One Night, One Proposition, and One VERY Bad Idea đ | Moonshadow EP 1
In the premiere of Moonshadow,
Guarded CEO Chan has long since closed herself off to love, carrying the scars of a painful past and keeping emotional attachment firmly out of reach. But an unexpected night with the bold and magnetic Key throws that carefully controlled life off balance.
Rather than disappearing the next morning, Key makes Chan an audacious proposition: keep her around, no strings attached. What begins as an arrangement built to avoid exactly the kind of emotional vulnerability Chan fears may prove far more complicated when Key's persistence, warmth, and undeniable chemistry start challenging the walls Chan worked so hard to build.

Bye bye N'Dokrak hello N'Key. Bye bye Pam and hello Chan.
Quick question, may I ask why you (and others) start new a series without finishing previous ones you started? Lol I get you wanna stay on top of things but we get invested in the previous reactions with the previous shows we picked and been waiting so patiently Iâm just wondering if youâre ever gonna get back to them? I understand you have a life outside of this lol totally get it..but Iâve seen plenty of other ppl never end up finishing the series they started and it break my heart a little. So, long story short..you gonna finish? Lol and welcome back btw.
Oh come on now. She's finished every series she's started. Even outside of Thai GL. Please don't project other creators onto her. And of course she is going to start the newest! It's fun and exciting. I want to watch it. While still watching the others she's also continuing with, on her time. (you knew she was going to be away and still... not cool)
We start the series and the episode âonce in a blue moonâ with a little flashforward: Chan (played by Emi, of course) is going her Ferrari which is parked in the underground parking lot of her hotel, âThe crescentâ. She gets in and touches up her lipstick, but gets startled as someone in touching her car. She gets out again to scold the two lovers who use their car as makeout base, and tells them to do it somewhere else for ex ample in a hotel room. One of the ladies claims itâs none of her business, while the other â Key (played by Bonnie) keeps staring at her. Chan claims that she owns this place, and tells them if that if they donât want to use a hotel room they can spend the night in jail instead. Chan gets in again, and the lady wants to go as well, arguing that this is ruining her mood â but Key doesnât want to go and tells her to leave instead â she doesnât want to go out with anymore. The lady disappears frustrated, and Key gets into Chanâs car, and tells her she wants to be her sugar baby, and to be adored by her. She claims sheâs good at pampering, and pleads with her to take her. She puts her hand over Chanâs eyes, arguing that the other night, Chan stopped talking when the lights went off, and she thinks that Chan prefers it when itâs dark. And then Key kisses Chan, with Chan soon responding, and them starting to undress each other. Chan claims that she still hasnât told her why she got the moon tattoo (Key has a moon tattoo on her chest). Suddenly, Key starts crying, and Chan asks her why. After the credits, we go back two days, as Chan is managing the renovation of the 11th floor and tells her assistant Game (played by AJ who was Ton in â23.5â) that she doesnât want guests on that floor while the construction is ongoing, and they shouldnât cause any noise after 6 p.m. She adjusts the nametag of another employee, claiming first impressions are important. Game the tells her that Sun is waiting for her in her office. She greets her twin (Sun was the main character in âMy Only Sunshineâ, and is of course also played by Emi) who argues that she has to go to a gala party tonight, but doesnât want to go. Sheâs exhausted from filming for three days straight, and wants Chan to go to the party as her, and argues that they did it in high school where Chan performed as Sun. But Chan claims she only agreed to do that because she was sick. Sun wants to know if she is not interested in being a singer, and argues that when they were young, Chan wanted to be a singer, and Sun wanted to be an actress. But Chan is content with managing the hotel, she claims, and Sun claims thatâs why she motherâs favorite: she always does what she wants her to do. Chan wants to know if sheâs finished, but Sun still wants her to go to the party with her. Chan claims she doesnât like to talk to the press, but Sun claims there will be of lot of pretty girls at the party. But, then she gives up and starts leaving. She gets a call from âJâ after Sun leaves but doesnât pick it up. Key meanwhile gets at text from someone claiming to take her to eat delicious food. She takes her jacket and guitar, and say goodbye to her cat Simba, asking it not to sleep all day. She enters a cafĂ©, orders an iced matcha and sits down in the guest area where Jay (played by Film, of course) is already sitting. He sits down one table over, tastes her matcha, and is delighted at the taste of it. Jay finds her reaction funny, and Key just stares at her, prompting Jay to ask if she wants to say something to her. Key claims that Joy is cute, and Jay wants to know is Key is hitting on her. Key goes over, but claims