My Best Valve Interview, So Far - Jeri Ellsworth
Back in 2011, Jeri Ellsworth was hired to start a hardware team at Valve. This team then were some of the first to experiment with Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality. She then was fired in 2013 in a mass layoff that forever changed the company.
When Valve fires someone, they offer to pay severance in exchange for an NDA, disallowing anything to be said about Valve. Jeri is the first person I've yet spoken to who refused the money, to get the truth out into the public, and the result was the most candid and honest interviews I have yet conducted.
