's pretty neat. https://www.reddit.com/r/NosleepIndex/s/3ynpi8i8Mh
im currently reading "We Used to live here" ahhhhhh I'm so excited for this story!!!
I am creeped out
PEAK CAST
Me 3 hrs in: Everything is always connected
Etch this into the Creepcast Mount Rushmore. Incredible story.
Loving the Toyota love. My dream car is an 1986-1992 Toyota Supra (NOT the MK4, too expensive to be worth it and doesn't have that 80's Boxy style).
Creeping it on the clock baby let’s goooooo
this is just a better version of the thing in the basement is getting better at mimicking people
Debatable
Im drunk and Wendi not being able to hear Hunter at the start is making my stomach hurt LMAO
I need to re-listen but my theory is that they represent the 7 deadly sins and maybe that's why 7 keeps appearing ┐(‘~`;)┌
This is what “the thing in the basement is getting better at mimicking people” wished it was
Six hour episode AND it’s a good story?? 🥹
The piss break I’m dying
Hunter was in such a good mood this whole episode from beginning to end! Made me happy to see him seemingly genuinely enjoy himself this episode :)
And I thought Isaiah seemed a bit down but then they talked about how tired he was and it made complete sense, and at the end it was nice to see him wake up and go completely locked in on piecing everything together 😁
7 Stages of Greif!!! (6hr 5min)
1:42:13 I love the boys’ break down but it seems like they’ve missed some clues supporting partial possession. PT ‘s long dialogue about dealing with a bear seems to foreshadow how he dealt with the haunting. And our Narrator’s thoughts on dealing with a bear almost directly reflect how aggressive he dealt with the “intruder.” And the fact the PT’s advice also reflects the scene after beat by bear is perfect: talk to her, place your bag down, move in the same direction/they talk, gas can is presented, they both head home in the same direction. PT might be warning the narrator that he is the bear. If I’m wrong, I’m deleting this comment and refusing to share my thoughts until I can confirm them going forward, thank you patrons.
Man I love long episodes, thank you!! ❤️
Could the 7 steps be referencing the 7 stages of grief?
SO good ❤️
the 7 steps were meant to represent each of the 7 sisters stepping up to the plate to be the beacon of light for this community
7 levels of purgatory, Dante’s Inferno?
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED PYSCHOSIS TO BE. The way the author describes how someone experiences emotional and mental breakage with how they perceive their surroundings is so amazing. That familiar eeriness of something surreally breaking reality in your perspective hits like a truck with how he sets up the story. Shit needs to be studied. What an episode man that junt was awesome with some great bits. Much love. Forever flopping my pud.
it's so floppy.......
I am so lost
well if we are getting full books again, there is a book you guys should read called There Is No Antimemetics Division by qntm, it is inspired by the SCP Foundation
The first half was good the second half lost me
I don't think the guys caught it, but I automatically thought that it was odd that Paul did the same rub "his forehead with the back of his thumb" thing as Howie did. Just the mannerism and wording is so odd that it's memorable. I'm halfway through, but that's what made me instantly have trust issues with Paul.
would not expect this from the title lmao
holy FUCK this was a good story
Holy creeps! 1:33:00 and this story is the best in a while!❤️
Definitely one of my favorites
This story really hits deep for me. 2025 was the worst year of my life. I experienced one of the worst forms of betrayal after putting my heart and soul into repairing a deteriorating situation. The weeks and months after were nearly unbearable, but I kept waking up, I kept taking a step forward. Now I’m better, the wound is still there and it’ll probably never completely heal. But I’ve accepted it. I am better than my traumas. I will prevail in the end.
That was really great. Thank you again for the beautiful story
Me at work: "nice new creepcast to listen to ITS 6 HOURS?!...eh not bad compared to 11 hours. Also can't wait to see what wendigoon makes
Finally, a really fucking scary story, with crazy plot twists, interesting characters, and a very sympathetic narrator who took us along for a dangerous, yet deadly curious ride. The beautiful message was great too, and extremely grounding to someone like me who tends to pathologically hunt for satisfying answers amidst an absurd existence. Ending stuck the landing too. Reminds me of their early classics like Left Right Game, Borrasca, and Pen Pal. Also of Spire in the Woods and The Whistlers but those are pretty brutal stories that left me haunted at the end of them. Not the monster that was Mother Horse Eyes either and that one had kind of a weak ending anyhow.
Right there with you. Very grateful for this incredible story.
