Japanese Minis: The Kappa!
Hello friends! Jen and I are now in Nagoya after a lovely few days in Kyoto. Its a busier town than Kyoto but still a pretty cool place to visit. I had a little time to do some more modeling last night and was able to finish the Kappa!
The Kappa, also known as a river boy, is a troublesome being if your not careful. It likes sumo wrestling, and can be reasoned with so long as you're respectful. Don't get in the water with it though.. for ... reasons :/ And if you DO have to fight it try to spill the water in his head cap. That'll weaken him.
I made him in a rather friendly pose, but he's rigged if you wanna make something more aggressive. Full files are in Misc Patron Requests - K. For FDM printing I recommend printing it on its back with the spear pointed upward. For resin printing the usual presupported file is up :)
Next up I'm going to work on a Tanuki! I love seeing these cute little guys all over Japan haha. Stay tuned!

I love these guys. And this is a great time because I have an encounter coming up that uses them. I plan on posing and painting them to emulate the TMNT. :)
a Kapable warior if there ever was one. Doesn't look much like a soul sucking water goblin but I guess you chose to lean more in the asian turtle-folk direction
Yeah I just think they're cute 🥰
Yay for tanukis!
If you go to Hiroshima, definitely go out to Miyajima Island. You can take a cable car most of the way up the mountain there, but still have a very brisk hike up to an observatory on the summit. And halfway, there's a beautiful shrine.
Thanks! We sadly won't be going there on this trip. I'll keep that in mind in the future though :)
That's cool. I would love to see more like that.
