Jump 1.6: New customizable handheld + systems, Settings visual overhaul, Systems view, Droid Deck support and more!

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Ryan Retro Patreon! Today I'm bringing you Jump 1.6 which has a complete overhaul of the Settings menus to make them easier to navigate through. It also adds customizable images of handhelds and systems to really make things feel like home to you! Check out my previous post here for more details about them. I'm also going to be releasing a video very shortly going through all the new stuff!

New Features

- A new ’Systems’ tab shows all the handhelds and systems you’ve got and can be set as the tab which the ‘B’ button goes to instead of the Home screen

- The systems are all customizable including colorways for Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, 2DS, 3DS, Joycons… there’s a lot!

- I’ve also added some system variant images like the Famicom, Genesis Model 2, Pikachu N64. Again, have a play around :)

- You can choose from various colorways, customize the color or add your own images instead.

- You can add your own ‘screen’ image to the handhelds - I cut out the screen in the .png files so there’s an empty space to place your own game screenshot.

- All changes you make in the Systems view will also show up on the system bar and game switcher, which brings me onto my next point…

- New system bar styles! The original text-based system bar remains (GB, GBA, PS2, etc.) but there are now 2 more variants: Logos and Pictures. Logos will show the device’s logo and Pictures will show the customized system pictures, the same as the ones in the systems view and game switcher.

- There’s a new Duplicates option under Settings -> Library to help hiding or deleting duplicate entries.

Visual Overhaul

- All of the Settings menus have been overhauled to make things grouped in a more sensible way, easier to navigate, and easier to see what you’re actually affecting when changing settings. Check out my video walkthrough to explain it all better.

Browsing Improvements

- The ‘Hero’ view has been renamed to ‘Carousel’ and the descriptions and secondary images can be hidden to turn it into a horizontal carousel view.

- New tabs: All Games, Favorites and Recently Played. They can be shown on the system bar and in system view. Toggle them on or off in Setting -> Library -> Systems

- New ‘Deep scan’ and ‘’Folders’ buttons per system. ‘Deep scan’ will show every nested game. Turning on ‘Folders’ will make that system show all the folders within like a file manager but still only showing compatible games within each folder.

- Two shelves navigation fix: the d-pad crosses between them, and the end of one carries on to the other.

- In List, Carousel and Shelf views: the name, box and cart change the instant they appear.

- A game marked as ‘Completed’ in the Backlog can now be fully colored with a large check mark on it for easy visiblity.

- The Game Renamer can rename arcade titles.

Launching Improvements

- Droid Deck launches .steam games and gets covers from Steam

- Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro support

- Dolphin: a paused game should survive in the background now without closing

- Top/Bottom Screen selection on dual-screen devices in a system’s settings

New systems and art

- Atari 800, ZX81, ZX Spectrum and X68000 have been added along with their pictures, cores and folder names

- Thousands more artwork for GBA, c64, Switch, Xbox 360, PS2, and PS3

Bug Fixes

- I somehow lost my notes for the bug fixes… oops… But every bug that has been reported since 1.5 should be fixed now! If there’s still a persistent bug, please send another bug report and I’ll aim to get it fixed this week!

You should be able to update in-app :) If you have any issues, please let me know either as a comment on here or via direct message or Discord. I'm always happy to help! Thank you so much for your support ❤️

I love how fast it scrapes. Just one thing i want to ask, Is it possible to add some ui sounds in the future?

Hi Ryan. Any plans for discord rich presence integration? Genuinely the only thing I miss from my prior front end. Jump is a dream! Very smooth app, it needs more recognition for sure.

Thank you a lot for paying again! If you want you can apply for a refund and I'll refund you this month as I said it'd only be a 1-time thing and I don't want to make you pay twice if you don't want to

Hey Ryan. I tried Jump yesterday for the first time. And its great. I'm a blind gamer and jump is accessible with the Talkback screen reader. I searched for a launcher and yours works 99,999 percent perfectly. A big thanks from Germany.

I'm so happy to hear that! Please let me know if there's anything I can add that'll make it better for you!

Amazing! Thank you so much. Is it possible to exclude android apps from the Recent list that appears in the Home tab? Had a good look around settings and couldn't spot anything.

Sure I'll add that feature

Nice work. Noticed that the Hero view is still named "Hero" for me though, not sure why

R
Ryan Retro · October 15, 2026

The naming is being a bit buggy for some reason so I'll fix that properly

Nice job Ryan! But i still have some problems with my save files. When i launch games from jump all my saves are gone but if i launch from quickstep or Cocoon etc there is no problems. Thx again

Which emulators are you using? Is that RetroArch or something else? I'll look into it for you
