The Truth About May’s First Love 🌌 | Pluto | EP 8 | Full Uncut Reaction
The truth is getting closer—and this time, May might actually want Ai-oon to find it.
While May continues hiding the fact that her eyesight is gradually improving, she begins quietly setting things in motion for Ai-oon to uncover another secret: the identity of May's first love.
An old school album leads Ai-oon back into their shared past and eventually to the memory of what happened at the planetarium. For years, May believed Oom was the girl who saved her from a group of bullies that day.
But she wasn't.
Because Ai-oon and Oom had switched uniforms—and Ai-oon was the one who protected May.
Without either of them realizing it at the time, their story had already begun long before the relationship they have now. Ai-oon wasn't simply pretending to be the person May once loved.
She was May's first love all along. 🥹🌑
And with May quietly guiding Ai-oon toward that realization while still keeping secrets of her own, the line between their past and present is finally beginning to disappear.

The epsiode starts with „threatening“ photos of May and Ob-oon that someone sent to Ob-oon’s company including the president. Someone is sending them a warning – May thinks it’s her father, telling May indirectly he’s still watching her. This leads to the first flashback detailing a little further how May came to the Batman case (though in essence this was already spelled out in episode 4): May’s father wanted Batman - who’s the son of a friend – to go free a blackmailed May into the case, promising her to leave Ob-oom in peace only if May take the case. Later, Ob-oom scolds May for taking this case, saying Ben is disabled for life and her mother took her own life to cover the medical expenses with her life insurance (so, that’s the death May was talking about in the last episode). May argues that she took the case to protect her (from her father) like she did all those years ago at the planetarium – but Ob-oom knows that Ai-oon was posing as her on that day. She says “So this is the Oom you like? I understand everything now.” and leaves. Then, we flash back to the attack by Kosol. This is just a slightly extended version of the two flashbacks from episode 4 which finally show that Kosol hit May in the back of her head causing the brain injury which turned her blind. Kosol is visibly disturbed by this outcome but flees anyway. In the hospital, she is visited by a cold and distant Ob-oom, who tells her that she is not the one she loves – it’s Ai-oon, her twin sister. (Why is he going after May, when it’s actually Batman who did hurt Ben? Was he unreachable?) In Korat, May is painting with colors specially prepared for blind people as Ai-oon arrives who has just woken up after last night’s drinking binge. May says she’s painting a feeling which she can’t describe (the paining sure looks like it 😊) and holds Ai-oon’s hand to her heart, which cause Ai-oon to think about the makeout scene the day before. Then, she proposes to go back to Bangkok. Later, May tasks Ton with finding out what caused Ai-oon to change last night. Ton asks Ploy what happened with Ai-oon (so, she knows her identity as well!). Ploy told her she was May’s first love – but Ai-oon was pretending to be Ob-oom, so that must have thought she was talking about her twin sister and not herself. Ton relay the information to May, was sitting alone in the car. Upon Ai-oon’s return, they go and watch the sunset. May is wondering how she can reveal that Ai-oon is her first love without revealing that she knows Ai-oon is posing as Ob-oom. She tries to relate the story of how she met her first love: she was going to school in Korat when she got the chance to join a science competition at the Bangkok planetarium. There she got abandoned by her classmates and contacted Ton to get her when someone snatched her phone and her backpack. Some student were about to hit er, as someone intervened. But Ai-oon doesn’t want to hear the story any further, she requests that they continue their return to Bangkok. May laments like the day is turning into night, her life is only darkness. (I think that sentence was not a play, but a genuine comment on her own frustration. Caused by herself being deceitful, of course.) Ai-oon arrives back at her place, where grandma is waiting for her. She want to know why she was pretending to be Ob-oom with May (so, she knows about May as well!) May says she could never replace Ob-oom, then she breaks down crying. Then, the show flashes back to 2022, when May met Ob-oom as she was sexually assaulted