A New Direction for My Mods: Moving to a Public Release Model
Hi everyone,
As many of you have seen, the modding community—and specifically Luke Ross—has recently been hit with significant DMCA challenges from publishers. Seeing the immense effort it takes to build these VR experiences only to face legal harassment is disheartening, especially since these mods often drive sales by giving players a reason to buy the original games.
While modding is my hobby rather than my full-time job, I am not ready to deal with that kind of pressure from publishers. Up until now, I haven’t had issues, but I’m not sure if that’s due to my smaller profile or specific publisher policies. To ensure the safety of my work and this community, I have decided to make all my mods public(I need some time to clean up before releasing).
What this means for you:
Voluntary Support: If you appreciate my work, you are still welcome to support me. Any contributions will now be completely voluntary.
Current Projects: I am committed to finishing the projects I’ve started, specifically the VR mods for A Plague Tale: Innocence and Requiem.
Continued Development: I’m not stopping! I will keep modding and bringing new experiences to the community.
Contributions Welcome: I welcome any technical contributions or feedback from the community to help make these mods even better.
I truly appreciate the support you’ve shown me so far. It means a lot, and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with you all in a more open way.

starfield vr for starfield update
Right eye stutters and shakes when moving head while left eye does not for starfield latest file.. not sure why?
Steam or gamepass?
Is there an update to starfield since last year?
still waiting on AC Origins to get a vr mod. now that black flag resynced's been announced too, might as well do both
Can you help me to understand the release version differences of the releases here and at your github page? The AC Mods available here at patreon still do have a lower number release version as it is at your github page https://github.com/mutars/anvilengine2vr/releases Do i have to update the mods from your github page in future to receive the latest version of the AC Mods?
Before the were in multiple git repos all ac games not grouped in one other than that no major differences
I would love to adapt your VRFramework source to the Saints Row games. Plenty of coding experience, not much on hooking, any guidance/direction on getting attached to the game and an image in my Quest 2 headset? Appreciate all your work, thanks for sharing it with us!
Framework hooking via proxy to dxgi, you don’t need to invent anything or you can inject dll with cheat engine
That is the way.
Got the Starfield mod working. The trick is OneDrive sync must be disabled. Later all.
OK I joined up I hope this helps, thanks for all your work.
Starfield is still locked and a year since last update. New content us now being released. I'd gladly pay but will you still support Starfield?
It’s not locked, if you join as free tier you will see pinned post and in it github links
How do we find a list of all your mods? I just finished Alan Wake 2 - chefs kiss, what an experience. Great job.
Check pinned post
you should consider doing like luke ross with a 3 to 6 months early acess for supporters, i mean for upcoming mods, it would be better imho.
yeah. The only reason Luke Ross was DMCA anyway is because he brought a lot of attention to himself. I agree that I think Mutar is fine with a premium early access for even 6 months because it takes 3 DMCA to get banned from Patreon so you're safe anyway.
The mod for Alan Wake 2 is still behind a paywall, any way to add it to the github
Does Starfield still work? Is it still available if I subscribe?
im not gonna stop commenting until you work on origins. ive been waiting for the better part of a decade to climb pyramids and grave rob in first person
i'll try the mod, if it works i'll sub, until i'll keep playing the modded games
could you please upload God of War games to Github? thank you for your amazing work
I personaly will pay for your work even that it will be free with a donation. Thanks friend.
Yes all these mods are still locked behind a paywall
If you join for free you will see pinned post https://www.patreon.com/posts/my-mods-125554096 if you press ctrl+f and look gor github you will find currently available mods on github, I don't to be rune but for free stuff I take to much time to explain how to downlaod it.
Real vr fans will still support you, just keep rolling
Looking forward to trying these... but just FYI many people still see the paywall when trying to access them. Only the Github links lead to a downloadable file. The Patreon link are all paywalled. I have tried two different Patreon accounts, I've cancelled my membership to NoMoreFlat and restarted it and it's all still paywalled.
Is it paywalled eve if you join free tier?
i'll support you, thanks
I had seen a headline that made it sound like you were just rage quitting. I'm glad that's not true. I'll still support you for you past and future work. (Have you considered talking to Flat2VR Studios? I'm sure it's already been suggested, though. (nevermind. I should read more.))
Check again, you probably read something about Luke Ross. This is Mutar's patreon, and I doubt that there was ever any impression/suggestion that Mutar was "rage quiting" or similar.
Thanks, I will still support you.
Just tried your mods for the first time and I am blown alway how good they run, great work!
Your Alan wake 2 mod alone is worth the Continued support, glad to be doing it.
Dead Space coming?
That would be wonderful
Thank you so much for your incredible work. You are doing something truly amazing, work that many large studios are unwilling to do, whether out of laziness or lack of interest. Like Luke Ross, you allow us to experience games in a completely new way and to feel something truly special.
so when are you doing assassins creed origins? because climbing the pyramids in vr and walking the halls of the alexandrian library are things that NEED to exist, that SHOULD exist.
Joined to support you. Fuck CD Project.
And love Rebel Wolves.
I just joined early access tier to support you.
Top!
I'll still support :), Lovin the Alan Wake 2 mod.
I'll keep supporting u too. You made right move
your latest update, 2.0.0, public update, has more performance issues than the last update, 1.3.2. A lot of stutters, even at medium graphics with a rtx 4090 card. I had to go back to 1.3.2.
Starfield? It has created new config file, you probably need to set it again, try disabling async aer, other than that it has to have same performance
Do you have a PayPal that I can contribute?
