Branded To Fall Dev Update 07/06/26

Hey hey!

It's that wonderful time of week where you get to read my inner ramblings on! Progress on 0.7 is coming along well, I've been trying to chip away fairly evenly at content but this week I've been mostly smashing my head against Charlotte's stuff. A lot of the reason for that is my artist finished a new animated scene for her, and getting the art through really motivates me for wanting to work on that characters content! But the Charlotte fans have been especially hungry in the discord lately so I'm sure this news will make a lot of people happy. It's been very fun and interesting to work on Charlotte's content given its now at a point where Cam has admitted to enjoying stuff with her, as it's opened the door for Charlotte to be more daring in her actions with him and really try to push some other buttons she couldn't before.

One of the other things that's been coming up a lot is variations and extra's in the dialogue. So on top of the usual corruption level alterations I've also been taking into account how far along some other routes are, like Elora and Jen to have characters make certain comments about what's been going on, or have characters be a bit more flustered if worried someone might be onto them. An example of this is El walking in Charlotte being flirty with Cam and Charlotte pointing out that it's okay for El to make puppy eyes at Jen but she can't do the same here and stuff like that. Nothing that shows they KNOW entirely what's happening but just that people notice things and that characters thoughts may change depending on this too. Now I can't do this for EVERY combo of routes, but I certainly want some more intersection in at least the thoughts of some characters depending on progression of some other routes so they don't just end up feeling entirely separate.

Now lets get onto what you've probably been waiting to read about since seeing the banner, the new sprites/characters! So these are the two new sprites I teased a few weeks back that I'm hoping to add in for this update as well. But who the hell are they? Well, one is Darius, the item shop owner, (that's right, the item shop will finally be open and out of construction!) a man with a very interesting if not sordid past who might offer a bit more for sale then just groceries if you know how to ask. While the other is duke's younger son, Morgan (yes you read that right, this is the femboy that I asked if people would be interested in in the past.). A much more shy and kinder person then his older brother (not that that's hard). I would have rather had the character reveal be a bit more of a surprise, but I'm also aware being caught off guard by that particular content would be unfun for some players, so I figured it was the better option to let people know ahead of time. Both of these characters will have content with both Cam and Elora. They're not planned to be full routes, but they're also not planned to be just one off scenes like the drider quest, so you can think of them as somewhere in between.

My current plans for each are for Darius to offer Elora some new alternative ways to make money, both in upstanding law abiding ways, and maybe in some others too. While Elora will meet Morgan while continuing her maid job, which quickly becoming more interesting given Elora will now have the potential of three separate family members in that house that she may end up involved with. As for Cam, he and Darius will have a much more heated early encounter, which will contrast his and Morgan's fairly mundane meeting if not laced with many misunderstandings. I doubt I'll have any particularly juicy content for either of these this update, but as I say I do want to at least get them in the game for it. Hopefully alongside the item shop being functional and a continuation of the maid job so there's some more money options.

Anyway, I've blabbed on enough and should get back to writing about Charlotte's homewrecking and Jen's continued expedited descent into corruption instead of throwing more word soup at everyone! As always, thank you for the love and support, and have an amazing week!
