We interrupt this RTS classic that I'd wager none of you will get, to bring you an update from us here at Ogre Poppenang, courtesy of Earndil's notepad document he writes these on.
While I wait for my Triple Rail Tanks to finish construction, I figured I'd give you guys some more insight on what it is that we've been up to in the past couple weeks, as well as what to expect from us from here until next month!

SECRET HUNTERS
This came out last week to positive reviews, but pretty low viewcount, and that's honestly okay given it was, as we stated, much lower investment than our other project items.
What are your thoughts on it?

More Secret Hunters will be in production as we wend onwards, but rest assured we're keeping them lower on the effort scale so as to not distract from things people are REALLY waiting for.

I don't know, only Alfa can tell me that and he locked himself in the potato cellar days ago. We'll find out when he's done peeling them.
BUT it's going to be next on the list, so we ask that you be patient while we get it ship-shape!

HUNTER THE PARENTING CHAPTER 5.4 - SECOND INQUISITION
This one's interesting, because you see, we were chatting around in the production server's main chatroom, and started joking about us trying to get the Secret Hunters, NWG, and this very audiolog completed before May.
As we joked back and forth, we began to wonder just how feasible it'd be if we could get it done.
Alfa tabulated some numbers, I agreed to work 5 twelve-hour shifts, and everyone working the project files just started busting their asses to get as much done as we can.
I don't think we'll be making that deadline for the end of April, but the sudden spur to really accelerate the process (tiring as it's been, I think a few of us are feeling the burn (it's me, I'm feeling it)) did push us far closer to an early May release!
So look forward to that!
HUNTER THE PARENTING - CHAPTER 6
There's not much to say here besides that animation and remaining artwork is being ploughed out at a steady pace. Garrot and Karl are trudging away at animating the big fight scene. (help)
RADS TO RICHES
Hosting a game on the 24th (today hopefully, provided this goes up in time), which HOPEFULLY after our long hiatus will be what we need to get this arc done. Going smoothly, got fun characters, interesting concepts courtesy of bouncing ideas off of people, and some social commentary. You know, Fallout stuff.

Hope you guys are well out there as the temperatures get higher, and the winds get dryer, and the wet gets wotter, and the scrug gets grunger. My eyes are strained, 5 12s was a poor idea OH WELL.

Long time since I commented. Wanted to take the occasion to say that I am still awaiting each upload with bated breath. I got my brother and my best friend to join in watching your stuff and she got at least two additional friends to join as well. In addition I will probably be increasing my patronage to the next tier, once I get my salary increase this summer. What I want to say with all that, is that I love NWG, I love HTP, I loved every episode of Zero Viscosity and I am very much looking forward to "rads to riches". I also hope you will continue doing the Secret Hunter audiodramas, because they are extremely cute (that couple photo on the table melted my heart). I may be a lurker, but I have been a huge fan of the entire teams work for at least 10 years now and I hope that you will be able to follow your passion for a long time to come.
I LOVED THAT GAME YOUR REFERENCING! I have never herd anyone reference this game in my life! Phase transports 5 triple rails into your house. "Roll'in" I now must find that classic and play it thank you for dredging this from the depths of my mind! Update: Its free abandon ware !! But can i run it!

