Soulless
Btw, I used an AI slop I found for the Necron Lord's painting because they're often described as soulless, so I thought it fits (hope it's okay in this case...)
And Necron lore bits about their artistry:
But the process of bio-transference, the blighted gift that had moved their consciousness to deathless metal bodies, had also burned away nearly all artistry.
His kind were no longer artisans or poets. Those few that retained the knack found their powers diminished. Now they forged rather than created. A work that took this much care, this much love, was beyond them.

I think one of that most interesting thing with necron character is those that are to some dégrée aware tor their lacking or even "insanity" to some dégrée (for the later it's more often they entourage but still) remind me of that lord that asked an ia to take control because he knew hé was losing is mind! (And later being surprised by human soldier he casualy resurect the one he killed by reflex and ofer them "dîner")
Using an AI image for a species that have lost all ability to create art is incredibly poignant. Love it.
When you have no eyes but you want to cry.
The xenos have found the machinations of our subhuman hereteks. this is a dark day
That's such a poetic use! I am glad you included this explanation. I would not have this deeper understanding if you had not shared.
In my Rogue Trader game, one of the artifacts is a Necron head who communicates with the PCs. It says the Necrons lost all emotion, creativity, love, and hate when they made the transfer so they only do the things they do to experience the "memory" of what they experienced in life--however fleeting.
A really intelligent use of A.I. generated content, are the Necrons going to become recurrent characters in your works?
And it makes the situation for the Necrons all the more tragic. Because all those artists and poets? They might be able to make micron accurate brush-strokes and perfect pitch 100% of the time, far better than they ever could in life. But at the same time they know that thier new works have lost....something. Something that the C'Tan took from them, something that they can never get back. That Overlord? He likely knows exactly what Mara is talking about.
Why has mara been captured by necrons?
Necron lord just randomly kidnapping people for critic, Mara was unfortunate (it's just a non-serious cameo though :3)
It fits pretty well
Ok this is just too clever. You've found a way to incorporate AI slop to make a powerful statement of your own. This makes me feel so sad for the Necrons. No matter how hard they try to be more, they're just very advanced LLMs.
Incredible work!
Gives me the idea of Trazyn having one particularly eloquent art critic, probably an eldar, in his museum that he occasionally brings out of stasis to get their opinion on other pieces. Eldar: "Hmm... There's a fervor to these brush strokes, a desperation to bring an image into being before the clarity of the memory is gone from the artist's mind, it calls to mind the failing minds of elderly mon'keigh... I suspect this artist has more famous works they did in their youth, but I doubt those would have the will to create as fervently portrayed as it is in this piece" Trazyn: "Yes... I think i will take this one and leave the others, thank you" *puts eldar back in poke-ball for later*
This is about the only context AI slop is appropriate.
Trazyn brings this up to Orikan when they’re watching a human play in that Necrons have better history but they don’t change, their culture, art, music, everything has become stagnant and soulless. Even their plays on the recreation of the War in Heaven are down to the very last detail perfectly but that takes eons to watch a single act and there’s no out of balance, no imperfections, boring
Brilliant
first of all, by using AI slop to demonstrate what soulless art done by a soulless machine would look like you is true artistry. also I have said this before but Mara's willingness to speak her mind seems like it could be the basis for a firm friendship between her and aun imposter syndrome.
The one situation where using AI "art" is appropriate.
A proper use of Ai lol its a great comic
O'Shen sending Mara on her first diplomatic solo mission, only to somehow end up in the hands of the Necrons, then sent back to the Tau because another Necron Dynasty wanted to screw with the one she was in.........is probably what happened, that or Trazyn decided to cause some mischief again which resulted in Mara ending up back with the Tau. Either way, she has quite the story to tell when she gets back home.😂
Because of her honesty. The Necron shows her a second painting. A painting of a feast!
This was a fun read. Csnt wait to see more
Using AI for that purpose is great, brings the point across both in the comic and on our end.
I think specifically in this context and the commentary being made the ai slop can have a pass lol
Mara now captured by Necrons?!
Just a short cameo, she probably gets released soon after this
I like it!
