The Great Sleep damaged Zahndrekh's mind. Despite evidence that proves otherwise, he believes that he is still a Necrontyr of flesh and bone working to crush the rebellions of the Wars of Secession millions of years ago.

I read "Severed" by Nate Crowley weeks after I lost a relative who suffered from dementia. It was devastating, but somehow also hopeful? Zahndrekh is still able to enjoy life even after he lost his mind. Other than orks, he might be the happiest character in Warhammer.

I started to draw a lot about 3 years ago, though I did draw time to time even before that
ah Zahndrekh and obryon one of the mamy great necron comeey duos, along with Trazyn and Orikan and Nebusimek and his world mind. honestly I would love to see Zahndrekh and Nebusimek hang out both convincef they are still al8vr while Obyron comiseratez with tje world mind.
Wrinkles are a important thing to look out for, it is rude to put them off claiming such things as “Metal bodies” or “soulless machines”

At the same time there are some lines that indicate that he is at least (sometimes) partially aware of what has happened to his entire race. He also just kind of rolls with it. He went so insane that he circled around to became (sorta) sane again. To quote the old bot himself. "wouldn’t it be better, Obyron, just to accept our fate, and enjoy immortality for the everlasting life of merry campaigning it has proved to be?"
Every Necron needs his obsession, and what greater obsession than drawing out the greatest bit of all time for eternity?
If we don’t have souls Obyron then why do you look so stressed? 😫 What, if not a creature with a soul, could be so stressed out?
