I’ve been sitting on this one while I kept building, rebuilding, breaking it, fixing it, and adding more stuff because I wanted Group Travel to actually feel like planning a trip with people.

Jayes Group Travel officially enters Beta and Early Access on September 20.

This is also the first expansion of Jaye Honeymoon Travel. Honeymoon Travel gave couples somewhere to go after the wedding. Group Travel takes that idea and opens it up for everybody else. Friends trips, birthdays, family vacations, couples trips, reunions, spring break, bachelor and bachelorette trips, graduations, work trips, or whatever reason your Sims decide they need to get out of town.

You start by naming the trip and choosing the organizer. Then you decide how big the group can be, which ages can attend, and who actually gets invited. After that, you’re planning the trip for real.

The September 20 beta currently includes:

• Real-world travel destinations with a custom destination option

• Different hotels and properties depending on where your Sims are going

• Day trips, overnight trips, weekends, longer vacations and full-week trips

• Scheduled travel days

• Multiple airlines with their own flight schedules

• Different flight times depending on the airline and travel day

• Available, limited and sold-out flights

• Fares that change based on the flight, timing, demand and group

• Different cabin choices

• Baggage, seat selection, airport transfers, trip protection, lounge access and other extras

• Travel packages

• Trip occasions and different trip vibes

• Group budgets

• Different ways to split the bill

• Required deposits and payment deadlines

• Individual traveler balances

• Trip rules

• Activity planning

• Traveler tickets and confirmation information

• Group chat

• Traveler replies and requests

• Room and roommate planning

• Plus-one requests

• Children and family travel rules

• Cancellations, refunds and trip changes

• Full trip overview before everything is finalized

The group chat is one of the parts I’ve had the most fun working on because everybody in the group doesn’t have to act the same. Sims can respond to plans, complain about money, ask for different arrangements, make requests and affect how smoothly everything is going before anybody even leaves. Your group can also run into real planning problems. Somebody can owe money. A flight can fill up. Somebody can back out. The hotel needs enough room for everybody. The organizer may have to change plans. Payments and refunds have to actually make sense. I wanted the planning part to be gameplay too.

September 20 is BETA and EARLY ACCESS. I’ve done a ridiculous amount of testing on the files and the systems behind them, but this is a large mod with a lot of moving pieces. Beta gives me a chance to get it into your games, see how it behaves with real saves and different mod setups, and catch anything that only shows itself once hundreds of people start using it.

If you grab the beta, please actually test it. Change flights. Cancel somebody. Add people. Make people pay. Try a sold-out flight. Change rooms. Use the chat. Save and reload. Try to break the damn thing.
