More Water for Our Farm - Episode 48

Hello lovely patrons

Maximising water run off to the dam on the farm was something we really wanted to improve this year. Thanks to the help of our tractor, our friend's grader and some ancient technology, Troy built us a custom diversion ditch on contour this Autumn to capture the water that was frustratingly running off our property during last year's rains. This video captures how he did it with a real time mid-Winter update on how the new drain is performing.

But it's not all water saving wisdom this week, as we bring you with us to collect more free food off property for both the livestock and ourselves. Troy also introduces you to a very unique marsupial endemic to our area, the brush-tailed phascogale or wambenger. When we first moved here and were told about their name and unique breeding ritual by a family member we thought he was pulling our legs! So we were very pleased to find a perfect specimen recently on the property so we could share with you some fun facts about this little critter.

As always our most sincere gratitude for your ongoing support

Troy and Pascale

Watching your farming, food gathering, tractor work reminds me of my days out in the field plowing fields gathering food, butchering animals. I’ll have to say that now at this stage of my life the boating life is so much easier.

I'm sure with the life you've led, you well understand the desire for a well rounded existence. So much to learn and it only comes with experience. Now that we have that experience, I'm sure we'll fully appreciate it if we return to the sea!

There's always so much to do, but we often wonder if people will find it interesting. Thanks for the encouragement!
