The Apparatus of Kwalish! Also new Patreon Requests!
Hello friends! For no reason whatsoever related to my game tonight, at all, I printed an Apparatus of Kwalish! This was an older model from way back that I did some small updates to and printed today. I'm really happy with how it came out and I'm sure my players will love it ... er... if I actually used it tonight for some reason, which I'm not.
As for the updates, I increased its size a little, added more metalwork details, and made two versions with one not having a stand for easier printing for some. I also printed a prototype in FDM out of curiosity. It came out ok but the little spotlights on top broke off during support removal, so I sized it up a little for the final resin version, which was pretty easy to manage support removal wise. Full files are here and in Misc Patron Requests - A. Files are also in the Waterdeep Dragon Heist folder.. for some reason :P
Requests:
Athach - this is a bizarre aberration from 3rd Edition that has the body of a large ogre but with a third arm coming out of its chest. It was a pretty fun mix of sculpting work. That third arm though... I guess folding laundry would be a little less time consuming lol. For FDM printing this fella is very big but all his fingers are pointing downward so you'll get your best result printing it upside down. Resin users get the usual presupported and hollowed file. The model is separate from the huge creature size marker so it'll be easier to print. Full files are in Misc Patron Requests - A .
Triton Male Pirate Fighter w Squid Buddy - this was a wild request for a Triton with his two pistols aiming at his foe while his Squid buddy holds four more pistols. Just two watery bros doing what's right haha. This is a very very complex model that sadly I would not recommend in FDM. But if you insist the pistols are all pointed upward so that should be easy to manage support removal wise if you lay him on his back. Full files are here and in Adventurers - Fighters - Other Fighters.

That's all for now! More to come soon!

Athach in D&D goes back to BECMI. I had all of the 2e and three of the 1e monster manuals and the Athach I only recall seeing in the BECMI monsters. It was one of the first monsters in 3E and I was very impressed by that fact!
:)
Is the Athach suppose to be printed that big?
Oh man that brings me back.
Yeeeeeees that triton looks awesome! I need to bug my buddy to actually start his pirate campaign now so i can use it!
Nice :)
Love the apparatus,it's the model that led me to finding you in the first place. I will definitely be printing it for an upcoming campaign. My plan is that they find it with just the stovepipe vent above ground and goblins have been using it as a latrine not knowing what was buried underneath. Hope the players figure out what it is.
Oh cool!
Nice, it's good to see the athach! Remember they are from Scottish folklore and lived near lochs, so they all have have have accents
Heh nice
Oh I gotta see how the Apparatus prints in fdm
Be careful removing supports under the little eye stalks. Other than that it wasn't too hard but be gentle just in case
