Vexxx — File Browser Preview
Hey everyone,
The next Vexxx release is getting close, and this one is focused on something that matters a lot: stability, reliability, and making your library much easier to explore.
Big Reliability Improvements
This update includes a major round of fixes for scanning and generation workflows, especially during large generate runs.
I tracked down and fixed a nasty set of memory and parallelism issues that could cause the app — or even the entire machine — to lock up under heavy workloads. One of the biggest culprits was a “double-parallelism” problem during phash generation, where background workers were multiplying far more aggressively than intended.
That has now been corrected, which should bring memory usage back under control during large jobs.
In plain English: large scans and generation runs should now be much safer, smoother, and less likely to grind your system to a halt.
New File Browser
The other big addition is a fully-featured File Browser.
Instead of only browsing through filtered lists, you can now navigate your library by folder. This should make Vexxx feel much more natural when working with larger collections, especially if your files are already organized on disk.
The new File Browser includes:
Grid view with 128×128 thumbnails
Type badges and studio logos
List view with inline studio branding
Remembered grid/list layout preference across sessions
Natural selection behavior for bulk operations
Clicking an item now opens a rich details panel with:
Live scene preview video
Star rating
Studio logo, with name fallback
Scrollable performer portrait carousel
Tags
Full file metadata
Selection has also been refined. A plain click opens the details panel, while Ctrl+click or checkbox-hover can be used to toggle selection for bulk actions.
This should make browsing, previewing, rating, and organizing your library feel much faster and more comfortable.
Why This Release Matters
A lot of this work happened under the hood, but it directly impacts day-to-day use. Vexxx should now behave better during heavier workloads, recover more cleanly when jobs are cancelled, and give you a much more visual way to move through your collection.
This release is about making Vexxx feel less like a tool you fight with, and more like a proper library companion.
Thanks again to everyone supporting the project here on Patreon. Your support helps me keep pushing Vexxx forward with better performance, better workflows, and a smoother experience overall.
More soon and all the best,
