One of the things that I connect most with Hakka is that he had some pretty severe vocal cord damage from one of the many times he got super sick and almost died and had to completely relearn how to sing. Extremely inspiring to me since I basically lost for about a year and had started to loose faith in ever pursuing my VA/music dreams.
Just subbed to the Patreon to the to hear your thoughts on his other songs, Hakka is such an amazing singer. Thank you for showcasing some of the Holostars boys!
Really enjoyed this reaction from you dissecting his crazy vocal abilities. I really think you’d like his fellow holostar member Octavio’s vocals also!
Thanks for the study on Hakka, his voice is so unique and wonderful! That final high note in Night Sky Patrol of Tomorrow always leaves me amazed. I always though his control on his screams is so good, its nice to know that a pro vocal coach agrees! The analysis of how he uses his voice is very interesting, thank you very much!
im not sure how much you were told about hakka but i absolutely love this dude. he's self taught on everything. the singing the screaming. he is SO passionate about his craft and you can tell! his first language is spanish lolol. he's crazy!! watching him grow over the past 3 both as a streamer and a singer. i was wondering why the karaoke version of ravens paradigm was chosen but honestly i think it was a great choice so you can hear his live vocals too. as for his "lore"; holostars en lives in a world called elysium with "record corruption" and hakka has been "cursed" with a karasu tengu (a japanese crow demon in basic terms) so his motifs tend to be very raven/crow themed! like seishun said he hasn't revealed his country of origin but its spanish speaking and jungle and uuuuuh not mexico xD thank you for the reveiw!!!!!!!!! if you get a chance he uploads acapella versions of his covers on his youtube membership. the layers are nuts on ANY cover. honestly the songs picked are good but i might have also recommended chuchu lovely but ANY song he does is good ! he's so good at putting the emotion into the song. honestly theres a difference between just singing a song and making the song your own
I kid you not I changed the list probably 10 times before I finally decided I needed to stop haha. The blessing and curse of our crazy talented oshi, anything could have ended up on this list and I probably would have been just as happy haha
Thank you soooo much for looking deeper into Hakka’s incredible vocals! Ever since I first heard him in ‘DEAD WORLD’ I knew that I’m staying and more people should get to know him and listen to his work. Hakka is truly such a hardworking guy, always aiming for the improvement while simply enjoying doing what he loves the most. I’m really happy that I could learn more about his crazy voice and techniques from you! Hakka also likes to teach and explain how he’s creating those amazing sounds. For me it’s always so impressive and nice to see people who are as passionate about music as you two! Also, I hope that soon you’d be able to visit Japan!
Tim, Palette is the first song that I had the courage to request for a reaction on your Patreon shortly after Hakka released it. It's helped me on so many occasions after rough work weekends, just blasting it while driving down the highway. To get to hear you speak so highly of Hakka's work means so much to me and so many others. I was fully ready for the crew to shift a couple songs from this playlist in favor of another because I'd happily listen to you talk about any song he's worked on. Rest assured this is not the last time you'll get a Hakka request from me 😂 As for LORE I'm not as versed as other hakkitos but for some basics- Hakka is an exorcist possessed by the Karasutengu (a crow demon of sorts), and he has partial corruption in his right hand that he fights to keep at bay. He was recruited into Guild Tempus (the first gen Holostars EN) alongside his genmates (Vanguard) to help fight the corruption beasts plaguing the land of Elysium.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS DEEP STUDY!!! Hakka's a fantastic vocalist (my favorite hahaha) and I'm so glad you were able to cover him like this. ESPECIALLY OMEN OF CROWS!!! It's my favorite original song of his and a bunch of Hakkitos have actually put out a group cover of it, it's so beloved. (Also April 21 is his birthday too!) To address your question from the Raven's Paradigm part of this study, he is from an unspecified LATAM country that is just referred to as "Xenokuni" ('kuni' is 'country' in Japanese, so it's kind of a hehehaha 'foreign country' sort of thing) in the lore. He doesn't outwardly specify what country in particular he is from, only that it's a primarily Spanish-speaking country in the jungle.
Seishun and I both provided art for the fan cover, and Seishun provided some vocals! It's such a fun and lovingly put together project.
