Zaraki would have never moved on if she was still around, cuz he admired her so much. He changed himself, brought himself down on her level subconsciously, so that he could enjoy potentially battling her. You could even consider it a twisted way of showing love for someone. So she basically let him kill her and she was happy to finally move on, fulfilling her purpose of removing Zaraki's shackles on his powers. Her sin was her existence.

Guys you forgot something. In OG bleach in the episode after Kenpachi lost to Ichigo there was a short backstory scene. It showed how he met Yachiru (his future lieutenant) It was before they even joined court guard squads. The girl was so young she wasn’t even able to walk. And Kenpachi gave her this name. He named her Yachiru, and he said “it’s the name of the person I wish to be like”. It was a big foreshadowing in these early bleach episodes 😊

I have never bought a content creator subscription in my 34 years, but I can say with certainty that you guys are the best anime reaction channel ever. Keep going with the dub reactions!"

The guy @21:42 is the Kenpachi before our Kenny. He was captain of squad 11 during or just before turn back the pendulum arc where we got the Vizords backstory. He had to have been trash because Kenny killed him in one swing.

Yeah, Unohana is pretty goated. I'd honestly put her as the strongest female character in Bleach, outside of maybe Squad Zero. She's definitely S tier in terms of strength, though I'd place her toward the bottom of it, which is still incredibly impressive. Kubo actually confirmed in a Q&A that Aizen deliberately avoided fighting her because he knew it would exhaust him. That's an insane statement when you consider how overwhelmingly powerful Aizen was and how little regard he had for almost everyone else's strength. I'd also say Aizen is top 3 easy along with Ichigo and Ywach (excluding the soul king). So being able to fight someone at the very top of the bleach universe to exhaustion is kinda crazy.

The OST y'all were groovin to around 25:45 is actually one of the remixed OSTs from OG Bleach. "Battle Ignition" is the name of the original track, but this new one hasn't been released yet.

MID EPISODE CARD TRANSLATIONS: Kenpachi is the title of the strongest warrior, passed down in the Soul Society for over a thousand years. His name is known not only in the Seireitei but throughout the entire Soul Society, and he sometimes wields the influence to override even the orders of the Central 46 and the nobles. He constantly seeks battles against those stronger than himself, and his ability to gain even greater strength through battle overwhelms and sometimes attracts those around him, regardless of whether they are friend or foe. There is only one Kenpachi in an era. To earn this name, which is given to those who truly live for battle and love battle, only strength is required, regardless of origin or social status, and it has been passed down through generations through duels. It has become customary for the captain of the 11th Division within the Gotei 13 to be someone who holds the title of Kenpachi, and many of the division's members are hot-blooded strong individuals who constantly seek battle. The Hoohden (Phoenix Palace) is the palace of Nimaiya Oetsu, a member of the Zero Division, who is recognized as the very history of the Soul Society for creating the "Zanpakuto." The nameless Zanpakuto Asauchi, which can be said to be the beginning of all Zanpakuto, was forged by the "Sword God" Nimaiya Oetsu. Passing through the dazzlingly extravagant sign, you are greeted by a gorgeous interior and a crowd of dazzling women gathered in abundance. The main hall of the Hoohden is a small hut that stands quietly on a cliff beyond the Galaxy Phoenix Palace, which could be called a paradise.

Zaraki is the 11th Kenpachi. He took the name "Kenpachi of Zaraki" as a self-proclaimed title as he had no given name; "Zaraki" was the name of his Rukon district, and "Kenpachi" was the title of the person he admired as well as what he believed himself to be. He officially earned the title of Kenpachi when he defeated the 10th Kenpachi, the previous captain of Squad Eleven. Unohana stepped away from the title at some point in the past, allowing others to succeed in the title, but as seen in this episode, she knew who the true Kenpachi was.

LMFAOOO having a bunch of people sign a card and then never deliver it to the recipient is such a Birmingham thing to do. I thought about going to the con, but my schedule was to hectic to make it work out. Literally drive past where it was hosted like everyday, though. Glad to hear that it seems to be run well; I think this is only it's second or third year, but to see such a niche con still around in Bham of all places is a decent sign, I'd say! Also, happy birthday, y'all!

So Bleach just ended and Kubo trolled the living crap out of us manga readers so I'm fuming 😤 Other then that, it was pretty good.

Should definitely watch the next two together. Peak final two episodes to round out the cour. Edit: So for Kenpachi's name. Unohana was the only true Kenpachi until this episode, where Zaraki officially becomes Kenpachi. However, Unohana publicly gave up the title, and others took the title. Zaraki killed the previous (unofficial) Kenpachi and gained the title of Kenpachi in the eyes of Soul Society. But he had already adopted Kenpachi as part of his name after Unohana. When he named little Yachiru, he named her after "the person he most admired", which is Yachiru Unohana. The name Zaraki also comes from where he is from, as he, like little Yachiru, was never given a name. Edit 2: Also, as far as I know, Unohana is the only Soul Reaper in Soul Society whose shikai and bankai both share the same name. Always found that pretty interesting when you consider that shikai is supposed to represent one's exterior self while bankai is one's internal self

O
OmniDemon · October 29, 2026

Well, the names are different and represent therefore her exterior and internal self. But yeah, it's funny that hers is sounding the same, nevertheless xD Bankai: 皆尽 (All Things' End) Shikai: 肉雫唼 (Flesh-Drops' Gorge)

T
ThePhonyOne · October 28, 2026

My head cannon is that Unohana gave up the Kenpachi title when she changed squads, because a Kenpachi always leads Squad 11. The fact she knew she should have lost to child Zarakai probably had a part in that too. So Zarakai killing her here makes him the first true Kenpachi since she gave up the title.

Double drop please 🙏🏽 the next two

Keith Waterman · October 28, 2026

Great reaction as always!! A couple things to point out: Zaraki did name his lieutenant after Unohana as a sign of his admiration and respect because she didn’t have a name just like him when he found her. It doesn’t have anything to do with her swordsman ship. There have been 11 Kenpachi’s in the soul society’s history, with Unohana being the 1st and Zaraki being the 11th. After some time as a captain, Yamamoto had Unohana focus on being a healer for the soul society’s balance. Even though there technically should only be 1 Kenpachi in every era, they allowed others to take on the title after that. In Ikkaku’s backstory earlier in the show, they said Zaraki went straight to the 13 court guard squads and defeated the 10th Kenpachi in a single blow, automatically making him the new 11th Kenpachi. It was one of the main reasons why the higher ups feared him so much, he was just an unknown criminal that easily killed the previous Kenpachi and had no formal swordsman training like everyone else. I always found it so insane that not only was Zaraki consciously limiting his power (the bells, the eyepatch, fighting with only one hand) but also subconsciously restraining himself so he could enjoy himself like he did with Unohana. He was a literal child and she was already known as the most notorious criminal the soul society’s had ever seen and arguably the strongest captain not named Yamamoto and he was even stronger than her back then. Makes you think about how much stronger he’ll be after unlocking himself AND now possibly being able to use his shikai/bankai. Amazing stuff as always guys!!

Unohana's Bankai reminded you of Elden Ring - there is a katana "Rivers of Blood" in the game that looks very similar and it's description says "Weapon of Okina, swordsman from the Land of Reeds. A cursed weapon that has felled countless men." - I don't know if this is a reference or not, but there is definitely a resemblance there)

I thought about playing MS Classic. But Final Fantasy Resonance came out at basically the same time. Been really missing turn based RPGs so it has consumed my free time.