itâs just a compliment, and Joy returns the compliment. Key knows, she claims, because otherwise Jay wouldnât look at her, but Joy claims that she smiled because she has never seen anyone get that excited about food. Key argues it tastes really good, and offers her a sip and asks for a new straw, but Jay just takes a sip from her straw. Key argues that the always eats there before work and claims sheâs a regular there, and Jay thinks she will become a regular customer, too. Key hopes they will run into each other often. Key asks her her name, but Jay claims she will tell her, when they become acquaintances. And Key hopes they will as she returns to her seat. Chan get into the bar of her hotel as Key and her band are getting ready to play and gets herself a drink. Then, Key introduces her band âThe Petalâ claiming that itâs their first day performing at âThe Crescent.â Chan notices Key as she is singing a pop tune. Later, Chan gets a text from âJâ claiming that they miss her, and asking for another chance. But she doesnât react to it and sips at her drink when another text arrives from âJâ claiming they really want to see her. Chan ignores that as well, which is when a guy takes a seat next to her, and asks her if she is Sun, and she claims sheâs her big sister. The guy calls her by name and starts hitting on her, but Chan apologizes and relays that she only likes women. But he keeps hitting on her until Key comes over, calls her honey, and asks the guy if he wants to say anything to her girlfriend â causing him to give up. Key wants to know if sheâs okay, and Chan confirms it thanking her. Key wants her to buy a glass of wine for her, and Chan immediately order a glass of wine for Key. They cheer, and Key tells her her name and that itâs her first day there. Chan claims she is a great singer, then notices her moon tattoo, and claims itâs pretty. Key knew she would like it, and claims she really likes it herself. Chan asks why did she get the tattoo, is there a particular reason? But key claims that if she wants to know, she needs to come with her. Chan argues that Key is quite flirty and wants to know if she uses this line a lot, but Key claims she uses it only with her, and calls her by her name with Chan never revealing her name. Chan wants to know what she will get if she goes with her, and Key replies she can give her everything that makes her happy. Chan accepts it, but only for the night. Key asks what if she gets addicted to her? Chan wants to know if sheâs that good. Key doesnât reply directly but claims she likes her lipstick, it makes her want to kiss her. Chan gives her the go ahead, and this turns into a heavy makeout session, with Key claiming why the rush, but Chan arguing what else is she waiting for. The next morning, Chan gets ready for work and notices a blemish on her lip that resulted from the heavy makeout the night before, which she remembers in all the details, then covers the blemish up with some lipstick. Meanwhile, Peach (another character we know from âMy Only Sunshineâ, played by Jenny this time, who was last seen as Medsai in âEnemies with Benefitsâ) is having a photo shoot and is not happy with the model who lacks the confidence necessary for the brand. She wants to change the model but the brand specifically chose her, then she wants to give the assignment to other photographers claiming she canât continue to work, but the brand asked specifically for her, so her producer volunteers to talk to the model. Then, Key arrives a greets her enthusiastically as Peach wonders when did she get there, Key claims she got the while she was rebuking her client and claims she was scary. But Peach claims she doesnât need to be scared, because she will always be gentle with her. Key wants to know if she isnât afraid of losing her client, but Peach claims sheâs not doing this for money, itâs just a hobby. Key claims that she is the go-to photographer of the top actress, meaning Sun, but Peach claims that theyâve be working together do often that they are practically friends. Key then wants to know if she knows her twin sister, and Peach claims she has met her a few times, but doesnât know her personally. Key just wants to know if sheâs seeing someone, but Peach doesnât know because she is hard to approach and very private, totally different from Sun. Peach wants to know why Key is asking her about Chan, and Key claims she is just curious and thinks she is pretty. Peach then tells her that this Friday, Big Mom wants to hold a birthday celebration for Dad, and asks her if she wants to go home (revealing that they are sisters). She claims they really miss her and want her to visit them. And Key lies that if she doesnât work on that day, she will go. Peach asks her to let her know if sheâs coming. Chan is negotiating with Phu (a friend we also met in âMy Only Sunshineâ) about the rent for an Omakase restaurant he wants to open in the hotel complex. He argues that he deserves a discount as her friend, but Chan argues that doesnât consider anyone doing business with her to be her friend. She pressures him into accepting her terms, and eventually, he relents. He then tells her about a reunion party of their college classmate next month, arguing that they havenât seen their friends from the States for a while, but Chan isnât