Mirrool gets her dodger
Sailing south down the Western Australian coast is a tough slog, especially solo. The canvas dodger that was on Mirrool at the time was an early victim to some of the large seas I encountered and added to the hardships. When the yacht was laid up in Rockingham, one of the priorities was to build a good hard dodger. We chose stick and glue construction. Here she is with the base assembled before the first sheet of glass and resin went on. Note we were careful to try and follow her existing lines and not go too high. Aesthetics on ships is overlooked sometimes and it is always a sad sight to see an ugly boat.

The hard dodger was one of the first things I noticed about your boat. I love the whole Idea and am letting that idea soak as I work my way up on my 25 O’day.
What did you do fornthe windows?
They are of scratch resistant acrylic. There are harder materials but I find acrylic easier to restore with super fine wet and dry and then polishing compound. They've done very well the last few thousand miles. We have a window squeegee onboard too which we use along with a fresh water sprayer to remove salt before it can act as an abrasive.
