The episode starts where episode 4 ended: with Bawornthat reaching Vicky bakery, he mentions to Mali that he’s here to meet Vicky, but she’s busy for a while, she says. But she give her a message if he has something to tell her. He just mentions his name and tells her to say to her he stopped by, then leaves again, making a few photos of the place as proof for dad that he reached out to Vicky. We’re indicated that someone is watching him leave. Then, we go back to Thara and Vicky, who are in the back room folding boxes and denying their mutual attraction – but not for long: Thara kisses her and argues that’s what will happen if she stares at her. And Vicky goes to leave, it seems, but actually she just locks the door to the back room, returns and continues kissing Thara, and they soon start to undress each other, and succumb to their attraction. Mali wants to get into the locked room but hears what they are doing inside, and finally places a “slippery when wet” placard and a mop at the door and leaves them be. After the credits, Vicky and Thara come out of the back room, hot, bothered and sweaty, but happy. Mali asks them whether they’ve finished folding the boxes, and they lie (probably) that they have, but don’t answer the question whether the AC’s broken because they are both sweaty – the Mali tells them that Mr. Bawornthat stopped by earlier. Thara is recalling their earlier meeting and that he left a bouquet for her as well. At night, Vicky and Thara are talking about Mr. Bawornthat at her home, and Vicky claims that she met him for the first time on the VIP training graduation day, but his father sent flowers when she opened the bakery, and mentions that her dad wasn’t okay with Mr. Bawornthat approaching her and told her to be careful, dad thinks that these two have likely some sort of bad intention towards him, and they might use her to get to him. Thara theorizes that he stepped on someone’s toes or has old enemies. But Vicky argues that as a police officer, you naturally have enemies – a good cop id an enemy to the bad guys, and a bad cop is an enemy to the good guys. Then, Mr. Phakphum arrives, and he asks Vicky to take a shower, he will see out Thara himself. Mr. Phakphum has a favour to ask of Thara, and she interprets this as an order, but he calls it asking for her cooperation instead. While stepping outside, he admins that he has colon cancer (I knew it! – that was why he had stints at the hospital), early stages, and still operable, but doesn’t want to tell Vicky because she lost her mother to cancer. He told Vicky that he will be away for a week due to an overseas meeting and wants Thara to stay with her while he’s out, plus he mentions the HQ incident proved that she needs personal protection. We get a flashback of Thara arguing at the HQ that the container did not fall over the railing by themselves – but the CCTV was out on that floor, and she agrees to take care of Vicky. Mr. Phakphum thanks her and mentions that both he and Vicky trust her. Later on the phone with Pete, he argues that from what he learned so far, Mr. Phakphum is not a bad person, but Thara argues that if he had truly helped her father he wouldn’t have died. But Vicky has been threatened twice already, he argues, that probably wasn’t because of her, but because they were her father’s enemies, and Thara agrees. And aside for her father’s case, Mr. Phakphum appears to be clean and out of any shady business, Pete claims and argues that maybe there is more to that than they know. She gets a call from an unknown number and ends the call with Pete to pick it up; it’s Bawornthat, asking her if she likes the flowers that he sent her, but Thara wants to know where he got her number from; he just mentions that it wasn’t easy, but once he sets his mind to something, nothing is beyond his reach. She calls that impressive, then ends the call as she’s exhausted, and he says good night to her, and kisses the phone 🤮. We see that Ann is overhearing this call as he’s outside her condo, and we get a flashback of her finding out that her boyfriend was also dealing with a woman named Vicky, and it was her watching him as he visited the bakery. Then she lets him in, but reacts badly to his advances, saying she is tired. Bawornthat wants to leave again, and she calls him out for only interacting with her fox sex, but leaving when she’s sick, but he argues that she’s a doctor and should bet some help herself if she’s sick. She then admits that she’s pregnant from him, and he asks her how she let this happen, and tells her to get rid of it. She admits she even told him the unethical things about Mr. Phakphum. Because she thought they had a future together, but he just used her. He tells her to calm down, but she accuses him of going to Vicky, which get Bawornthat angry and suspecting she spied on him. She calls him a bastard and slaps his face, he responds by throwing her on the ground, and she throws a large object at him, hurting him in the back of his head. He straddles her… …and the next day, Mr. Phakphum is waiting for his surgery, but Dr. Ann hasn’t arrived yet. The nurses call Dr. Noey because she lives in the same condo. Noey knock without reply at hear condo door, and finally in being let in by the staff, and eventually finds her – floating face-down in the pool 😱. Noey cries at the sight. We get a flashback of Bawornthat in his bathroom trying to get the evidence off his body, and remembering the rage with which he killed Ann. He is rueful at his point, but he after the crime her threw he into the pool. Burin joins him and tells him that he handled everything, form now on, he should pretend he never knew Ann. He argues that he didn’t intend to do it and that she shouldn’t have pushed him to do it (he is really the worst guy…), but Burin just slaps him and tells him to get a grip on himself. This is not the time for remorse, he argues. Thara arrives with Pete at the hospital where Noey is sitting devastated, and she falls into her arms crying. Thara asks about Mr. Phakphum’s surgery, but Noey tells her that another doctor has taken over. Thara offers to stay the night with her, but she has to take care of Vicky as well, so Pete steps in and promises to not pick a fight with her. At night, Thara stays at a guest room just across Vicky’s room in Vicky house. She talking to Pete at Noey’s, and he’s ordered some pizza for her; she tells him