The penultimate episode start with Lada’s family host a dinner for Kirk and his father, and the father likes it when Lada’s father calls the family, as her brother seem to like it, too. But her mother and Lada herself seem unimpressed as he claims Lada is a bit too thin, and it look doubtful the she could carry his firstborn to terms. Kirk doesn’t care about Zodiac signs or her weight, though, he claims they must make it work together, and finds her quite hot actually. Pat asks him if he likes her, and Kirk claims it’s love at first sight – but Lada has heard enough and excuses herself from this dinner, with her father yelling after her. As the kitchen she hears her mother and father arguing about whether or not to force Lada into this marriage. But her father maintains his plan: to marry her off so that she wouldn’t be a burden to the family anymore. But Lada’s mother wants to care of herself, her father wants to slap her again, but Lada holds him back, claiming she will call the police if he doesn’t stop. But the father slaps her instead then tells her to pack her bags and get the hell out of there. Lada wants to take her mother with her, but her father tells her she should make sure that she has enough money for her mother’s lawsuit, and reveals that the reason her mother almost never leaves the house is because she killed a man. She claims it was an accident, but he argues how can stabbing someone to death be an accident? She claims that man was trying to rape her, but he argues that she slept with that bastard, and she killed him because was afraid he would tell him. But he argues that all she has in her words while he kept the murder weapon. He claims that it’s all Lada’s fault for falling in love with Adisorn daughter and betraying the family to the Watin group. Her mother tells her she doesn’t have to marry Kirk, she has done enough for her, and her father tells his oldest brother to call the police. He wants to know if that is really necessary but Pat claims he will do it. Her father tells Lada that if it’s okay for her mother to go to jail in order for her to be happy then she should go on. At this point Lada folds promising him to marry Kirk if all will be over. Pat and his father are happy now, but they are the only ones. Lam notifies Nam of the impending marriage of Chonlada to Kirk. Later, Nade is visiting Lada, and argues that this won’t make anything better, but Lada want Nada to be mad, because she’s her only friend. But she told her to love herself more, but now she’s letting her father marry her off to some guy she barely knows. Is she trying to ruin her own life just because she’s heartbroken, she wants to know. But Lada argues that she has always been helpless, never got to voice out her own thoughts, and that’s why she’s often used by others and why they’re trying to get rid of her once they find her useless. But Nade thought she said she would heed her advice, and argues why can’t she love herself more? But she does love herself, she argues, she just loves he mother more. She tells Nade that she knows her decisions have never been easy, and argues that if she makes a mistake again her mother might be in trouble, too. The wedding day begins, and Kirks parents give them gifts and ask them to be kind to one another and always forgive each other. Nade looks nervously around as is she expecting something. Land and Kirk move one to receive gift from her parents. Her father asks Lada to be a good wife and not to let him wait too long for his grandson. Lada is crestfallen, but goes through with the photoshoot. Later, her mother tries to talk to her claiming that it’s not too late to change her mind, but Lada wants her to trust her decision. Then the sister-in-law comes in and tells them the her father wants her to sign the wedding certificate before the evening party. But her sister-in-law reminds her that this is purely a business transaction, and tells her to hurry up. Then, Nade comes in to tell her that there’s a commotion in the hotel lobby. Her father wants to know what is going on and the hotel manager tells him that a suspicious bag was found near the kitchen and the police wants to search the hotel as a precaution, and a number of police offices come in and search the place. And Lon tells Fai, and Nam to go get Lada from her bridals suite while she will carry out a diversion. Nam thanks her for it, and Lon claims it’s nothing and they got the hard job: to get Lada out of here. Name and Fai run into Pat who suspects there is something fishy going on but Lom cuts the power to the hotel before he can tell anyone, and they Lom tells everyone to evacuate the hotel leaving Pat no choice but to go downstairs. Nam and Fai quickly proceed to Lada hotel room as they encounter fleeing hotel guests. And we see Din and Rose are waiting downstairs with the getaway car. But as Nam reaches the bridal suite, all the is left of Lada and her mom is a not at the dress claiming she’s sorry, but she can’t marry him. Two weeks later, Lada is driving through the Nan province, a forested region of northern Thailand near the border to Laos. She reaches the house where she is living now with her mother and has bought everything she wanted, everything but the noodles, that is. Mother says it’s alright, and Lada reports that she also bought a toolkit to fix things like the garden door. Mother claims that her brother Wat promised them he would find someone to fix the door for them. But Lada argues he has done enough already, and she doesn’t know how to repay him. Mother wants to know whether this place is far aways enough to live freely from now on. Mother is preparing instant noodles for them and Lada is reminded for her cooking for Nam, and she get sad and claims that something got in her eye and she has to wash up first. But on the front lawn Lom is waiting for her and calls the name of the place “End of loneliness” oddly fitting as Lom also knows someone who is lonely right now. Lada wants to know how she found her, and she explains she has many police friends in almost every province, and they told her what they