The episode starts with a flashback revealing that May did not only know about Ob-oom and Paul’s wedding, she also knows about their accident, and by the looks of it had something to do with it, even though Ton tells her that she it not to blame and no one wanted this to happen. She knows from Ton – who works at the hospital they were brought to – that Paul is dead, but that Ob-oom is out of the woods now, but still unconscious. Just at this point Ai-oon shows up at May’s to break up with her. She wonders if this might be “her Ob-oom”, and goes down to check on her, and realizes she is the one she loves. Then we flash back to little further to high school, and a still-seeing May encountered Ai-oon – on the day she impersonated Ob-oom back in episode one – and fell in love with her on first sight. (So, it was Ai-oon she loved from the beginning, and probably got together with Ob-oom just because of the first switch-up. That changes things.) We’re back at May and Ai-oon’s trip to Ploy’s restaurant in Korat (roughly 250km to the northeast of Bangkok), they have arrived. May tries to contact Ton, but as we know her phone died earlier on, so she can’t reach him. But they go in anyway, and meet Ploy in front of the restaurant as Ai-oon realized she has left her phone in the car and goes back. Ploy accompanies May inside. (So much for never leaving her side … 😉) Ann and Franc – her old friends – greet her, they are the only guests today as the restaurant doesn’t open until the next day. They tease the Ploy and May about a possible rekindling of their love, but May has a girlfriend – which right at this point enters the restaurant. Awkward glances follow, then they cheer each other and congratulate Play for her restaurant. The topic of May’s blindness comes up, and Franc and Ann pity her for “a stupid circumstance” that made her eyesight go away. Ploy intervenes as May is still stupidly rich and successful, more so than Frank and Ann. (How did the conversation turn that way?) Ann is happy just to be a housewife to a billionaire, but May reminds her that these things can go away fast; she knows as she has handled many divorce cases. Ann congratulates May for not being dependent on her girlfriend who is … Ai-oon answers straight away that she is a delivery person aspiring to be a novel writer. Is it hard to make ends meet with that kind of a job, they ask, and Ai-oon confirms that it is not easy, but that she doesn’t care about being glamorous. That volley hit dead center, Ploy can’t prevent from smiling, and May silently congratulates her. In the bathroom, Ann and Franc threw shade at May for still acting all high and mighty, but Ai-oon overhears this and doesn’t let it slide. Ploy and May approach the three girls as they are arguing outside. Ai-oon tells May what happened, but May tells her to stop and requests to talk to her alone. They walk to the car where Ai-oon scolds her for not standing up against her “friends” for talking shit, but May says it is Ploy big day and she doesn’t want to ruin it – and she tells Ai-oon to stop taking her side, as she isn’t that good a person. But you’re still the best person for me, Ai-oon replies to that as she leaves the car for a moment, giving May a chance to finally catch up with Ton. Ton tells her that it was Kosol who attacked her as a revenge for representing Batman, they guy who ran over Ben. The three of them – Kosol, Ben and Ai-oon – were all friends. As Ai-oon returns, they don’t have time to reconnect any further; Ai-oon took the time to put some smelly fishes in a pan and left the stove on, but of course didn’t tell May that. As the smell permeates the restaurant, the sprinklers go off, with Ploy, Ann and Franc underneath. Ai-oon and May, meanwhile drove off in the car – Ai-oon is ready to go back to Bangkok, but May still want to be they for Ploy at the grand opening. (That was not the greatest idea of Ai-oon.) So, they check into a hotel; but Ai-on say it’s not too late to change their minds. But May say Ploy is her friend; Ai-oon doesn’t think Ploy likes her anymore, and her other friends hate her. This reminds May of the conversation she’s had earlier with Ton – Kosol, Ben and Ai-oon where friends, too. So, May asks her: if her friends hated May, would she, too? “That depends on what you did wrong” probably wasn’t the answer she wish to hear, but the conversation is interrupted by someone at the door. It’s Ploy – dressed differently – saying that they need to talk. She claims Ai-oon tried to burn the restaurant down. That’s not entirely accurate, but Ai-oon freely admits it to May surprise, but May counter-attacks anyway, scolding Ploy for not defending her. Ploy gives in, but kind of uninvites Ai-oon to the big opening tomorrow, saying she will find someone to pick May up instead. Then she leaves – but May isn’t willing to give in, nor to return home … … but instead she dresses up Ai-oon in fancy dresses, claiming she will show everyone that Ai-oon is not the problem. We get a fashion show with Ai-oon trying on various and showing her skills describing things in an eloquent manner in the process. Ai-oon wants to dress up May, too, and she agrees. The flirty vibes between the two are interrupted by Ton who has arrived announcing make-up and hair artist will arrive in ten minutes. So, really May goes all out on this… 😊 Ai-oon gets a call from her grandma, leaven Ton and May to talk privately once again. Toy asks if this is all for May, May confirms this claiming Ai-oon would never leave her if she’s not okay, so she’s the one for her as well, and she’s confident that she will to leave her even after she knows the truth. (But what truth you are talking about, May?) Grandma want Ai-oon to join Jan collecting Ob-oom’s things from Paul’s house, but she isn’t in Bangkok; she arranges for someone to fill in for her. Now, who might that be? 