[Volume 2 Prologue] When I confessed to the girl I liked, her twin sister came along as a bonus
Prologue
School is a surprisingly low-density place.
At least at the high school I attend, finding an empty spot isn’t difficult.
Even though the declining birthrate is relentless, our school still has about six hundred students. Apparently, there used to be far more. Thanks to that, there are plenty of unused classrooms, and if you’re so inclined, it’s easy to be alone—or to be alone with someone else.
“So, what’s this room supposed to be, anyway?”
“How would I know?”
“You’re the one who found it, Yuzuki!”
I’m Maki Nakaba, and my girlfriend is Tsubasa Yuzuki.
This is a small room tucked away in a corner of the third floor of the new school building. The new building has a few special classrooms, meeting rooms, and cultural club rooms, but it’s mostly empty spaces. I rarely come here except for the occasional special class.
“But, like, we got official permission from the school to use it, so…”
“Is our school really that chill about letting students use empty classrooms…?”
Yuzuki is a bright, beautiful gyaru, one of the most influential students around. Long brown hair, bat-shaped hairpins, and matching earrings.
Even in summer, she wears a long-sleeved blouse, slightly rolled up, with an elegant wristwatch on her left wrist. Her checkered skirt is notably short. Her face is undeniably stunning, the kind of beauty anyone would rank as top-tier.
Her bust measures a staggering 90 centimeters, a G-cup, yet her waist is strikingly slim. She’s not only a model-worthy beauty with a figure that outshines gravure idols—she’s also the daughter of a wealthy family, living elegantly in a high-rise condo away from her parents.
Looks aside, the school might be giving Yuzuki’s family some mysterious special treatment…
Anyway, we’re in a room about a third the size of a regular classroom. Cardboard boxes are stacked along the walls, and dusty shelves filled with old documents line the space. Maybe it was used by some cultural club or committee in the past.
“Who cares about that stuff, anyway?”
“Whoa!”
We’re leaning against the cardboard boxes, sitting on the floor—
And Yuzuki plants a quick chu kiss on me.
I’m used to kissing her by now, but a sudden one still catches me off guard. When a breathtaking beauty like her gets that close, it’s impossible not to be startled.
“Mmm…♡ Phew, lunch break’s short, so we gotta get to the lovey-dovey stuff quick!”
“You’re putting a speed requirement on making out?”
It’s lunch break, and we’ve just finished eating. The bento was homemade by Yuzuki and company—pure bliss for someone like me who’s been surviving on cafeteria bread. A delicious meal and kissing a beauty like Yuzuki? Unreal.
“Mmm, chu… mmm…!”
Yuzuki smirks and kisses me again, multiple times. She licks my lips, slipping her tongue into tangle with mine.
“Mmm… ha ♡ So, how’s it feel? Kissing at school’s got a different vibe, right?”
“Y-Yeah, I guess…”
Even if it’s an empty room, there’s no guarantee someone won’t barge in. It’s thrilling in more ways than one.
“Not like I care if someone sees us. We already told everyone we’re dating.”
“…Right.”
Just the other day, Yuzuki announced our relationship to everyone. It’s been a few days, but the ripples haven’t died down. She’s the school’s top beauty, so of course her getting a boyfriend would cause a stir.
And then—
“Sorry to keep you waiting. Oh, you two are getting all cozy again, huh?”
“Whoa! F-Fuuka…”
The door slides open abruptly, and my heart nearly jumps out of my chest. Yuzuki was still happily kissing me, after all.
Tsubasa Fuuka is Yuzuki’s twin sister. Their faces are identical, and their figures are similar down to the millimeter.
But Fuuka has neat, long black hair. Unlike Yuzuki, her outfit is more subdued: a beige school vest, white blouse, and a checkered miniskirt. She used to attend a nearby all-girls school and only recently transferred here. At first, she wore her old uniform, but now she’s in our school’s.
“S-Sorry, Fuuka. We didn’t wait for you—”
“It’s fine,” Fuuka says with a smile, plopping down beside us.
Being alone is easy. Being with one other person is easy. And, of course, being with two other people is just as easy.
There’s another reason our relationship is causing waves at school.
I’m dating both Yuzuki and Fuuka, the twin beauties, at the same time.
“As you know, I’m just the ‘bonus,’” Fuuka says.
“…Why do you sound so happy about that, Fuuka?”
Being called a “bonus” isn’t exactly flattering. The circumstances that led to Fuuka being the “bonus” are beyond normal comprehension.
Not long ago, I confessed to Yuzuki, my longtime crush and classmate. Her response? “I’ll say yes if you date my twin sister, too.” A wildly unconventional reply. Fuuka, the twin in question, accepted being treated as the “bonus” like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Of course, I don’t think of Fuuka as a bonus. I’m sure Yuzuki doesn’t, either. Still, to an outsider, the flashy Yuzuki might seem like the “main” one, with Fuuka as the “bonus.” The Tsubasa sisters are opposites: one a vibrant gyaru, the other a refined, elegant type. But anyone who thinks Fuuka’s just a bonus lacks discernment.
Her face is indistinguishable from Yuzuki’s—she’s an extraordinary beauty in her own right, far too lovely to be called a “bonus.”
“I already ate lunch with some friends,” Fuuka says.
“Oh, right. You’re still new here, Fuuka.”
She’s probably in the phase of making new friends. Unlike her sister, who has a ton of friends, the quieter Fuuka seems surprisingly good at socializing, too.
“But Maki-san is my top priority,” she adds.
“…”
Chu. Fuuka kisses me casually. It’s just a light peck, but a kiss from a beauty like her, with her face so close, is intense.
“Can I… kiss you a bit more?”
“Hey, hold on. I was in the middle of enjoying myself. You’re late, so let your big sister have her turn,” Yuzuki protests.
“Ehh… but if you were having fun until I got here, isn’t it my turn now?”
“…”
Is dating twins problem-free? If asked, I’d have to say, “No way it’s problem-free.”
Our relationship is probably known to every student in the school. Yuzuki and Fuuka announced it themselves, and though I was shocked, I went along with it. Yuzuki is a school celebrity, and Fuuka, the new transfer student, has already made a name for herself. The news that Maki Nakaba is dating both twin beauties? No way that doesn’t spread. High schoolers, now and always, eat up this kind of gossip.
“Haa…”
“Eek!”
“Yah!”
I pull both Yuzuki and Fuuka close by their shoulders, and they let out adorable squeals.
“If someone saw us like this, it’d only make the rumors worse.”
“Who cares? It’s true we’re dating,” Yuzuki says.
“It’s the truth, so let’s make even more noise,” Fuuka adds.
“…”
The twins don’t seem to care about the school gossip. It’s not like our relationship was accidentally exposed—they chose to announce it, so it makes sense.
“Well, yeah. I’ll own it, too.”
“Haha, that’s the spirit, Maki! That’s why I like you!” Yuzuki says.
“Exactly. That’s why you’re great, Maki-san,” Fuuka echoes.
Yuzuki snuggles up to my right arm, Fuuka to my left. With my tough-guy face, it probably looks like some gang boss flanked by beauties. But I have no regrets about dating these twins—