to keep an eye on her, and not to get on her nerves. She remember the conversation she had with Pete about the opportunity to find evidence at Mr. Phakphum’s house and goes on to search the house for clues – but doesn’t find anything but a photo of Vicky with her parents at the birthday party that Thara attended, and we get another flashback to that party, and the book that Thara gave her. The light goes on in the living room… … but we switch to Pete and Noey. She catches him eating without her, then realizes that he picked the pineapples off her Hawaiian pizza, arguing who orders that pizza while hating pineapples, but Noey argues that it’s like him leaving the crust of pizzas. She asks if he actually remembered that she doesn’t like pineapples and remember all the time that Pete and Thara teased her with Pete as a potential partner. She asks him if he likes her, and he stare deeply into her eyes – and tells he she’s full of herself. A cool guy like him would never like a girl like her. She denies him any more pizza for that remark. Of course, it’s Vicky who turned on the lights. Thara pretend to have been looking for her car keys, then mentions the picture she’s still holding. Vicky mentions that that was the last family picture they ever took, with her mom being diagnosed with cancer soon thereafter. Thara remembers her conversation with Mr. Phakphum from earlier, and argues she was so young back then and asking how she managed, but Vicky explains she grew up with a nanny and relocated to England to a boarding school after primary school. Then, Vicky asks her about her childhood, but Thara claims it’s late already and defers the talk to later. They kiss a few times, then go to bed (separately 😉). X tells Mr. Phakphum that Ann’s cremation is scheduled for the next day, and he reports that Ann seemed stressed as they last talked, and we get a flashback of them talking about the surgery and Ann mentioned that he delayed in until he found the right person to care for Vicky in his absence. Mr. Phakphum was surprised he knew about it, but she claims to have seen it in the gossip news – the politician’s son and the cop’s daughter, they look cute together. But he argued they barely knew each other, then asks her if she knew Mr. Bawornthat, but she claims she knew him just from the news. Mr. Phakphum reports that Ann mentioned Mr. Bawornthat before her death, and wonders whether there are any suspicions of foul play, but her only relative is her older sister, and she doesn’t suspect anything. He orders X to find out whether Ann actually knew Mr. Bawornthat. X reports that the car that attacked him (off-screen) was tracked to a scrapyard of Burin, with the driver confessing he was hired for the job. The involvement of Burin in the attempt on his life is undeniable, he argues, but taking the to court might tarnish his own reputation and we get a flashback of all the threats Burin made to him and his daughter. Mr. Phakphum argues that the status of limitation will soon expire in Burin’s case, and if he lets it slide, Burin won’t have to take any responsibility at all. Meanwhile, Bawornthat is out partying and using cocaine (I presume), as Burin comes in and tells everybody else to leave. He scolds his son, having told him to lay low for a while, but Bawornthat is scared, he admits, of his recollection of the murder. How many times he has to clean up his mess, Burin argues, and asks him if he knows what he had to sacrifice to wipe his name off the evidence. He laments that he is already dealing with a legislative debate while he’s still causing trouble. He orders his assistant to take his son to a doctor to check him out and do whatever it takes to fix him. The next day, Thara and Pete are sitting outside at the bakery, and Thara gets the VIP treatment, but Mali doesn’t recognize Pete. Then, Vicky comes over and brings Thara a special cake to eat – but Thara shies away from letting Vicky feed her and grab the fork to taste it herself. Pete argues that Vicky is obviously crazy about Thara and thinks she should just forget the past and choose her, but Thara argues that he’s not her and he wouldn’t understand. Then, Noey returns from the funeral of Ann. She reports that there we lots of patients and colleagues at the funeral but only her sister and brother-in-law for relatives, and her secret boyfriend didn’t show up, even tough she talked about going on a trip before her death. Pete argues that they may have just broken up, and that caused Ann to commit s*icide, but Noey heard rumours that Ann was pregnant. Then, Bawornthat comes to the bakery again with a gift for Vicky, she recognizes him at once as Ann’s boyfriend, and she tells Pete and Thara. He gives her some Khao Chae – rice cooked in Jasmine-flavoured water – and says he specifically bought it for her and her father, if he up for solid food yet. She mentions that her father is currently abroad, and she will keep it in the fridge until he returns. He asks her to bring him along when she next visits her, which confuses Vicky, then mentions that his dad cannot reach Mr. Phakphum at the moment and is worried, afraid he might be unwell. He then leaves but gets a box on his head when Mali can’t reach that high – and doesn’t have his rage under control. Thara quickly interjects and pushes Bawornthat away from Mali, and he is delighted to see her, and mentions that he’s heard she’s Vicky’s bodyguard, to which she asks how he knows that, but he doesn’t reply and leaves… …but we get a flashback of Noey encountering Bawornthat at her condo on the night of Ann’s death injured on the back of his head. He reports this to Thara and Pete afterwards. Maybe Ann didn’t commit s*icide after all, she argues, and Pete warns that if Bawornthat in truly dangerous, then Thara and Vicky need to be careful. And that’s where the episode ends. ___ Things turned very dark very quickly, as Bawornthat turned out to be much worse (an actual murderer!) than the whiny playboy he pretended to be. But the show is still thoroughly compelling and entertaining to watch both as a crime drama and as a GL. This by now has surpassed both “Only You” and “Petrichor” by a lightyear at least, and I’m on the edge of my seat for the final two episodes. This is worth all the pain of getting Monomax 😊 - so far (and I wrote this in March), it’s my #2 GL of the year right after “The Earth.” (I wrote this back in March.)