😉It’s Pang who accompanies Jan to Paul’s house which doesn’t look like a couple’s home. We get a flashback with Paul, Jan and Ob-oom explaining why that is the case: Ob-oom didn’t really care for their home leaving Paul to make all decisions. Jan tried to explain this by saying Ob-oom wasn’t into house decoration, but Paul thinks she isn’t into him, she does not love him. But that doesn’t matter to him because she loved her so much. Jan says if she had known those for the final days of Paul’s life, she would have told both Ob-oom and Paul not to bother with this relationship (so, you’re not that good of a fortune-teller, are you? 😈) Pang asks whether Jan helping Ai-oon has anything to do with that, and Jan just says she want to redeem a friend’s sin (That friend must be May, right?) Then, we are at the grand opening of Ploy restaurant. May and Ai-oon appear a little late but make up for that by looking stunning and turning everyone’s heads. Ai-oon then apologizes for going too far the day before, May then requests that Ann and Franc also apologizes, which they reluctantly do. Ton didn’t expect them to give in this quickly, but May has business connections to their families that would sour if they wouldn’t. The party goes well, then suddenly, the light goes out. All but May are shocked at the current darkness, it turn out that a fuse blew and the replacement is half an hour away. Toy wants to calm down Ploy but she ignores her offer. Meanwhile, May isn’t worried – until a small kind is frightened by the darkness and starts crying, she want to help Ploy, but doesn’t know how to. But Ai-oon has an idea: they tell a story of a rabbit, a wolf and a hawk via shadow play. They successfully capture their audience until the light goes on again. Afterwards, Ploy thanks Ai-oon for saving the grand opening, and apologizes for calling her a problem earlier. Ai-oon say it’s nothing and ask what else she could have done – Ploy was May’s first girlfriend, after all. But Ploy says that they were really friends mostly, and that May never truly loved anyone because she couldn’t forget her first love, who was beautiful, graceful and brave, and that May just showed everyone that she truly loves Ai-oon. Ai-oon seems worried, probably thinking the one person May couldn’t forget was Ob-oom. Later, in their hotel bathroom, May notices some scented candles and asked if Ai-oon brought them along. Ai-oon confirms this, admitting to ask Ton about them who told her that the candles not only helped May relax and provided comfort, but also supported her sense of direction. May compliments her by saying that “her Oom” is beautiful, competent and brave – repeating Ploy’s claims almost word-by-word. Ai-oon finally says “I love you” and May says the same as they start kissing that turns into partially undressing each other. During the makeout session, Ai-oon asks her why she loves her. May claims that she is her first love, and she fell for her at first sight. This put a sudden stop to the kissing, Ai-oon claims she need some fresh air. (To me, she knows that can’t be her, so May must really love Ob-oom. She doesn’t know that May actually fell for _her_. That’s some dilemma!) We switch to grandma who notices that Ai-oon hasn’t switched off the lights. She switches them off, then notices that the PC is also still running. On screen, she catches a note from someone (to Ob-oom, of course) asking her whether she has recovered and attaching a photo of May and Ai-oon at the party in Korat. So, now grandma know Ai-oon is posing as Ob-oom. Ai-oon meanwhile sits drunk on the street where Ton finds her, she is in an aggressive mood, saying she’ll fight anyone. But she can’t love the one in her heart, because she would need a time machine for that. Then, she passes out. (This is really tragic, as she’s actually envious of herself.) Ton carries her back to the hotel room, where Ai-oon then lays on the bed talking in her sleep/delirium saying she doesn’t want to be Ob-oom anymore. May replies to her that she knows she is not Ob-oom, and that Ai-oon really loves her. But would she still love her if she knew that she is the reason that someone she loves is dead? ____ We leave it at that. Whom is May talking about? As far as we know, the only ones that died by now are Paul, and Ai-oon/Ob-oom’s parents, and they don’t fit the description. Is she talking metaphorically, or is she talking about a future death (e.g. of Kosol). Edit: I forgot someone, see next week. That was a pretty tragic, heartbreaking, but good episode playing almost entirely on unfamiliar terrain (Korat), and we got a lot of information revealed. For now, the main questions are: • What did May in reaction to Paul/Ob-oom’s marriage that was so horrible? Did she cause the accident? • Whom did she “kill”? • When will Ai-oon find out the truth? • What hand has Jan in all this? I’m interested to find out so I’ll be glued to my TV for the next episode.
