ignoring my problem projects (but now this one has problems too)
I’m still not sure how this took me as long to edit as it did, but I guess that is the theme for this week. This is part two of the extended cut of this project! Part one can be found in this post –part three will come whenever I get around to making the skirt!
This installment focuses on the sleeves...and sleeves always suck, but these were extra bad, and it was my fault.
Just goes to show that sometimes the road that looks easier ends up being harder in the long run.
Now, a note for patrons of various tiers!
$10 patrons will be credited in the youtube cut of this when it goes live. There will also be a pattern for the bodice coming before the long weekend is done, including the ill-advised sleeves if anyone is feeling brave, lol.
$16 patrons – technically the rewards I should have mailed this month are from 18 months ago and address information is updated at the time of billing. I’m assuming not a lot of new people have signed up for that in my absence, so I will cross-reference the docs when I have access to them and ship to the most recent address of anyone who is still active.
I am not going to let myself get behind on mailable rewards (again) and if I can’t keep up then I will remove the tier as an option and focus on digital content instead because the anxiety of that towards the end was…bad.
The $36 tier has been removed because I know I can’t keep up with that and that isn’t fair.
I have to organize the many bins related to that tier in my basement and reach out to people privately for that. The executive dysfunctioning I had towards the responsibilities associated with that were just…indescribably dumb. I have months worth fully packaged with shipping labels that I paid for and let expire instead of driving to the post office.

As for next month, I’m hoping to revisit the Bridgerton dress because that has been a plan for so long I want to prove to myself I can finish it even if I'm basically starting over, lol.
I would also like to start thinking about Halloween/October projects, because those were ALWAYS my favorite, and the fact I missed two years of them already makes me so sad.
In a perfect world, that would result in me making three years, but at this point, I would be happy with finishing one.
So maybe there will be a trip through the fabric stash and planning vlog, if not actual progress. Compared to how much I got done last year, even that much is progress, lol.
Anyway, thanks so much for watching and for the support!

Honestly this is just lovely. Glad I'm not the only one who gets confused halfway through or finding out that details I thought I'd love I just don't. You do beautiful work, and have such interesting patterns and I love you see the changes because it's so helpful to remember that if it looks strange, it's probably working lol
I like the sleeves. They are so poofy. But I know sewing is hard and we don't always love what we makes. So, hug.
Thank you so much I was able to listen to and read everything this time.it is very impressive how much you do designing out of the blue I look forward to many more episodes.
I can't wait to have enough time to my self to watch this video.
Your perseverance and problem solving through these sleeves is amazing. Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve returned to sewing after many MANY years away and sometimes can’t work my way out of a difficult spot. Watching your thought process and explanation has been very helpful! Also, I’m a big fan of the puppy cameos! Thank you, again!
They turned out so pretty! I, however feel like I’m the queen of atrocious sleeve installation! I just don’t get it…….. I adore your honesty about your process. You are incredibly relatable for me in soooooo many ways! It’s like Christmas having 2 new vids this week!! x
For embellishments, I might suggest leaving the bodice as is and instead embellishing a waistband (if that fits into your vision of the skirt). Maybe mimicking the band of sequins on the sleeve? But made wider and more elaborate with sequined alençon appliqués that you could embellish further with pearls?
I am in awe of your talent to imagine an outfit and then problem solve to make it happen. That takes intelligence and determination! Am thinking that the bodice still needs embellishments that won’t take away from the lovely shell forms. So lovely to have you back! Sending best wishes from Down Under 🥰💐🇦🇺
Your honest frustration with the inbetween steps makes me feel better with my own emotions there. I hate getting on a roll and having to stop to do the slow stuff like trimming or finishing seams. Also the puppy cameos and their impromtu song were lovely. I cant have pets currently and live vicariously through the moments other people share. Thanks so much for posting! For the bodice, you are right, the shaping youve made really are the star of the show. If you do want embellishment, possibly focus directly on the neckline, avoiding going too low down the bodice. Maybe a line of the pearls stiched just on that very edge of the neckline?
I love The Art of Manipulating Fabric! 🌈🌈🦋🦋