by a pilot. May stopped the assault by getting help and filming the incident. Then, she notices that the stewardess she was saving carried the same name as the girl that saved her all the way back in highschool. Later on, she told May she had changed airlines, and her new boss is a lot nicer. May give her some files, arguably about the pilot being sued to read, but on the second page it says “Will you be my girlfriend?” – Ob-oom accepts this offer – but later she gets jealous of a female business partner of May, while the two of them were having a normal conversation. Later on, Ob-oom ask her grandma why nobody loves her. Then we are back with grandma and Ai-oon who tells her that Ob-oom loved May so much, it was a shock for her when she announced she was going to marry Paul. All Ob-oom told her was that May didn’t love her. Ai-oon is worried that when May finds out she’s been impersonating Ob-oom, she’ll be mad, but as grandma rightly points out, she can’t be her sister forever. Meanwhile, we see the last part of May and Ob-oom hospital conversation May kind of accuses Ob-oom for inventing a twin sister to break up with her. Ob-oom doesn’t want to just hand someone like her over to her sister, because May needs to pay for what she did. As May wakes up from this nightmare, she begins to see again, for the moment, it’s very blurry, but Ton says her vision will begin to improve gradually – after two year’s, it’s d*mn time, he claims. But the situation with Ai-oon leaves her hopeless, though, as Ton tells her, she is waiting outside. Ai-oon apologizes for bailing on her in Kirat, but May says she can wait, because it would be their first time together (so Ob-oom and May never “did it” – I was assuming as much as May confessed in episode 1 already that they never shared a bed). We switch over to Jan and Pim enjoying dinner together. Jan says she wanted her to see something she likes once she got there – and as she doesn’t like Jan yet, it had to be food. Then, some plants are delivered – by Pang, causing the three of them to meet up for the first time. But Pang says she’s happy Pim has found someone new, while Pim is clearly still harboring feelings for Pang. (Sidebar: That Jan and Pim are standing on a elevated terrace in the scene whil Pang did not, made her look extra tiny.) Later, Pang relates the story to Ai-oon – who quickly surmises that Pang in interested in Jan (she is ?!??), but Jan is rather into Pim, but at least she has moved on from Ai-oon. Pang asks about the current state of things with May, but Ai-oon is still convinced that May loves Ob-oom because she is her first love. But how could Ob-oom be a third wheel then a Jan mentioned, Pang asks, and who was May first love. Ai-oon wants to find out so she leaves for Mays place. Back at May’s home, Ton and her are discussing a recent legal development – Ben’s case is going to trial, as may has got an attorney friend of hers join the case, they have filed a civil suit for compensation. But wouldn’t this stir up trouble for Batman and his family? No, say May – because the lawsuit is not targeted at him but at her father. They leave for Korat, a little time later, Ai-oon shows up she calls May on the phone asking her about that day at the planetarium. This time, May has deposited highschool photos of herself in her room – and as Ai-oon sees how May looked back then, glasses and all, she finally remembers the day, and that it was her – dressed in (as Pang earlier had mentioned) her sister’s uniform, dealing with the bullies. So, she is really the first love of May! (We knew already, but it’s about time that she found out.) While in transit so Korat, May speculates that with that obstacle out of the way, she can make Ai-oon hers – and then the news about Ben, Kosol and all the other stuff will be fine as well. Meanwhile Ai-oon prepares to follow May to Korat, as happy as can be. ___ And that’s where is ends. This was a very good episode, perhaps not as earth-shattering as the two before that, but the story progressed nicely this time, and ended on good terms for a change. Will they crash into a wall with Ob-oom waking up from the coma (still unsure why she sent Ai-oon to May, though, I’m not clear on her motives in that hospital scene), May still having to come clean about so much (well, in theory, Ai-oon es well – but all that she could confess, May already knows), plus there’s the threat from May’s father, and May’s vision coming back? And what is going on with that Pim->Pang->Jan love triangle? We’ll find out. Four episodes to go! Hint: it’s getting so much worse…
