Provisioning in Weipa - Ep 32

After a bit of a mad rush in Torres Strait and lots of other commitments we're happy to announce we've just published our 32nd episode on YouTube. Lots of great information on this one from boat provisioning on a budget to knot tying, hose coiling and bacon making.

We hope you enjoy!

Wow that's a very generous offer, thank you. Perhaps we might discuss something in the future- we would love to make a knowledge base for cruisers.

Good information now the strings on my venetian blinds have been hitched up to triple purchase strengths --will see if I can remember how to do it out in the real world.

Thanks for a good video full of good information. With the Coopers kits best to get the temp down to low 20s and pitch the yeast on a raise in temp. Yeast hate cooling down. A 30L fermenter will give you good head space and you could even brew while sailing. Love the way you store you provisions and thanks for the tip with the cardboard. cheers.

Thanks Richard - for my latest brew here in Thursday Island I chilled the fermenter in the sink with ice and got the wort down to 24 degrees before pitching the yeast which worked much better. Unfortunately we don't have the space for a 15L fermenter but we are thinking of converting our blue adventure tub! We are having problems with carbonation of a brews perhaps you have an idea what might be the problem? We are back sugaring and bottling into PET bottles using Coopers glucose drops. We're not sure what is stopping the bottles from carbonating, we think it is either the temperature, the plastic bottles, an exhausted yeast or a combination of 2 or all 3. Any thoughts from your end?

After looking over all the views ALL your thumbnails should feature Pascale. No harm in that, not clickbait as she is in them all and it's from the episode. Your just not that popular Troy lol.

My legs are my best feature.

Total madness! We are still at a loss. Other titles have had nude in them and yes they did get more views but 2.2M?

S
Steve Phipps · April 16, 2018

While I can claim to have expected your success...I wasn't expecting you to go viral! 2.2M views is pretty crazy! I guess Pascale is just gonna have to get used to skimpy outfits and wardrobe malfunctions! (Just kidding..mostly)

Liked it all but especially the map segment at the beginning. You’d be surprised how small bits mean a lot to us land lubbers. Been trying to make guesses where you are exactly using Google Earth and it’s not been easy for this old man.

We just got a great map program and will keep you all informed where we are each video from now on. Also great to walk through future passage planning with everyone here on Patreon.

I'm more interested in P's Bikini Bib in the kitchen How hot is she. Hanging loose - I originally thought it was some kind of safety gear fashion in the Galley Forget provisioning that's a serious Safety Bikini Bib (p.s. The Provisioning story is excellent well done P. bird Sh..it and all) XX Pete

We had a similar bird experience at the Des Moines Marina here in Puget Sound last fall, but it had been eating blackberries. Tried a few cleaners before discovering Clorox Kitchen and Bath cleaner would remove the stains.

T

Thanks for the heads up David! Blackberry eating sea birds may be a pest as we head further south!
