AHHHHHH!!!! That was amazing. Soooo many thoughts, what performances should I break out and do deep dives on?

I’m believe they got to watch episode 1 and 2 of season 2 there as well so they definitely got more goodies not included 💕

Not sure if this was pointed out yet, but the joke about Jessica Vosk apparently singing songs about Gravity is because she played Elphaba for a while!

I wasn't there for this performance, but I have at least two friends from the fandom who were. Gravity is definitely a powerhouse of a song, and was fantastic live. I think it IS one of the songs from the concert that is stronger in the show than live. While there are some vocal differences I think the main cause of that is that the accompaniment is much more fleshed out, stronger, and balanced in the recorded version. As for the people mentioning spoilers, while there definitely are some, they aren't really explicitly stated and you either didn't notice them at all, or likely won't remember them by the time they become relevant. RE: Erika's vocal fatigue. She had been performing full time in Just In Time opposite Jonathon Groff up until about a month before this performance. She had some periods of both self-imposed and doctor imposed vocal rest during that run, as she had also been recording VA work and also done multiple stand alone concerts (if I recall correctly). On October 17, about a week or so before this concert, she posted a reel on her instagram breaking down some of the health struggles she had been having with her voice, the treatments she had been trying, and so forth. The long and short of it was that some of the treatments were invasive (but nothing went wrong and no malicious intent and so forth) and she had been dealing with a great deal of insecurity surrounding her voice, how it had been reliable for most of her life and now she felt unsure with it. Basically a lot of tension, potentially some damage, and a lot of mental impact. All of which is to say to have been coming off of all that she was with her voice, for her to have sounded as amazing as she did this concert just further supports what a powerhouse she is.

Wow! I had no idea about her struggles. Speedy recovery to our Charlie ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Tim, I am so glad to share with you the joy that I've been having with this fandom! I loved your thoughts on the new ways of media in our days. My mom studies and develops linguoculturology, and she contemplates a lot on how language, art and communities are changing now. Was interesting hearing it from you. Regarding spoilers – I told ya there's a big one, but you won't notice it. I was right. But no worries, you will get it when the time is right. For now, try not to relisten to act 2 of this live show. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR BREAKDOWN OF POISON, STAYED GONE, AND HELL'S GREATEST DAD!

I was on the fence with watching this but being able to watch it and hear your thoughts as well pushed me over the edge so thank you for this. I'm glad you were so interested in the music that you seemed to not notice some of the spoilers as well.

I'm sorry. WHAT? My first ever live theater exposure was on a school trip to a Phantom of the Opera in 2011. I tried watching the movie after watching the broadway show and it couldn't compare. That's when I fell in love with live theater. I thought, when watching the Live Hazbin Hotel, that it looked a lot like the theatre I was in but that was so long ago. Surely a lot of them look similar. But what you're telling me, and I remember a pizza place across the road. I just googled it and THAT'S IT! That's so wild! I'm heading to NYC for another broadway show at the Lyric theatre and I was wondering about that first one I was at 14 years ago. That just made my day

I’ve watched this show countless times and it still has not gotten old. Jessica Vosk’s performance alone makes me so happy! And I notice new things happening in the audience, both with cosplay and fan reactions. So far, the Lucifer and Alastor couple singing to each other during “Loser” is my favorite. And I saw a Baxter! (season 2 character.) Nothing will replace live theater. Bad performances can’t be edited and weak voices can’t be tweaked, so it’s not for the faint of heart. Almost anyone can step in front of a camera and read a cue card, but few can stand on a box while wearing a sparkly blue jacket and command a stage like Christian Borle. Just saying. It’s cool that you have great memories of beautiful theater. It is fun and interesting being able to go where the general public isn’t allowed and know how it’s all done. During my 20s and 30s, I volunteered as a stage manager/props person with community theater, but the places I worked in usually had mice in the basement and one had squirrels in the ceiling. 😩

Moxxie showing up has no significance to the show. Richard Horvitz who plays Moxxie is the voice director on both shows. He's the guy reading lines with everyone, and he's usually there for when they record the songs as well. Richard's first love was always musical theatre (which is why Moxxie is so deeply into it too) but he got into TV and voice acting instead cause he grew up in LA, so honestly, I think they just wanted to give him his well earned Broadway debut by letting him to Mimzy's part and add in some fan service by giving the crowd a little Moxxie while they were at it.

What's funny is most of Horvitz's work is with children's cartoons like The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. So to hear him say some of the naughty things that Moxxie says to Millie is hilarious.

I think it’d be fun to break out the live performance for analysis right after you watch their corresponding episodes that why it’s spaced out over your reaction series of seasons 1 & 2

Vara Goli · December 14, 2025

In the show the played the first two episodes of season 2 early

Richard Horvitz (Moxxie) is the voice director of both Helluva and Hazbin, it was so nice of them to let have his dream Broadway debut 😍

also: Alex Brightman was initially supposed to be there as Adam and Pentious, but he was sick so had to drop out last minute

I knew he must have been supposed to attend. So sad that he got sick!

Sooo many spoilers! You've got a bit of a wait for some of these payoffs 😆 Looking forward to the journey with ya!🙃

M
Marissa · December 14, 2025

I was hoping he'd wait to watch because Piss in particular is a hardcore spoiler. It seems some people were saying there weren't spoilers.

The best part of this, is this show was Amir Talai's (Alastor's VA) first time ever on Broadway and the crew razzed him about being in a sold out venue on his first time!

HIs reaction to the crowd lined up outside the theater was so cute! He was just as excited as they were.
