The seas are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promised to keep and miles to go before I sleep. Apologies to Robert Frost.
You guys are really living the dream! It's a pleasure to support the channel & can't wait to see what kinds of tasty wild food you find when you head down the barrier reef :)
Thanks so much Tris your support means the world to us. We ate the usual fare on our way down tuna, oysters, queenfish coral trout and Spanish mackerel but Troy also introduced me to long bums (Aussie bush tucker equivalent of escargot!) Weird looking but quite tasty...
Missed you live, but loved watching this after the fact! You mentioned one of your dreams down the road would be cruising BC and Alaska. Do it!!! I've been, and it is home to some of the most beautiful wilderness I've ever seen. Fishing Alaska is amazing! Have not sailed it, but cruising up there would be awesome! My dad and I fished out of Pelican (northwestern part of Chichagof Island). Mostly fished for Salmon and Halibut, but also ran into a lot of rock fish. Pascale won't have to worry about sweating up there as much ;)
Oh wow sounds so amazing. We cannot wait to see it! Where are you based now Scott?
Just catching up with this. Hope i catch you live next time.
Really enjoyed last night's live! Fair winds from New Port Richey, FL (on the coast, just north of Tampa)
Just got see your live podcast or what ever it's call these days! Bloody good guys! I was out on my own vessel with the expressed intent that my lady wife would join me which she did..... Seems I've got a unpaid crew member providing there's no sharks! ....... Not likely in the English Channel this time of year! Before returning to retire back in Blighty I lived 20 yrs in B.C. and sail some of the coastline there...... I can only highly recommend it . There is so so much to see and fish... 60 lbs salmon to 1000lbs Halibut...... that's not a typo Troy. I know you don't get to watch other sailing vblogs but I recommend https://www.youtube.com/user/bcsailor2003
That's going to be tricky getting a Halibut in the fridge! Cheers for the link. We really have our hearts set on seeing that part of the world. Nice work press ganging a new crew, always makes the experience better when shared.
You have a room with us in Fort Myers, Florida any time. We would love for you to see the wild everglades on Florida West Coast. One of our favorite areas for wild anchoring and bird watching. Isabelle, my wife, paints animals. You can see her work at isabelledutoit.net if you want. Btw, she is wondering how your cocpit hose washdown was made? Ie Did you use a seacock with pump or other method? The Dry Tortugas is our absolute favorite destination about 70 miles from key west and a marin park. They have beautiful protected Goliath groupers that are 6 ft and 400 lbs! Diving is amazing here too. Limited fishing in one mik radius is allowed for certain species depending on the season. May and Jun before hurricane season is our preferred time to sail there. Warm enough to swim and most visitors have gone back north.
I didn't see enough of Florida before, it really does have a lot to offer - not least warm hospitality.
Thanks to everyone above for letting us know how broad an audience we are getting. Absolutely amazing to be able to share our adventure with you great people.
You've sold me! As soon as I saw that you had planned to visit Tasmania I decided to pledge toward your videos. it's no movie deal but I hope it adds in a small way for you to continue with your style of video making. Ill look forward to seeing you in this part of the world!!
Thanks Raz. We've heard so many good things about the east coast of Tassie and can't wait to check it out and meet some good people down there.
Just watched after work, loved it! I'm checking in from Boise, Idaho by the way, so deep in the Rocky mountains. Love it here, but wish we were closer to an ocean. I've been on fishing trips to BC and Mexico and sailing trips in the BVI's. It's just lake sailing here, but I do have the consolation prize of great fishing and hunting and lots of wilderness...you just can't sail there.
Sounds like paradise all the same. We have to get into some of the wild places over that side and meet the people there. I reckon we'd fit right in.
First time Patron contributor because love your concept and the way your putting it out there keeping it real. I'm a sailor here in NZ and finding not just your sailing / fishing intresting but adding the bushcraft and indigenous art and people adds that extra dimension. Keep up the good work:)
Thanks Kyle - we hope to grace your shores in the not too distant future!
Hey guys really enjoy watching you guys on YouTube so I've just become a patron to support what you guys are doing
Thanks Peter so grateful for you jumping on board to support us!
My partner and I loved the live chat and if you need a place to stay on your way through Sydney we have an airbnb that you can make use of (for free). We can pick you up from the Hawkesbury. I am a law student who would rather be sailing.
Wow amazing! We look forward to meeting you Amanda, that is such a generous offer! We're hoping to be in Sydney towards the end of the year, we'll keep you posted.
