I joined just to watch your reaction because I love these songs so much. This is a phenomenal game. You would not revert playing it. It comes with a warm and a community. It's no exaggeration that it changed my life. I've found some of the best friends of my life by playing this. There are so so so many more amazing songs in this game. I highly recommend diving into the full osts.

YESSSSS!! It was a whole mood watching your youtube reaction video while actually playing FFXIV lol (I wasn't doing anything intense, just crafting, and I like to watch videos to keep me from getting bored in between clicking macro buttons) I LOVE FFXIV- there is so much great music and great stories. I've been an active player for 5 years, my dad has played for about that long too, my son started playing last year (now that he's old enough), and my husband has been playing more or less actively for about 13 years. My sister also joined a few weeks ago although she's an extremely casual player. I play a lot less when things get busy during the school year. It can be a real time sink but there's a fair bit of flexibility for what kind of player you want to be and how much time/energy you want to put in. You can be super casual and really just play for the main story, PvE and cooperative with other players for dungeons and open world content, get involved with raids if you want, there is crafting and gathering, there is even some PvP if you like that. The really hardcore players tend to do a lot of Savage and Ultimate raid content, and that really takes a huge time commitment. I don't do any of the savage/ultimate stuff. XD A lot of people like to hang out in cities and do roleplaying. There is fashion, interior decorating, even a casino-type setup with mini-games. It's such a rich and detailed world and in a lot of ways it's really whatever you want to make of it. And like Sava mentioned, it's an incredibly newbie-friendly game, or Sprout-friendly (Sprouts are so named for the little sprout icon that goes next to their name to indicate they are new to the game) as we call it. People are genuinely helpful, accommodating, and friendly. A lot of people will go out of their way to help new players get started, learn boss fight mechanics, find something, or get connected to a player community if they are on their own. Occasionally you run into a doofus or two but they get shut down pretty quick and by and large it's a very positive community. I think it says a lot that 3 generations of my family all play this game, I feel very safe letting my 16yo play and that it's not going to be detrimental to his mental health (the way social media and some other gaming communities can be), and I would happily have my younger two kids join in when they are a little older. They already like to watch some of the story and watch me, their dad, and their brother play through dungeons and raids. And they know better than to try to talk to any of us during end-game boss fights lol. Anyway I know there are a bunch of us that would love to have you! Definitely give a shout if you decide to try it out. :)

Final Fantasy as a franchise has always had amazing music. Final Fantasy XIV has been my favorite MMO for the last 16 years. (yes I've played consistently since alpha testing began)

Kinda wish you watch the trailer associated with "Footfalls" too because that trailer is just amazing and would have explained the change in the music. Basically they're weaving in the motifs from previous expansions to acknowledge the journey the players has gone through with the earlier 4 expansions. The choir part is Heavensward, then it moves to Stormblood (the one with the call and response and scream), and of course there's Shadowbringer with the "One bring shadows, one bring light", then it moves to the Endwalker section. Hope you make FFXIV raid bosses song study as well. Some of the best are: Dedicated to Moonlight, In the Balance, Equilibrium, Beauty's Wicked Wiles, What Angel Wakes Me, Wayward Daughter, Rise, and Return to Oblivion.

The Jason/Chris Cornell (and Manson) comparisons are more on point than you realise: Jason startted in an early 2000's band called Godhead, who were signed to Manson's (vanity) record label (started the band in 94, got signed in 2000), so they were very much contemporaries/in a position to be influenced by Cornell and Manson.

A couple years ago I got to go to the Final Fantasy concert when they added FFXIV and FFXVI's music, and Amanda was there to preform her songs. Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Flow, and My Star (from XVI) and it was such a magical experience seeing her live. As soon as she started Flow, I just had tears pouring down my face. FFXIV is such an important game to me. Thank you for this. I always love seeing how excited and into these you get, and how you appreciate the work and technique that goes into it all. It would be really cool if you ever got her on the channel. She always seems so kind and open.

I played FFXIV for quite a while, and it's one of the few MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online RPGs, similar to World of Warcraft) I would actually recommend to people because the community is really welcoming and helpful. It's actually part of the terms of service. Being mean or dismissive of others, especially new players, can actually get you in trouble with the game moderators. I LOVE the way they handle boss fights. They are really complicated and precise and it makes you feel like a total badass to learn the fight mechanics. However, it is an enormous time commitment. By the time you get to Shadowbringers you've probably had to sit through like 100 hours of quests and cutscenes, at least. Some points of the game have so many consecutive cutscenes that they show a warning on screen beforehand, so you can prepare yourself to not be interrupted 😂 I think the base game is still free to play, you could always give it a try!

Free all the way through Shadowbringers, definitely worth it even if you can't commit to "bingeing" the story.

next time we gotta get Soken's transcendent Lahee performance.

You definitely need to check out “To the Edge” it’s from Shadowbringers patch 5.3 and has meaning deeper than just the story of the game. Soken wrote it and made edits all while fighting Cancer often working from his hospital bed.

I believe soken (or his coworkers) has said that he views vocals as "just" another instrument, which is why when we get the early trailers they are often completely lyricless, just vocal sounds that are the "vibe" he wants which they then have to write lyrics to fit

This the same game that have "Answer" to whom you already reacted.

Flow always gets me to tear up.

The thing with "Footfall" is that it include a rearranged medlay of all the previous expensions main themes on top of the rest, since it was the main theme of the expension "Endwalker" wich was the cend of a ten years story arc.

C
Ciel · July 19, 2026

Oh, by the way, it's definitely not the same as seeing it live, but Fanfest will be streamed on Twitch :)

C
Ciel · July 19, 2026

I think you should share this with Amanda, she'll watch it for sure :) She even streamed FFXIV on Twitch for a while as Therealcrystalmommy. She's a good bean.

The cool thing about Footfalls is that it progresses through the major musical themes from each game expansion and weaves them together because it was the main intro song for the Endwalker expansion which was wrapping up the first major story arc.
