RePlayOS is evolving...
Hi everyone,
The next RePlayOS update introduces an important shift in how the system will be distributed and maintained.
This release will include all the remaining low-level and technical work that was originally planned for v1.0.0. These foundational improvements are now complete and will serve as the base for future features.
🚀 New: System Online Updater
RePlayOS is moving to a rolling update model.
From now on:
There will be a single base image
All future improvements will be delivered through the System Online Updater
You install once, and keep your system updated directly from within RePlayOS
New full images will only be released when strictly necessary:
Breaking system changes (bootloader, firmware, partitioning)
Major architecture changes
New hardware baseline (e.g., Pi6)
📦 Base image naming
The final name of the base image will be:
replayos-base-rpi-v1.6.0.img.xz
Notes:
“base” indicates this is the initial install image
“rpi” covers Raspberry Pi targets
The version is kept for traceability and support
The file is compressed using .xz (supported directly by tools like Balena Etcher and Raspberry Pi Imager — no manual extraction required)
