The Roper & Riding Horse! Plus a bonus mini :P
Hello friends! Today I have for you the Roper from the new Monster Manual! This was an excellent modeling, sculpting and rigging project. I started by making a hidden Roper, which is basically a large stalagmite with a rather peaceful looking hidden face. I first thought about making a mean looking sneer but then I thought "If I was about to get some snacks I think i'd be blissful too" haha.
Then for the actual Roper I made two versions. One version is that you see in the render that while in theory can be printed in FDM, it is definitely more resin friendly. I made a FDM friendly body though, with holes to insert the six tentacles. The tentacles in question are just straight shapes because you first warp them with a heat gun or hot hair dryer, then insert them into the body.
Also today I quickly updated the Riding Horse from 2014 with the slot for the rider that you can insert.
Also a patron below commented that they swore they read this as a Roper Riding a Horse. Well now that's a mini too because why not? Not FDM friendly sadly but still a silly thing to make regardless.
That's all for now! More to come tomorrow as I work on Patreon requests! Enjoy!

Oh man it would be great if one of the ropers tentacles was a lasso
Missed opportunity to have the roper riding the horse to have a tentacle whipping the horses but to ”motivate” it
Lol ah well
Incredible, the hat is a perfect add!
damn right
I first read that as a roper riding a horse.
Done. You now have a Roper Riding a Horse mini. I hope you like the cowboy hat :P
Nice idea with the tentacles and the hair dryer! I recently saw a palm tree model on Printables that did this with the leaves - print them flat on the bed, then heat and bend them to shape. Clever.
Heh nice. Yeah I used to do this all the time with my older tentacle monsters. If it works it works :)