interested. Key comes home where Simba already waits for fer, but is apparently pissed that she was gone all night, so she doesnât accepts cuddling. She argues that it was just one night, and suddenly it seems that is isnât taking about Simba anymore. We get a flashback of said night, when Key brought Chan some water after the deed. She asks her why she is so pretty, and praises her eyes, nose and lips. Then she notices the blemish on her lips and apologizes for it, but Chan claims it doesnât hurt. Key wants to know more about Chan, but Chan tells her what happens between them is for that night only. Key asks if she wonât see her again, and Chan confirms it. Then, Key wants to know what if they run into each other, and Chan claims it wonât happen with Key claiming itâs akin to the idiom âonce in a blue moonâ, meaning it happens rarely, but isnât impossible. She means that if they run into each other again, it may be because they are somehow connected. Will she give her a chance then? And Chan confirms it. In her room alone, Key thinks that Chan has forgotten her as she touches her moon tattoo, and cries a little, while Chan calls her to herself a silly kid. Jay is drinking alone, but on her way out runs into Key who is poking around in her food, looking sullen. Key invites her to join her for dinner, but Jay is about to leave. She states that Key doesnât seem to enjoy her meal, but Key claims itâs delicious, she just feels a bit down. Jay asks her if something is bothering her, and Key reports that she met someone. Jay canât believe that a pretty girl like her is going through a breakup; and Key claims that she canât even call it a breakup, as it was just a one-night stand. Jay claims she doesnât need to care about it, then, and argues that there are many girls out there. But Key argues that she is different from other girls. Jay argues that this one night must have been really good, and Key nods silently. Jay claims she now knows why she feels down, and Key doesnât want it to end after just one night. Jay claims that if she thinks this was a great night, she probably feels the same. Key asks her if she was her what would she do? Jay would make a move on her. Key finds this a good idea, then remarks that she still doesnât know her name, but Jay asks does it matter? And argues that this way their relationship will be unique. Key wants to invite her for a drink, but Jay declines claiming she must meet with her family. So they say goodbye to each other again. Key is drinking at the hotel bar as Chan comes in. Key claims they meet again, and Chan asks her what is she doing there. Key claims that she works there as a singer, and has told her they would meet again, because she works at her bar. Chan wants to know why isnât she working that night, and Key claims itâs her day off, but actually, she wants a side job â especially a job where she can be close to her. Chan argues that people who work closely with her must be good at their job, exceptionally good. Key asks her wasnât she good the other night, and Chan pretends she doesnât know what she is talking about and calls her so naughty. Then, Phu arrives and asks her if that is her new friend, but she claims that is just a silly kid he shouldnât pay any attention to. And they leave together, with Key claiming to herself that she upset the pretty sister. Then, the lady from the flashforward comes in and asks her if she came alone, and Key confirms it. The lady then claims that her drink looks tasty and wants to know what the name is. Key asks if she means the name of the cocktail or rather her own name. The lady claims she wants to know both, but she wants her name more. Key lets her taste the drink then claims knowing it tastes good should be enough, and she doesnât need to know the name. They dance together, and the lady asks does she really not have a girlfriend as she is so pretty. But Key claims she doesnât like commitment, and the lady also doesnât like commitment. Then we are back at the beginning, and the scene is a repeat of the cold open â until Key starts crying. After that, Key thinks she should go and excuses herself. The next day, Key is waking up from a nightmare, where she claims she is sorry, and shouldnât have come back. We see flashes of Key in tears holding a bloody knife as she wakes up. She slowly calms down and eventually starts cuddling Simba. She goes to the door and lets Niam in who brought her delicious food. She asks her if Dad and Big Mom told her to bring it to her, but Niam claims no one told her to do this, and claims she made her favorite food, so she wanted to give it to her. Key argues that the next time she can have someone deliver it to her, but Niam argues that she made the food, so she needs to deliver it herself. She starts to clean to condo, and Key claims she has hired a helper for that, but Niam claims again she has to clean it herself. The Madam also brought cat treats for Simba. Key claims that her mother must really miss Simba, and Niam argues that itâs just such a cuddly cat and claims who wouldnât fall for it? Key asks Niam how the mother is doing, and she reports that she is losing her appetite. She barely eats and gets sick often. Niam asks her if she can find time to visit her, claiming although she is not her biological mother, she loves