I wasn’t particularly taken with Secret Hunters 1, but Secret Hunters 2 felt a lot more interesting on some level. Perhaps because Markus actually felt like an early 2000s video game critic, perhaps because of the little lore dumps and fakeout scares, or maybe just because the writing is always improving.
Well you know best on how much work you can reasonably manage but based on what was said here it is probably less than that so please do not feel the need to DIE just to make funny things for us peeples. (unless it's because of a desperate push to get more revenue but in that case just communicate as much because e-begging does work when you make such wondersful stuff that people love). Also I provide full apologies for the low views-numbers success of the secreter hunters for I don't actually use Youtube and instead have a jank setup involving downloading everything onto a personal media server because I do not want to give youtube themselves any amount of numbers increase. Honestly doing that is part of why i started paying on patreon to hopefully make up for what has been lost in approximately 100 view per video. Also I have no idea why I talked like that I think something came over me I hope it makes sense.
I did indeed enjoy consuming the Secret Hunters with mine earholes while GARG OS assaulted mine eyes with its bouncing bearded bastardbeard.
Loved the secret hunters episode, even if it wasn’t something huge. It’s little stuff like that, that keeps me interested!
Speaking purely for myself, I got the notification for secret hunters but wasn't interested in it. No hate, just not a fan of the gimmick. Excited to watch the new NWG with visuals though!
I love Secret Hunters! especially as a medium to hear Karckus bounce off each other and to learn more about them, notably the tube _refused_ to notify me about the release of the video in spite of all my settings theoretically making this impossible, might have something to do with the numbers, might not. (also not to parasocialise or anything but you guys try to take it easy yeah? stay healthy, don't burn yourselves out)
i have been watching alfabusa/ogre poppenang since the early TTS days, it's not wrong to say you guys are one of the biggest reasons i am into as into 40k playing and painting, i am nothing but thankful for all the amazing content you guys have made through all the years, so please don't burn yourselves out working, take the time you need, if we need to wait some weeks, even months extra, so be it, it's worth the wait every time with your level of quality with genuine thanks for everything Robin

Oh as for the Secret Huntwrs episode, it was very fun and light fare! Big fan of Marckus and Companion riffing off one another, and an even bigger fan of yall continuing the proud WoD tradition of "legally distinct brand names" by creating your own video game titles that absolutely sound plausible for that era of gaming. Also, in a world where a haunted video game cartridge isn't even the fifth strangest thing in cannon, the gag at the end that there is no ghost is especially funny. Yes, sometimes even the best [FISHERMEN] can be bamboozled by a big fish story in the World of Darkness.
This news is swamptactular. What's definitely not bogtactular is the ogres being pressed for their mind juices.
Great update! Dont burn yourself too much Mister Ogre Sir. As for Secret Hunters, it was not served to me in my sub feed for some reason. I searched it out because of your announcements here. Could partially be why the view count differs from expectations.

About Secret Hunters having a low view count - I think that may have been because the downloadable MP3 was released on Patreon first, and the MP4 came out at about the same time as the YT upload. So a lot of us were probably already enjoying it offline in ways that couldn't be measured by analytics, and didn't go onto YouTube in the usual numbers. It really was great stuff, please don't feel disheartened by view counts! I also really like the fact that as they're not so tied to the WoD universe and it's rules, you at Ogre are able to just let your imaginations run free in creating fake games that are crap in funny ways and annoy the [TROUT] out of Marckus! (It reminds me a bit of "The Marmoset Chronicles", an improv podcast about a series of films that definitely existed, honest! (roflmao) They started off sort-of grounded in reality, then from film 2 onwards got weird.) And in adding things like the Mangledteeth forum which show is some of the characters' lives outside hunting, and some of the friends/acquaintances they have outside that life.
Yeah. I felt less motivated to watch on YouTube because I'd already heard it and I expected the visuals to be very minimal
Hey. Earndil? I think you’re crazy (admiring). I appreciate your hard work, and I hope you take care of yourself like you need to. Burnout is murder. As for Secret Hunters- I really enjoyed it! It felt very character-driven and gave us some hints at the wider setting (like that gamer contact…). Plus it felt just like an urban legend out of the Early Oughts, much like the one about the ET game graveyard.
I liked secret hunters, definitely better than nothing, provided it dose'nt cause burnouts. Also thanks for the update, as always i look forward to what you do next.
I enjoy your work. The Secret Hunters episode was neat. Nice similarities to another landfill game XD. And I'd like to enjoy your future works as well. Therefore: Please don't work yourselves to the bone. I'd be happy to wait a little longer knowing new stuff is going to be released continuously instead of a rushed job burning you guys out and not getting anything new down the line. I know sometimes you want to meet set deadlines regardless of your health. But that is a REALY bad road to follow. A healthy body and mind keeps creativity up ;)
I think everyone here will agree with this. Burnout is a real thing, and pushing yourself to do something past the point of exhaustion can harm you, and also cause you to lose the pleasure you took in doing the thing you once loved. Please don't burn yourselves out through constantly doing twelve-hour days!