Blessed be this day of creep
I just listened to the man in my window. And I’m picturing this man as that man.
Wait... does Isaiah not know Lord of the Rings? This is blowing my mind
6hrs of straight creeping all gas no breaks with it
It's adorable that Wendigoon always draws parallels between the weekly stories and whatever media he's consuming around the time of recording lmao
Or this is just a metaphor about women choosing the bear 🙂↕️
3:12:08
This story reminded me why I listen to this show
💛
Is any one else having issues with (I know 'old school') iTunes podcast only playing like 30 minutes of the podcasts? I do take advantage of downloading from Patreon as a back-up.
What a lip smacking treat
This whole story feels very Smile coded, which is pretty crazy since this came out before the second movie.
7 days in a week
It has the 5x Cookie Monster T-shirt, jack skeleton pajama pants, ginormous DC sneakers, a monster energy SnapBack, and a Deadpool themed drawstring backpack.
as someone with OCD this feels exactly like my journey with getting past my fears, accepting that maybe they’re real and maybe they’re not and either way i just have to live anyway
my mental illness will always be there like a monster in the corner of every room i’m in but if i just coexist with it instead of incessantly trying to figure it out, it won’t get any “closer” and it won’t hurt me
Thanks again for reading this one 🙏
Doin god knows what to em 😏
Aw man I got creep all in my cast
Gosh this story RULES. I was at the edge of my seat after every part. One of the best episodes of CreepCast 🔥
💛
Isaiah's comment at the end makes me think Kayla is a Tulpa that started with his insistance that Jacoby his tall goth girlfriend was at the very least real to him. The fact Kayla often scares him also helps this theory.
if you guys liked this i highly suggest checking out this dude’s book We Used To Live Here. it’s great, not a super long read, & the ending made me absolutely miserable for a week
B0
These guys seriously cant tell that Howie has also been reached
This will cover nearly my entire work shift.
Currently listening to this at work as usual. Nothing will ever top listening to the left right game for the first time while driving on a lonely mountain pass
This is a top 5 story
Great story, great episode. Personal story recommendation, the text portions of the hypnagogic archives. Maybe not dedicated horror, but still some disturbing and cosmos themes throughout
This has odd similarities with quitting an addiction. The mania and paranoia when still using, and the calm when quitting. Even going to rehab in a hospital setting, kicking the habit. But you remain an addict, even in the long run. I am in recovery, so it stands out for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this long episode, it was full of unanswered questions that kept me wanting for more. Very nice!
This is the best episode in my books. I mean number one it included my spirit animal, Mr Widemouth. But the suspense, the character writing, the fact that the author trusts us and doesn’t over explain things. Paul is the most badass character. Helping Brandon back on his feet and telling him the what seems random bear analogy which saves his life. I also think that the end with Mitch shows that Paul was the “trustworthy” one and Mitch is manic and clearly part of the intruder. Even trying to blame the coatracks on Paul. I truly think that everyone is their own Intruder, I mean think about it. It’s like having a depression episode and a friend, who hasn’t lived your life, knows the way out. They help you even though they’ve never lived you. It’s like Paul was guiding Brandon and in this story the literal sense was seeing the bear maul him. So he showed him the way out ages in advance. One Step Every Week because you are the intruder. If you aren’t taking the step you are breaking the rule to get better, you spin out of control and the intruder is catching you. GOSH I LOVE THIS STORY and I’m sure it can be interpreted soooo many ways holy what a banger! PS that turtle guy that’s been making creepcast tier lists on yt is ABSOLUTELY creaming his jorts over this published story
7 days in a week 😂 then you take another step
There's no limit to the creep.
You guys gotta read "We Used to Live Here" by Marcus. Very inspired by House of Leaves, even shouts out some of the characters in a fun little way.
YEEEEESSSSS!!! THEY FINALLY READ IT. I’VE BEEN REQUESTING THIS FOR FOREVEEEEER
This might be my favorite one you've posted since Stolen Tongues. Great story
**SPOILERS** I think what the bois are thinking of at the end is the concept of the seven stages of Grief which I do think ties to MCs loss of Zack and father
Fuck yeah
This is definitely going on the Mount Rushmore of CreepCast episodes
I LOVE this episode!!!
maybe i missed it but the word howie was “looking” for was petroleum, which adds a lot of credence to what isaiah was saying.
SEVEN STAGES OF GRIEF
Wendigoovie rease date when
6 hours, please don't fucking happy appy me I can't do that again
7 stages of grief might be what the 7s are all about.