I do have paypal, but all this income is taxable so I can’t use it
I have been financially supporting Luke Ross non stop for like 3 years. Still, reading his last messages is just pure cringe. He should touch the grass and move on. His mods were paywalled and in my opinion CDPR response was indeed reasonable. PS. I subscribed here purely because I want to support NoMoreFlat and like the idea going to GitHub. Keep up with with approach, big respect.
I'm the kind of person who buys every game that has a VR mod. Luke isn't hurting anyone, quite the contrary! No one has to buy his mod, but I'm glad I have the option. I really don't understand this attitude.
Just checked out your GitHub. Love the fact you're making the source code public, this should help others on the journey to making VR mods too. I appreciate the route you have chosen here 👍
Thank you man, your work is greatly appreciated 👏
Happy to continue my patron payments
I haven't used any of your mods or haven't heard of you before to be honest, but I really admire your stance. In my opinion you did the right thing. Kudos to you, thank you for your work and your trust to the gamers and the gaming community.
Incredible, thank you
Thank you.
pin the link for support
🙏🔥
I will carry on supporting as long as you stay active mate 👍
Great move Mutar 8)
Just came here to vote with my wallet. I do not have plans to play any of the supported games right now, but I want to support vr modders so they can spend more time on their craft and release mods for everyone to enjoy. I don't know for how long i can support with 3 usd, but I'd definitely support with a smaller amount if the options becomes available (don't know if it's viable for you), but for now have a coffee on me and keep doing what you're doing.
This was the right move. Let those who appreciate your work donate.
TBO will be 0 difference for me ) If you mod game i like i pay sub. Good luck!
Publicity is better than cash, get you name out there, get free kickbacks p.s. I have never heard of you
It’s ridiculous what’s happening. 100% I’ll keep paid support!
This decision is a credit to you. Thank you so much for your work and thank you for continuing. We need you to be able to enjoy great AAA games in VR. Of course, I will make donations.
Same, will always support, should we stay with Patreon ?
I'll always support you even if they are free.
Happy to keep supporting you!
I'll be there to support you. Many publishers are obsessed with money, to the point of sabotaging community projects simply because they don't add a few extra coins to their funding returns (while they rake in hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars, from the sale of these games). It's all the more disheartening because many development studios started by creating mods for games, and these same publishers then went on to fund them…
I'll keep the patreon !!! I like the idea of the MODs being available for everyone, but that's not a warranty agains DMCA C&D, Rockstar did it with free mods.
Thank You for Your amazing work & decision to make it free is good in new situation, but my subscription will stay, because this is a way to say at least small Thank You :)
You will continue to have my full support, just as you have until now. Thank you so much for your past work and for everything that's to come!
Thanks for your work. I hope you continue.
You will have always my support!
Thanks for all the work, Mutar! It’s great that more people can enjoy your mods now, even though I know it’s a big time commitment and a pay cut. I really liked the model you and Luke had—it felt fair and respected the effort. Hope to see more cool mods in the future, even if they come out a bit slower. I will continue to support you when I use one of your mods.
Will continue to support as long as I can love you man stay strong
I will continue to support you regardless .. much love and support to you and your work
that's a very smart move, and you can count on me for keeping supporting you in the long run, that wont change. cheers !!! and thank you for making all those wonderful VR mods, you have my support.
Still count on my support. But this still sucks....I was hoping you'd grow into fully doing this full time everyday and make it full time like Luke. Regardless good luck. Let's see if all the assholes now come out and donate.
Thanks for your work Mutar! I'm glad that more people will be able to enjoy your mods, but I know this is a huge time commitment that is now taking a pay cut. I liked the model that Luke and you were using, as it ensured users respected the effort put into the mods. Hope to still see more great mods even if releases are less frequent in the future!
can I ask a 'selfish' qn - the premise for a DEAD SPACE VR mod it needs to be free - does that mean that its back on the table? that would be a dream !!!!!!!!
you have my full support. nothing changes for me.
Thanks for the update and continuing to make these mods, even under the free/public model.
I have no problem paying for VR mods. I want MORE games to be available in VR, so I will keep supporting VR modders.
Appreciate all your hard work. This is a sad time for the VR community, Ive been with Luke since the early days of RDR2 and his work has been incredible. I found you last year after hearing about the AC mods and they have brought me many hours of joy as this is the series i always wanted to experience in VR. I hope one day you will find time for Origins. Modders should be praised not punished as VR would be much worse off today without them so Thank You again <3
Makes sense. I do think there are levels to this though. $10 a month paywall is much different that a "pay what you want" type thing like you have here. The safe bet of course is free with donations however for sure.
Wow, I'm so sorry. Both you and Luke do so much for the community, and for video game companies (even if they don't know it, or don't want to see it). I just finished writing a post on Luke's Patreon. This seems like a witch hunt against "modders." As I mentioned in Luke's post, I don't like to call what you do "mods." I gave him the example that I don't see you changing Indiana Jones' whip to a flamethrower, haha. What you do is expand the possibilities of playing the SAME game. There are no modifications. And yes, it's possible that because of your low profile, they haven't gone after you yet. I'm not sure if all this that's happening (my opinion) is because video game companies have suddenly decided to attack, or because Mark Zuckerberg has decided to close four of the best VR studios, or if there's simply some troll or hater around here who's declared war on us. In any case, you have my full support. I'll make donations to both Luke (he hasn't decided what he's going to do yet) and you. Big hug.
Oh! I forgot to tell you. I only buy PC games if they can be played in VR. Your mods for both God of War games are amazing! I've spent hours and hours playing them. Cheers!
Thank you your work is greatly appreciated...
Makes sense I wish you luck
