Days Underwater in the Galapagos of Japan! (Ft. Manta, Wahoo & Whales!)

Oceanic manta rays, whales, turtles, wahoo... We’ve just wrapped an unforgettable week on Chichi-Jima - freediving and living almost entirely underwater in what’s known as the Galapagos of Japan. And it more than lived up to the name.

This place gave us so much, and we’ve poured all of it into this episode. We hope it fills you with the same awe we felt out there.

As always, thank you for being the reason we get to do this. Patreon supporters like you make voyages like this possible. We’re so grateful to have you on this journey with us.

We hope you enjoy this early, extended (and ad-free) preview of this week’s episode!

Much love,
Riley, Elayna, Lenny & Darwin

Each section of this episode was so fascinating I had to keep replaying to take it all in! Loving the candid style and the insight into life on board. We could tell how hard it was for you to move on from Chichijima Island and surrounding area. How cold was the water there?

How wonderful to be back with all of you on this leg of your adventure. I feel so comfortable with each of you and I am so oriented to the boat that I just slip in alongside you and feel and see all your adventures as you share them. Thank you for the continued joy you bring this 83 year old woman!

I do enjoy the longer format, and what an incredible island. I'd have to explore all those caves, bunkers, and tunnels.

I am making paper luminary's as I watch this and getting so inspired! Loving the critter action and reactions, homeschool at its finest. Ocean systems, wind patterns and what a couple of incredible kids as those two evolve into their own, as they are filled with the wonders that the ocean can gift them and you can guide them. Huzzah for parenting at its most awesome!

Hi gang!!!! The other comments are fantastic. I know I'll watch this one again. It is wonderful to watch the aquatic life... the thrill of the whales... the history. The fact that all that war history and she sites is largely what gives me hope for today. As a people, we lived through it before. We will continue to do so. Thank you for showing those remnants. Once again, I am amazed at the things your kids know. From here, they seem to just live for and feed off their learning. To be so small and know things about tunnels and cenotes... wow!. Really!!! More than anything, I just want to say, "Thank You for all you share with us all over the world. Spencer aboard Vin Vitae

OMG this is my favourite video ever!!! And my god you’ve had some spectacular ones!!! The photography is just astounding - the scenery from the lookout, the whales, the underwater footage, the drone footage … and Rileys comments on AI - I’m very wary of it but in my humble opinion Riley is our Aussie Joe Rogan so I’ll just go with the flow! I’m so envious of this trip can’t wait to see more ♥️♥️♥️