My brother said this is what he feels being a recovering alcoholic/drug user. It’s always there in his head, and he just has to live with that the rest of his life. His past is in the past, but he can’t undo what he’s already done, all he can do is keep moving forward.
6 hour video??? I’m going to creep so fucking hard
Dang 6 hours AND the story doesn't suck. Raise your glasses as we feast tonight
Top five creep cast for me, fr
As someone with OCD, this story feels like a take on living with it. The rules are very much like compulsions, and in therapy you learn to ignore those compulsions and simply live with the uncomfortable and scary obsessions. The OCD will likely never really go away, but it will get exponentially worse if you continue to engage in the compulsions
I haven’t finished the video yet, but if it’s a Tulpa and he became convinced that Zach was in the basement due to the voice mimicking - the scariest part about that is Zach would have really been down there
STAVVY MENTIONED!!!! I like to imagine the fellas listened to Cum Town back in the day lol 😂
Dr pepper
I’m curious what would’ve happened had he immediately donated the coat rack to Goodwill instead of breaking it. That’s almost certainly what I would have done.
3:39:07 made me spit out a piece of my pizza for some reason 😭
I think the movie “smile” borrowed a lot from this story. In monster design at least.
Isaiah, try to get Jake Gyllenhaal and Brad Pitt for the book, Pretty please🥹
Does anyone have a timestamp for the content that was cut on youtube?
About 4 1/2 hours in a this is already an top 10 story on the pod. Let’s see if they stick the landing!
Mr Blum house, Mr goon said some bad things about you. You should give the money to me. I’ll make the scariest skibidi toilet movie of all time!
This story is SUCH a good metaphor for parnoid mental health disorders and as someone who struggles with obsessive thoughts like these the author did such a good job describing the breakdown and the coping that has to take place in order to get better. I think the conversation with Paul in the psych ward really hit me the most. Like it is in your head, mostly. The actions you take based on the thoughts are very real and have such a hard impact in your life but if you let the thoughts consume you it will take over. Absolutely beautiful 10/10
Good thing to note, We Used To Live Here, is not based on this story. It's a story he made after this one, or at least posted after.
Have this on in my office at work uninterrupted for about 4 hours and someone comes in right when they're talking about indestructible pedos 😂
Papa’s voice acting is next level in this one!
The final part, and your guys’ analysis at the end, I wasn’t expecting to cry. This resonates so much with me as someone who is taking it one day at a time. Someone who is learning to be okay with waking up in the morning. Each week one step. What an absolutely phenomenal story.
I thought Isaiah once again peed on audio and I audibly yelled
My theory at 4:12:46 into the vid. I feel like the the morse will come out to something like "the first time you see me will be in long lost memories-" or something with a similar meaning. Im thinkin the intruder we're seeing now is Zach or Paul. Long lost memories will call back to how Brandon slowly lost the memories of Zach. If I get it right Ill reply.
Seems like I was dead wrong, except maybe not? Paul definitely was the biggest problem given the tunnels so he might just have been the one putting the coat rack in Brandon's house.
5:33:54 what did I do D:
Bless you Isaiah @26:17 since no body has said it 😂😂
Watching this episode from my basement, which I call the meaty goon cave.
6 hour video let's goooooooo
This author sure does love the word “flicked”
You guys should attempt to get the rights to read we used to live here on the pod. It’s a completely different story and very much worth reading
This story felt a lot like The Hidden Webpage. Which is good for me because it's one of my favorites. Though THW felt like it hit themes of obsession, trauma, and forgotten memories while this one felt like it focused on addiction and mental illness. Both very good but it's cool to see how they're so similar while covering different topics.
Oh god. I just started this story, and The Hidden Webpage is one of my least favorite stories they’ve read. Am I really diving into six hours of *that?*
the real horror of this episode is Isaiah not recognizing a LOTR reference
my boyfriend and i watch these together on youtube but when he doesnt watch them fast enough or pay attention i sneak watch them here
I miss the old background music, it really felt like Creep Cast to me then. New tracks are good, but it'd be nice to bring back that old piano riff on loop, somewhat calming in an eerie way, especially with these darker stories
This is the best episode of the year honestly. And it lasted me most of my shift. Only got 2 hours left now ❤️
A job that lets you listen to podcasts & audiobooks is the reason I’m a writer today
Fartin on the Etitys door
This was such an amazing episode. What a rad story
🫶
Wow, what a great ep. The story was good, the voices were good. The banter was good, bang up job bruv
This story was fantastic. Nothing was what I expected, the cliche and easy next moves were never what happened, each paragraph was genuinely interesting and different from what I thought was coming.
