It's been almost a year since I shared the very first rough prototype of TruckSim GPS. After months of development, dozens of updates, countless late nights, and an insane amount of feedback from all of you, v1.0.0 is officially out and available for everyone to download.

For those of you who've been here since the beginning, you already know how much work has gone into this. For those just finding out about TruckSim GPS for the first time: welcome! We're just getting started.

If you're an existing Patreon supporter: nothing changes for you. Your subscription keeps working exactly as it has been. You don't need to do anything. Keep reading for what's new and what's coming next.

Free vs. Pro: how it works

TruckSim GPS is now free to download and use! The free version includes compatibility with all DLCs and all supported map mods with no restrictions on map content. There are a few limitations though:

Free version includes:

• A daily routing quota: you get a limited amount of route guidance per day. When the quota is reached, detailed routing won't be available until it resets the next day

• A small persistent banner ad at the bottom of the screen, plus a full-screen ad after completing a delivery

• Single destination only: you can navigate to one destination at a time but can't add extra waypoints on top of active jobs

Pro removes all of that: no ads, multiple waypoints, and unlimited routing. It's the same full experience that early access testers have been using all along. As we roll out new features this year, some of them will also be Pro-exclusive, so the subscription will only become more valuable over time.

What's coming this year

This public release is the beginning of a new chapter, not the end. We will keep pushing updates regularly, just like we've been doing throughout the entire early access process. There is a LOT more coming.

Here's a taste of what's on the roadmap:

Routing improvements — I know the routing algorithm isn't perfect yet. This is a top priority. We have major improvements planned that will make a real difference in route quality, for both free and pro users.

More map mods — We're going to keep adding support for new map mods and automating the pipeline so we can eventually support as many mods as people are using, and even try to auto-detect them.

Full search — Coming soon! Search by name, bookmarks, and a better UI for managing and reordering your waypoints.

Voice navigation — Turn-by-turn voice guidance.

Multiplayer features — We're going to start experimenting with sharing positions between users.

Custom color schemes — More ways to customize the map and instrument cluster to your liking.

Map improvements — Proper backgrounds, state and country borders, and more info on the UI like current city, state, and country.

Better POI details — Improved UI for ferry connections, weigh stations, the clock, and possibly speed cameras.

Localization — Proper translations to different languages.

And more! This list is not exhaustive and the roadmap is always open and subject to change. A lot of what we've built so far came directly from user feedback, and we want to keep it that way. If you have feature ideas or map mod requests, drop them in the #feature-suggestions and #map-mod-requests channels on Discord.

We're also working on setting up a dedicated feedback platform so everything is a bit more organized, more on that soon.

The journey so far

I shared the first rough prototype on r/trucksim in May last year, and the response completely caught me off guard. That initial feedback from the community is what pushed me to start this Patreon and keep building. The first 0.1 version was ready by the end of that same month.

By early July we had 0.3 out with ATS support and opened the Discord server, which quickly became the heart of the community. From there, we kept shipping roughly one major feature release per month, all the way to today.

Looking back at where the app started and where it is now, it honestly feels surreal that we got here.