encountered Lada and her mother. Lom tells her that her father already sold his Hua Hin branch, but Lada claims that has nothing to do with her, but Lom mentions that if Pat comes looking for her, she might no longer feel safe, but Lada claims that she and her mother could always more somewhere else. Lom wants to know if she’s mad at Nam or hates her now, but Lada claims that she’s a bad person who lied to Nam, and ever took advantage of her father’s trust to benefit her own family. In the end she didn’t do it though, Lom reminds her, and tells her they even raided the hotel for her. Lada is shocked to find out Nam was at her wedding, and Lom remarks that all this time, they put their own families first, and nudges her she should start anew and do what her heart truly wants. Lada argues that she might be able to run away from the Wachara group, but she has still their blood running in her veins. And she’s well aware that their two families are archenemies, so she doesn’t think that Nam and her could start anew together. And she argues that if Lom keeps doing this her mother and her would have no choice but to move away. She tells to tell Nam that if she really forgives her, she should let her go. Then, her mother call her to the table and so she pretend that Lom was interested in the homestay and wanted more information. She leaves with her mother, and Lom talks to Nam who heard their whole conversation, and she asks her to leave the rest to her. Lada is driving again to bring the noodles she forgot the other day. One her way the finds a street vendor with tulips and sunflowers so she stops to get them but the vendor claims they are all taken, and she reveals herself to be Nam, asking her to take her thought of her instead. Lada wants to go, bur Nam holds her back claiming she is glad to see her again. She just wants to explain what Lada hears that day, and claims she is getting her wrong. But Lada claims she already knows who she is, and wants to be left alone. But Nam clams she can’t leave her alone, but Lada claims that’s none of her business, because she doesn’t have any feelings for her anymore. And Lada gets back in her car and honks Nam off the road to leave. As Lada return someone has brought tulips to her mother, and her mother claims they were sent by the flower shop, Lada tells her not to accept any deliveries in the future and throws the tulips out, placing them on top of the garbage can. Afterwards, Nam collects the and walks away sullenly and Lada see they are gone when she carries the trash out, but sunflowers are there with a note claiming, “our love will never die”. We see Nam looking at Lada finding and leaving the sunflowers there. Later, Lada look at the webpage for their homestay and they have a hundred followers after three days. Mother wants to know whether her father of Pat can find them this way, but Lada claims to have used alias names and no information which could be traced back to them. Then, they get their first booking and her mother claims that only two rooms are finished. But a Napa wants to book two rooms for the following weekend … … and we see that Nam is doing the booking. Lom argues that there is no way for Lada to find out that it’s her, but Lada sends a message back claiming that they are fully booked. And we learn that Adisorn told her Napa is a name used in her childhood when other children also had names ending with “a”, so she rejected the booking. At night, Lada strolls around when she notices some drones flying over her, and they soon form a sunflower and a tulip, and the words “I miss you” and “Forgive me”, followed by a single drone carrying a flash drive to her, and we see that Nam is steering the drone. Lada at first discards the drive but eventually puts it into her laptop and finds a folder named “Chonlada” which contains photos of memorable places which they shared like the pool where she retrieved the guest’s bracelet, the meeting room where they enjoyed shrimps together or the noodle shop at the road side where they enjoyed wonton soup. Lada and Nam both start to cry. Afterwards, Lada calls Nam to meet her and they meet on her front lawn. Lada claims that she has gone too far to turn back, and that’s it’s not about them alone anymore. If she turns back now, she will get others into trouble, too, she argues, and she can’t do that. If it’s about her mother’s case, Nam claims, then her father has always lied to her, because her attacker was just injured but didn’t die – and we get a flashback of Nam meeting Nade revealing her to be Preem’s contact inside the mansion. And then, she told her the story of Lada doing this for her mother to spare her from jail. Nam asked Lom for help and the case was resolved years ago by her father paying for everything, and she’s free from now on, and she can rest assured that her father won’t use this to threaten her again. Lada thanks her and vows to repay her for helping, but she wants to end the conversation. Nam begs her to give her a chance, and argues she must also be sad to be apart like this, and then, she presents her the tulip ring claiming she originally wanted to give it to her on her birthday. Now that they have met again, she will show her that from now on, no matter what happens. She will never be afraid. The only things she fears is never seeing her again. She promises to love and cherish her better than before, and asks her to get back together. But Lada is sorry and leaves her, and as they both are crying, the penultimate episode ends. ___ This was pure heartbreak as the episode had to deal first with the wedding for hell, and then with a Lada who won’t allow herself to be happy. The TV show doubled down on the novel as they invented a murder charge and a (useless) police raid to get Lada out, then made Lada even more determined not to choose her own happiness as she reject Lom and Nam over and over again. So, they drag her redemption arc right into the finale, when everyone but Lada herself has forgiven her long ago. I don’t like what changes they made from the novel, but will of course watch the finale next week.
