We start where episode 1 left us, with Vicky arriving late and ill-dressed to the VIP training course. Thara recognizes her at once, she mentions to Noey that she is the owner of the bakery she is obsessed with – but both are wondering what she is doing at a police training. They board the bus to the training and Vicky carries her suitcase with her. At the beach, the trainer orders them to do push-ups and singles out 021 – that’s Vicky – because she delayed the start of this training. She is hesitant to do the push-ups because the ground is hot – but he thinks the police don’t care for that as they need to help people. He orders them to do 30 push-ups, because she dared to talk back without permission and states this will happen every time she does that. After the push-ups, the instructor makes them stand in line then asks them to go inside and change into training gear. The 20 trainees run of to get changed – only Vicky struggles with her suitcase and takes some time to reach the quarters. She is late when she comes out and her hair band is broken – but Thara helps her out and ties her hair neatly, which causes Vicky to smile. They look into each other’s eyes, then rushes to the training field. Vicky makes the mistake of commenting (to herself) that the training looks like a prison and is singled out again as the instructor takes a note of it. He tells her to repeat her claim while faces to the trainees. He then claims that if one person fails, everyone will pay the price, and orders everyone to make 10 more push-ups. He tells Vicky what while this is not a prison, he will make this place for worse than a prison if she lacks discipline. He orders them to start running… …and we get a flashback of Mr. Phakphum ordering him to train his daughter well, and give her the same treatment an anyone else. (He probably curses this assignment by now. 😉) Vicky arrives late to the first class as well and takes place in a row in the back. Thara joins her there, and Vicky asks if this training is for Navy SEALs, calling it incredibly difficult and exhausting, what exactly is this training anyway. And Thara shows her the title card “VIP training for police officers” – which is not what her father told her. Mr. Phakphum is leaving the hospital asking the director if anything unusual happened lately, which gets the director alarmed wanting to know more. They agree to talk at the ministry later, but a motorcyclist stop in front of the hospital and shoots that the director and Mr. Phakphum – who can dodge the bullets but the director gets hit and drops to the floor. As they deal with the injured director, Minister Burin (played by Ton who was the shady BigTech in “Petrichor”) arrives and lament that this happened in front of the hospital in broad daylight – they really don’t fear anyone. He asks Mr. Phakphum to be careful as well, as someone who has worked with him before, he is truly concerned. He promises to keep his guard up at all times. Then he mentions his daughter making delicious cakes and wonders why she turned her into a police officer as he leaves. And we get a list of individuals under high-risk on which the director who was shot was also, having signed off on some building constructed by Burin’s company. We are back with the trainees who are still running close to the beach, with Vicky trailing behind once again. The instructor calls her weak and useless, and asks her what she’s even doing her. She admits she didn’t want to be here in the first place – and he tells her she can go at any time if she doesn’t care to train properly. He tells her that they are the police, and people rely of them – if she can’t handle this, she should just go. Vicky proceeds to leave until Thara stops her; Vicky passes out from exhaustion as she reaches her. Vicky is brought back to the infirmary, where Thara watches her and Noey watches Thara. After three hours, Vicky wakes up hungry, and Thara brings her a glass of water which she finishes in one go – but she is hungry for food. Later, she wants to call her dad to pick her up, to Thara wants her to stay a little longer, to show the people who think she has already given up that she is stronger. She thinks she is as weak as they think she is, but Thara argues that anyone who speak to the instructor like she did isn’t a weak person at all. A weak body can be trained, but a strong heart isn’t something just everyone has. She argues that when she trained at the police academy she was worse that Vicky, and she doesn’t know who sent her there, but they certainly meant well, because in those seven days, she will gain both experience and discover a strength this she never knew she had. She has until tomorrow to decide whether she will continue the course. The next day, there are 20 trainees present as the course begins, but Vicky joins them – late, as usual – and even tripping cannot stop her from participating. And by the end of the day, she’s not the slowest anymore. At dines she is being singled out for drinking before anyone else, but after the push-ups she is doing okay. Then, they have to disarm attacker carrying a weapon, and Thara teams up with her, and after a few pointers (I call that flirting…) she throws Thara to the ground, surprised that she made it. At night, she is alone in her quarters until Thara joins her the as well. She thinks that Vicky prepared to go to the Maldives judging from her suitcase, and she clearly got tricked into participating. She forgot her phone charger, and Thara lends her one. Then, they talk about Thara’s number (007) and how they both like the James Bond movies. She thinks that Vicky likes comedies with goofy heroes, but she doesn’t find her goofy, she finds her beautiful. Vicky claims it feels strange to be called beautiful by someone as beautiful as Thara. Then, Vicky finds the bed to be stiff and uncomfortable and argues she will have trouble sleeping, but falls asleep before Thara can even respond 😉. Her dad calls Vicky, but as Thara picks it up, and Mr. Phakphum aborts the call, (correctly) assuming she’s already fallen asleep because she is exhausted. He reads his hospital transcript which mentions constipation and irregular bowel movements before telling (his daughter?) not to be mad at him. Thara has to wake up Vicky for guard duty. They have to guard a pier, and Vicky calls her by her name as she asks her whether she’s sleepy Thara asks her to not use her name, but Vicky thinks that at this hour, no one will listen. Thara argues they should follow the rules regardless, and Vicky calls her as strict as her father, who is a perfectionist – except for her, he totally spoils her. What made he join the police, Thara asks, and Vicky points out that she has a degree in languages, but always liked to bake, so her father opened a cake shop for her which she ran, until something happened and forced her to join the police. She asks her why Thara joined the police, and she doesn’t really know – but if she can save one good person, to ensure that justice is served for the bad guys, that’s more than enough to make it worth it. Vicky sits down as she falls asleep again, and Thara joins her to let her rest her head against her shoulder, and takes a few photos of them both. Afterwards, they tells her to take some rest as they have target practice the next day, but Vicky wants to take a shower first, and persuade Thara to break the rules once more. They walk to the showers, but Vicky has to splash herself with water instead of properly showering not to draw attention. Thara is attracted to Vicky but goes to wait outside – until someone checks the showers out. They quickly hid in a storage closet, and are absolutely silent as the assistant instructor checks every room, and as she comes closer, Vicky frantically hugs Thara – but the assistant instructor get aa phone call from her mother leaving the room in which Thara and Vicky are hiding unchecked. Vicky asks Thara why her heart is beating that fast, and after what feels like an eternity they kiss just as the episode ends. ___ It took me a week to finally get the subscription for Monomax through and watch this via VPN – the company apparently doesn’t want any out-of-country watchers. It is not based on a book, but an original creation for the screen. This was a good second episode which focused on Thara and Vicky getting to know each other with featuring several fish-out-of-water moments for the baker-turned-police. I liked the episode even as it was slower that the premiere for featuring some realistic training exercises and not the BS that “Only You” gave us. I suspect that Minister Burin will be at least as shady as BigTech was in “Petrichor”. If Monomax doesn’t invent another hurdle, I will get to episode three ASAP.
