It's interesting that you reacted to EXO right after TVXQ, and followed by BTOB (if your upload order follows reaction order) As both EXO & TVXQ from the same agency. And SM groups are always very vocal heavy. But also, EXO is from the generation when riffing was more popular. Because another group who you've noticed that does it, is BTOB. And they debuted only about 3 weeks after EXO. "meme that became a flex" - at first the song was a meme, people made fun of the song But later the song became one of their biggest hits - a flex

Such an iconic performance! Mama was a wild debut song. EXO has more R&B influence compared to most newer kpop groups, so riffing suits their music more. Also they have some of the best vocalists in the industry... besides it not being in fashion right now, some groups probably just don't have the vocal agility to pull off things like this.

Riffing is definitely a lost art for newer gen K-pop. It doesn’t suit current music trends 😔
I've noticed Enhypen does riffing sometimes, but they got more R&B influence compared to most new gen groups