her as much as if she was her daughter. But Key claims she canât go back to that house, though Niam claims it happened a long time ago, and it wasnât her fault. But Key claims it was her fault, it was surely her fault. Niam wants her to stop blaming herself. Chan parks her car thinking about Key, who then bumps into her car and scratches the rear-view mirror. Key apologizes for the damage and wants to call the insurance company. Chan thinks thatâs overkill, but Key claims she needs to take responsibility and offers to buy her lunch thereafter. Chan suspects her of intentionally hitting her car, but Key firmly denies it. Key is on her way to have practice with her band, and didnât want to hit her car, but Chan claims she is always trying to get her attention, and Key admits it, she wants her to pay attention to her, but not like this. Chan argues that she should go and doesnât need to take responsibility for it. But Key wants to buy her lunch as an apology. Chan claims she doesnât need anyone to buy her lunch â but Key now asks her to buy her lunch. So, they sit together for lunch, and Chan wants to know if she is going to eat that. Key admits it, but claims it would be nice if she could have something else as well, and Chan scolds her for her dirty mind, but Key claims all she thinks of is Chan. She then reminds her of her offer, asking her if she is interested in having her as a sugar baby and claims sheâs absolutely serious about it. Is she interested? Chan claims she is a businesswoman who wonât make a deal that doesnât benefit her. Key asks her want she wants, claiming she can give her everything. Chan calls her a player and asks her how many times has she made this kind of offer. Key claims the she is the first and only. Chan argues that she seems to have many girls around her, but Key tells her not to worry, if she takes her, she will cut them off, and leave everything behind. Chan will have all of her, and she will have only Chan. Chan argues that she can spend money on something more useful. But Key claims that they are a good match, and that night, she fell for her. She claims that Chan seems to be pretty into her as well. But Chan claims she hasnât told her yet, why she got the moon tattoo. And she proposes that after finishing lunch, they will go to her condo and she will tell her everything. She also mentions she has a cat at home, a very cute cat. She shows her a photo of Simba, claiming she can hold him, rub his belly and even kiss him. So, they move over to her condo and presents Simba, arguing she can hold him, but Chan claims she never held a cat, but Key claims if sheâs afraid then she can just pat him. Chan sits down on the sofa, and Key shows her how to pat him. Chan admits that he is cute, and admits that she never thought she would be patting a cat. Key claims she already fell for him, and Chan guesses thatâs true. She gets up again and looks around, claiming the Key doesnât seem to have money problems, so why does she want to be a sugar baby? Key confirms she doesnât have money problems, she just wants to be her girl. Chan tells her to stop being cryptic, and asks what exactly does she want form her. Key claims everything is related to this tattoo. Chan wants to know who she really is. We switch to Phasin (played by Pete whom we last saw as Adisorn in âThe Waterâ) feeding his wife Carat (played by Pat whom we last saw as Patâs mother in âPoisonous Loveâ and as Alinâs mother in âMy Safe Zoneâ), just as Muan returns and reports that she has failed to get Key to come back, because she still canât forgive herself about Pin. Phasin claims that this will haunt their family forever, and his wife feels sorry for Key for what sheâs going through. Chan repeats Keyâs real name: Kiran Mahattanakit, arguing that with that last name, she shouldnât work as a singer at her bar. Key argues that she wants to be close to the person who saved her life, to the person who is her first love. Chan asks if they have met before, and Key wonât tell her that they have met, because she has to remember it herself. But she can tell her this: she chose to get that moon tattoo because of her. She is her first love. As long as she can be with her, it doesnât matter what she is to her. Sheâll accept it. And thatâs where âonce in a blue moonâ ends. ____ That was a lot. I admit that that I had my reservations about âMoonshadowâ, mainly because of âMy Only Sunshineâ â but the opening hour showed a more adult Emi and Bonnie as they navigate this story as Chan and Key, and the backstories about the main characters seem to be completely different than in âMy Only Sunshineâ, as Chan and Sun didnât go to school together there. Sun also seems to be unmarried, and their mother is apparently still alive in this version of their story. The premiere was densely plotted and showed much of Emi, Bonnie and surprisingly also Film (whose character Jay in the novel is a minor character, a sign of the usual tweaking and tinkering of the source material by GMMTV). I havenât read âMoonshadowâ after both reading and watching the r*pe/SA plot of âMy Only Sunshineâ, so I donât know what will happen â but am intrigued so far. I just donât know if âMoonshadowâ can reach the heights of âUsâ, and if I will love Chan and Key as much as Pam and Dokrak. But we will see. đ
