Live Chat this Saturday/Sunday
We're very excited to announce we'll be hosting a live chat on our YouTube channel this Sunday at 8am (UTC + 10hours).
Let us know in advance if you have any questions you want us to answer live this weekend to get the ball rolling.
For our European patrons we hope 11pm/midnight is ok for you, it is a Saturday night after all!
We look forward to chatting with you then!
Much love Troy and Pascale

8am EST in Australia
Sometime between 1 and 3 pm Sat. as near as I can figure from some of the other times stated. I have a question on your maintenance & cleaning, do you have a regular day you try to do it or just when you think it's time for it. I will be hitting the water later this year with my boat and am trying to figure out when I should be taking care of things like that. I will start off in great shape after a year on the hard with everything up to date....oil, filters, belts, lubricants, paint, lines etc... and I would like to keep her in the best shape I can. I did that with my truck and she has given me a worry free life of over 156,000 miles so far. I keep a spreadsheet of what has been done and when, which I also plan on doing on the boat and I will also put it in my Daily Log too. I really enjoy your channel.
Thanks Orville. We'll cover that.
I also have some questions inspired by the Captains Log that I hope you might consider answering during the live chat : During your trip up the west coast, did you consider a visit to any of the outer islands and reefs like Rowley Shoals, Scott Reef, and the Ashmore and Cartier Islands ? If so what factors influenced your decision not to ? For your transit of the Horisontal Waterfalls, you quote tide adjustments to the Yampi Sound tide predictions. Would this change dependent on Spring or Neap tide ? Are there any traditional land owner permissions required for going ashore in the Kimberlies ? You made no mention of pearl farms during your trip through the Kimberlies. Did you encounter any and were they a problem/hazard at all ? Thanks.
There's some good questions there Greg. We'll address them on Sunday for you.
Yep, I reckon that will be a great way for me to spend a Sunday morning. See you then.
Hey Troy and Pascale, I have a question for the live chat : Did either of you sail or spend a lot of time on the water as children? Do you have any particular backstory about how you came to choose your adventure? cheers!
Thanks heaps for such a comprehensive reply! We have put an offer in on a 37’ SV with no BBQ so we will be in the market for one soon! Cheers for the tips on smoking, I’ll get hold of some brikettes + I’ll be sure to watch your live chat A sap! 😎
Hey T&P! Spewing that I won’t be able to make your live chat coz I’ll be on nightshift. 😴 I wonder if you could make mention of the type of BBQ you have on the back of the boat, and your method of smoking.. I’m trying but it’s not working out very well.. I’m using our Weber gas bbq at home, too hot not enough smoke? Trying to rewatch all videos in case I missed something but works getting in my way!😡
Hi Liam - Sorry you can't make the Live Chat! We use a Magma BBQ with heat beads (also known as charcoal briquettes). We don't use any gas! To smoke with the Magma you light 3 - 5 heat beads, burn them until they are beige and then place wet woodchips on top of them, put the meat on the grill and close the lid. To smoke with a gas barbeque you're best off placing a disposable alfoil tray containing woodchips on top of the BBQ Grill, lighting the BBQ, waiting until the woodchips are smoking, then once smoking, placing your meat on a wrack over the smoking chips (but not too close) and shut the lid. We used a method similar to this when we smoked bacon off the boat using a camp stove in Weipa (Episode 32), if you re-watch that it might help to demonstrate what we mean. Thanks for this btw, we'll still bring it up in the live chat in case other people are experiencing the same problem! Cheers Pascale and Troy
I'll probably be asleep by then, and if not then my Wife would be, so in the confines of a Hotel room it could be difficult! No worries those, I'll watch you on catch up. Sat here on my hotel balcony overlooking the yachts bobbing about on the Attersee.
The time will be 2200 UTC, so that sounds like midnight in Austria with those corrections. If you're not a night owl, the show will be available to view afterward. I guess the benefit of live chats is that you can post questions for us but as our patron, you can do that now and we'll answer it for you live on Sunday.
UTC = GMT, +1 for British Summer Time and + another because I am in Austria on Holiday. I make that 8+12 =20:00? Mind either of Your Brains is bigger than mine, and I've been driving up and back from Glacier since 20 Hours ago!
I hope it will be available for watching later for those of us who will miss the live feed.
Absolutely Curt.
Looking forward to it at 2:00pm in Nashville, Tennessee, US! 👍
That's a really lovely photo of you two. I'll try to be up at 0600 Sunday.
Thanks Paul. Hope you can join us on Sunday. We'll be back in Perth at some point to see family and we'll make sure we have a Patreon catch up when we do!
Lol, it literally just took me 15 min to figure out what time/day it is happening. 4pm Saturday in Boise, Idaho, U.S. No wonder I used to get it wrong half the time and call my uncle in Hobart at 3am. That's a calculation your going to get wrong always after drinking. He was always nice about it though!
Yay, well done. It's hard for us to try to figure a time where we get everyone in the waking hours on the weekend. You scored with 4pm on Saturday afternoon Steve!
Love Your Journey! Now I am inspired to start my Patreon journey as a grandparent with our family! TY so much... your videos are life giving! ;-) Be Blessed AGain! Will try to be on Sunday!
Thanks Brent that's great to hear. Hope you catch you Sunday.
