LTX 2.3 in ComfyUI First Look!

YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/koHbTAXVM8c

Hey everyone!

LTX 2.3 by Lightricks dropped yesterday, and I spent some time putting usable workflows together and doing some basic tests. Here are some of the generations I was able to get out of LTX 2.3 entirely locally!

A couple notes on these generations

  • This is literally Day 1, there's a lot we don't know, and there may be better, quicker ways of generating in a couple of days. GGUF's are an option and were just released this morning - I have not tested them yet.

  • All generations are I2V 5s (121 frames) at 24 FPS - roughly 45 min - 1 hour per video on average locally putting minimum hardware requirements for efficient LTX 2.3 generations around 24GB VRAM + 128GB system ram. Even then, expect long generation times. Note that this is without a Comfy restart, with 100+ chrome tabs, and a 6+ day PC up time. With a fresh boot, actual generation time for one of these clips came out to <25 min. Actual generation time will vary on your hardware.

  • All of the below were created using the full 48GB model on my PC with specs listed below.

  • FP8 model, interestingly, seems to take longer than the full model, but produces marginally better results.

  • My best recommendation, even if you can run this locally, do it in Runpod to get the most out of LTX 2.3, especially if you have a lot to do. If you don't mind the wait and have the hardware, it's good to know local is an option!

PC Specs:

CPU: intel i9 14th gen 14900k

GPU: NVIDIA 3060TI (8GB VRAM)

System Ram: 128GB

Avg. Gen Time Per 5s Clip: 45min-1hr

Generation Examples

Prompt:

lockdown footage of a man eating spaghetti at a beach resort bar, the man holds up the fork with spaghetti up to the camera and emphatically declares "LTX 2 point 3 has THE SAUCE" before taking a bite of the spaghetti off of the spoon, he enjoys and savors the bite of his food

Prompt:

intense cinematic footage of two boxers battling inside of the boxing ring, cinematic film footage

[0:00-0:02]: The black man throws two quick punches with intensity and speed, the receiver stumbles back slightly but regains his posture and defense, the black man pursues his opponent aiming to capture the moment and seize the win

[0:02-0:05]: In one swiping motion, the black man throws a heavy punch on his opponents jaw, knocking him out. The opponent falls to the ground as the black man raises his arms in triumph looking down at his opponent as he falls.

Prompt:

handheld selfie influencer style footage, a woman is recording herself talking about a cute bag that she got from the store, influencer style and voice, UGC, she says "guy, check out this super cute bag that I got from Amazon the other day [holds bag up to camera] I just LOVE it - you can get it too at the link in my bio!"

Prompt:

lockdown interview footage of a young woman wearing banana themed hat and sunglasses

[0:00-0:02]: The woman drops her peace sign and smiles at the camera, tilting her head softly. She says "What am I supposed to do again?" with a chuckle

[0:02-0:05]: The woman takes off her hat and fluffs her hair laughing nervously while looking past the camera

Overall, outside of the long wait times, I'm really excited about LTX 2.3! I hesitate to make any comparisons against its predecessor, LTX 2, as I didn't really spend enough time generating with LTX 2. Overall though, LTX 2.3 seems to align with the word of Lightricks:

  • Runs (variably) on most consumer hardware.

  • Has relatively strong prompt adherence

  • Immaculate output quality, even at 720P.

  • Very strong real-world understanding and "object permanence".

The unfortunate part is the sheer weight of this model - it's interesting. Size wise, LTX is massive and will require at least 50GB minimum of storage just to store the models, but generation wise, it truly is quite light weight for it's performance and better than many open-source options on the market, maybe even some closed source as well.
