Hey family,
This one… is different.
This one is tender.
This one is real.
We’re continuing our mod series rooted in empathy, realism, and storytelling:
JayESims x Jaye Hinson Presents: DIAGNOSED — The Chapters: Seasonal Depression
Our last chapters, Congestive Heart Failure and PTSD hit home in ways we couldn’t even imagine.
The comments, DMs, personal shares… they reminded us why this project matters.
Today, we open the next door in this series:
Seasonal Depression.
The kind of quiet sadness that creeps in when the light fades.
The kind of numb that doesn’t look dramatic but feels like everything’s heavy.
The kind of real that so many of us are too used to navigating alone.
🌫️ What Is Seasonal Depression?
Also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), this form of depression shows up with the seasons.
For many, it hits hardest in the fall and winter.
Darkness lingers longer. Motivation slips. Emotions flatten.
And the world just feels… distant.
This trait was created with honesty in mind. With humanity at its core.
Because not every Sim story is about chaos. Sometimes it’s about the quiet fight to get out of bed.
What’s Included in This Drop:
🖤 Why This Matters:
Seasonal Depression isn’t just being “moody when it’s cold.”
It’s a shift in brain chemistry. It’s biological. It’s emotional. It’s real.
And for so many Sims players and the people they love, it’s a very personal battle.
This trait exists for anyone telling stories about:
• Emotional complexity
• Isolation during the holidays
• The “invisible” weight some Sims carry
• Healing arcs rooted in real-life mental health
• Or simply for making realistic gameplay that feels layered, compassionate, and deep
If this speaks to you, know this:
You are not alone.
Your story matters.
And even if the light feels far away right now, it will return.
With love,
Jaye Hinson

This hits hard I was recently told I had SAD I love your mods Jay keep creating!!!
I have all season depression. Thank you for acknowledging it and not just writing 'Look at this cool mod I made! Ha ha we can make our sims depressed for a whole season." (I know you are not that person. Sometimes I feel that modders want to interject reality without nuance to the very real people who live in those realities).
Me as well Sara hugs
I need a full blown depression trait Jay. Big Mama don’t have seasonal depression it’s a everyday thing boo 😩