I enjoyed Secret Hunters, it was a nice little appetizer for y'all's more meaty shows. It reminds me of a certain time in my life when I too would spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME on a given not that great game trying to find secret shenanigans (though not of the haunted feet crushing variety). The Boy cameo was particularly funny. My thermic reactor pulsates with excitement over the prospect of being able to watch the new NWG episode!
I think secret hunters is neat but I'm having trouble understanding what exactly it is. Very obviously the whole Wide Bronson episode is about video game creepy pastas and how trolls/rumours would start up about complicated, fake methods to get secret endings and other content not normally accessible. But I am left a litle lost, as is this wide bronson based on a specific real world hoax/rumour or is it made up wholesale for this episode (a worker dying and possessing a cartridge.) Will it cover only video game hoaxes as a general shbject or will it make specific references? Will secret hunters only do games or will they do movies, internet history, etc too? Or is it a means to introduce aspects of the Umbra and other mage shenanigans? I don't expect an answer, but exploring the idea of Markus's belief, should he be a mage, or the collective velief of internet weridos believing in a rumour hard enough to make it an accepted part of consensus would also be interesting. If it's just general references its neat but if there are any that are going to be based on specific rumours I look forward to seeing their reflections in the world of darkness. Keep up the good work!
I believe there was an ARG called "Ben Drowned" about a haunted Zelda cartridge (see the ARGonauts podcast for more info). I think it may have been based on an existing urban myth - but in fairness full 3D worlds existing inside video games for the first time probably were going to fire up people's imagination in a way their 2D predecessors couldn't.
Ogres shouldn't crunch anything but the bones of their enemies. Besides, the pining is part of the wondrous dance. We all know it will only be when we give up hope our beloved content will show, and we withdraw from the balcony edge that it shall call up to us from the bushes. And we are both fools to ignore it and to not retreat into the safety of our home. It will lure us to meet near the fountain in the garden to regale us of both promise and delight! And then we will awake from the marvelous dream knowing we imagined it all and content will once more stir the beating of wings within our chests as we wait the next night after for our beloved content to show.

Listened to the Secret hunters both as an MP3 and out on youtube. I find that they are a lot of fun, and a nice little bit of silliness between all the other episodes. Please take care of yourselves. I would personally rather wait than have you all slave away in the crunch mines and get burnt out because of it.
Lovely to hear, but I do not approve of anyone crunching the Ogres, especially when it is self-inflicted crunch!!! Yall know your tolerance better than us, but don't burn yourself out for our sake. I for one am happy to wait if it means yall get regular meals and sleep human hours.

Hey listen I watched the secret hunter podcast thing and I loved it. Guys i was never an OG fan from the warhammer TTS show you guys did, but I found you guys through your Hunter the parenting series. I have become such a huge fan and want to say I appreciate all of your efforts.
I really liked secret hunters, but I prefer listening to it as an audio podcast on Patreon rather than having it on as a YouTube video. I get that it would be weird to do episodes that aren't on YouTube but if you're wondering why you're ONE VIEW SHORT that's me, I'm sorry. It's the same with NWG

I think secret hunters is difficult to get right, because the most dedicated viewers are going to be people who are invested, and who expect connections to the other videos, or WOD in general. However, if there are any connections, then they basically become audiologs again, which people will feel like they're missing out on by not watching. In my view, the real test on if they can succeed as an independent side series will be how things go once the Q&A gets going again, as the mail-in questions for TTS were always interesting. Also, I hope you all get to take some nice R&R days once the 5x12s are over.
I'm actually going to disagree a bit! The Secret Hunters episodes don't need prior knowledge of the setting, or of the previous episodes - they're very self-contained. That makes them a really easy on-ramp for new listeners, and they get to learn a bit about Kitten and Marckus and their relationship too! I think for someone new to the series I would advise starting with 1.1, Big D's Guide to Resisting Arrest, and both Gamer Podcast/Secret Hunters episodes.
Can't believe Alfa is crunching the Ogres. Poor bastards. ...but I'm looking forward to what the results are. And Ogres can recover from a crunching very quickly, right? Or was it Trolls that had the healing factor...
