A rope version of a tail hook with your hand the arresting wire. Nice.

Great idea to catch the drone. I had a swim at Hamlin bay on Tuesday arvo and saw the Clansman on anchor. Beautiful part of the world!

We would've loved to have met you! Yes it was stunning down there. We're back in Busselton now, sailed back yesterday on the easterlies. We thought we'd better make a run for it. We will plan a down south catch up soon for patrons if you're interested?

What a coincidence. I have owned my first drone for about three weeks and was pondering flying it off the yacht, but just a tad concerned with catching it on the return .. problem solved after watching your latest video. I’ll give it a go with a touch less trepidation.

Practice over land first and remember to have it constantly updating the homepoint to your controller. Good luck!

I'm always amazed at how entertaining it is to learn something totally irrelevant to me. and only because it is presented in such a pleasant way

I love your huckster teaser writeup for this video. I'm interested in drones, but have yet to pull the trigger on one. Your addition looked like a great solution. I'll certainly revisit this if ever get one....

To be honest, it took us some time to get a drone ourselves and still regard it with mixed feelings. We almost never fly it when we can see people, just for how intrusive we find them but the images they capture are matchless any other way. We do feel that drone has improved the feel of our films.

I bought a landing attachment for my drone that uses two foam rods for water landings (should that happen).

Oh my goodness! That might prove to be a bit nerve wracking in ocean conditions but now I have to go find it out of curiousity.

Great idea, I think the guys on SV Delos played with a piece of wooden dowel mounted vertically underneath, much like your grab handle. It seemed to work well to catch it, but there was a small weight penalty.

Yes, some friends were experimenting with similar but as you say, it might be heavier and Mirrool has a much greater stock of rope than dowel and plenty of sewing thread!
