Please please please do more Sara and/or waitress. I would love to watch you react to either. Huge fan of both.
I would love to see more of Rufus Wainwright and maybe Loudon as well.
Musical theater is not something I am well versed in or listen to much, but at some point I stumbled upon a performance of this song and it stuck with me. Then I saw this version and it quickly became my favorite version of this song. I also used to listen to Rufus Wainwright back in the 2000s when I was getting more into Indie and singer/songwriter style music but hadn't listened to him in at least a decade as well. I was very impressed with how good he still sounds and the choices he made in this song. Thanks for getting to this!
What I found interesting about this performance the first time I saw it was how casual and loose it was. And I was really impressed with Rufus. (I hadn’t been in his early career, maybe because I was very familiar with his parent’s work. ) I’d watch more Sara analysis. I’ve been a fan since her Little Voice album. 🌻🌻 There is something odd to my ear about Sara’s > phasing < and have always wondered where that came from. I’m not well versed enough in Sondheim to know if she’s echoing his style. And I’d really love for a singer / teacher to explain what Sara Barielles is doing that makes her songs sound so much different to me than similar pop songs. 🌻🌻 I would watch Waitress analysis. Can anyone convince me it’s not a one-song-musical? I also didn’t love most of the portrayals in the 2023 film. It lost a lot of depth from the live, stage version, and much of the dark comedy from Shelly’s original film.
This was so beautiful 🥹 And so fun to know you’re a Rex Orange County fan! Would love more Waitress content or a long reaction to the whole musical which is now on HBO max