I'm creeped out
Theorizing; The intruder represents the expanded cycle of grief (which is 7 stages instead of 5). Each (named) man represents a different path in which they are shifting into and becoming each other by witnessing the little snippits of each others lifes and adjusting based on what they learn. Because grief is a non-linear cycle that keeps pulling you in, it's why Mitch goes from guilt (leaving the list of rules), to denial and ignoring it, accepting it by bringing Paul back into his life, until he's back to bargaining at the end, trying to find answers. One of the best allegorical horror stories I've heard on the channel so far. Just really great.
I've been yearning for a long good story like this for a while. Blessed.
My dumbass would've grabbed the coat rack and used it 😭😂
Aren't tulpas a big part of Greylock? Surprised they didn't mention that
best story
My guys, can we cool it a bit on the spoilers for movies that only just left theaters?
this one was INSANE
Imagine a coat rack with a dominatrix latex outfit
Instant rewatch
Literally just listened to stavvys world lol
What an amazing story, had to stop it when I was falling asleep because I was hooked and psyching myself out. Absolute banger
Howie sounds like he would yell at a guy playing the trumpet.
Are the Chaos Gods considered tulpas then?
This was awesome. Normally I do not like stories without closure and answers but this nails it and I kind of feel like answers would ruin it.
The thing in the basement if it was good
Howie sounds like Mr boss If he was from Boston
This was very well written but wasn’t the scariest thing they’ve read. Still A class story.
Cool use of second person perspective.
Wendigoon not getting the fool of a Took reference is a mortal sin. Repent heathen
@6:04:58 isnt the repeated 7 about the 7 stages of grief?
this is so interesting because i’ve read this novel and i can’t tell if i wasn’t in it or something because this feels so different to what the book is but it does have similar themes. i think i need to reread it.
1:11:35 as he was saying this I put a twizzler in my mouth and genuinely froze like a deer in headlights I’ve never been read so badly in my LIFE 😭😭😭😭 Editing this to add the mention of the Taylor swift tour tshirt was kicking me while I was already down 😔
What's the male equivalent of the seven sisters? How we doing boys
Who are the 7 sisters?
Rolling my lil pud around in my hand for 6 hours straight
@2:32:30 “I’m right behind me, isn’t me”
My cast is all raw from creeping it for six hours :/
This is easily a top ten, if not a top 5 episode in the books. Such an excellent read, thank you Creep Crew 🙌
It's always a great time when Mr Widemouth gets a segment.
I’m about to creep 🥴
LETS YES UHUH
This story might be an all-timer ngl
I just had a bear trying to get into my trash bin. Perfect story
6 hours let’s go!!!
Stavvy reference?? Collab when??
With the cheese
I hope Hassan can see this video of Isaiah taking care of his dogs so he knows you don’t HAVE to shock them
Holy 6 hours, the drought is cleansed 🙏
We're all in agreement that "twenty-one" is Kane Parsons right?
I love getting creeped for hours.
6 hours?!?! imma creep all over myself 🥰🥵👅
Big fan of how Mr widemouth keeps popping up in other stories, one of their best bits lmao
Never thought id hear Stav brought up in a creepcast ep
Wendi and Kayla walking away from a burning ghost house would make a killer shirt drop ngl
6 hours of LSD grandpa paradox
Brother, give this like 12 episodes on Netflix, make Gary Sinise P.T. and Mark Duplass Howie and whoever the fuck else and I'm in heaven
Nahhhh i knew it the second he bought the smokes at the gas station
Sister #6 locked in.
1:35:00
.. ... M . . I7kuu
Hunter moaning in the first few seconds makes me know it's gonna be a good one
Almost a whole shifts worth of creeping it 🤤
It’s gotta be A24 right?
That's my guess. Didnt Isiah interview Kane Pixels recently? I wouldn't be surprised if he got an A24 contact by networking with Kane.
2:52 now all of China knows you’re here.
BIG fan of the Ford Truck Month™️ break. Would love it to become a regular segment. They really were built different back then. Just one small suggestion: ‘break’ should be changed to ‘brake.’ Call it Brake Check! You can have that one for free. … Also this one was a great story and episode.
Howie, Paul and Mitch reminded me alot of the baker family all seemingly being controlled but still all containing alot of there humanity
The coat rack is wearing the big novelty neon green sunglasses
